This VCA animal hospital in Rutherford NJ and for the reviews I ve seen should not be in business They almost killed my cat 3000 for pain meds all they did because I could not afford their 7000 they claimed he was blocked it turned out he just had UTI just needed fluids and antibiotics which cost me another 1500 at another emergency vet

Poor seems to be the common rating for the VCA hospitals My experience was nothing less The front clerks are less than helpful and inexperienced and the vets refuse to take the time to come out front to discuss your pets underlying problems They also refused to hold my pet for observations and recommended I go to a different vet I am extremely disappointed with this experience and the staffs lack of empathy for my pets ongoing situation I will never go back to a VCA facility and do not recommend anyone to waste their time efforts or money

This has been the worst experience of my life VCA Animal Speciality Emergency Center PLEASE BEWARE My cat Barnaby amd I were treated like garbage They gave me no clear diagnosis and prescribed me a bunch of unecessary medication that I had no way of giving it to my fur baby However when the Dr asked me if I was capable of administering the medication she assured me it would be in liquid form but was not Of course i did not realize it wasnt liquid until I got home and had to return to get no help but the run around It gets worse they got something all over my cats fur and whatever it smells horrible amd will not wash off I cant believe the imcompitance of this place I am disgusted by there bed side manner and advice anyone to stay clear of this terrible place

AVOID I went there with a sick dog they charged me 525 for the visit and bloodwork and came back saying she needed all sorts of treatments from blood transfusions to surgeries When I couldn t afford those options They told me my dog was going to die recommended we put her down Talk about devastating Even their quote for putting her down was exorbitant so we decided to go home and let it happen naturally I reached out to a couple of other vets I know both were appalled that VCA urgent care sent me home without antibiotics the obvious first line of defense with a dog presenting with a fever and high white blood cell count So I took my dog to another local vet once they opened the vet examined the dog and put her on a course of antibiotics It worked the dog is fine Unlike VCA urged I did not need surgery or a blood transfusion for thousands of dollars - I needed a 30 round of antibiotics These people showed themselves to be all about the money dishonest and NOT the place to take a pet that you care for

If I could do less than 1 star I would Do not do business with VCA I was warned and didn t listen Lesson learned I have a sick dog that I have already spent hundreds on and they did not fix the issue but want me to spend hundreds more to see what works and shove more medications down his throat or yet another jab 2 were required yesterday as I heard my dog crying while they jabbed him not once but twice I was charged 160 for a shot that was suppose to stop his itching It s been we ll over 24 hours and he is no better and now this vet wants to charge me more money and shove more shit down his throat I pulled my pets from VCA and only hope that in the interim my dog doesn t get worse They are rude and didn t even care about my situation Throw more pharmaceuticals at him and charge me out the ass for it No thank you VCA I have reported this to the BBB have hired an attorney for the damages emotional stress and fired VCA

No compassion

This is specifically about the VCA Animal Hospital in Tempe AZ on Broadway Road They did not provide proper follow-up care when my cat s infection resisted treatment After I called 3 times a technician finally called me back and was unable to answer any of my questions She basically blew off my concerns The vet had told me this was a serious infection and the tech acted like it was no big deal I ve been a customer 8 yrs spent 296 on this appt and they can t be bothered to do proper follow-up I was told spaying my cat would fix the problem They wanted to charge me 850 to spay vs 350 elsewhere

Terrible experience with uncaring doctors at VCA

I went to Valley VCA in Indio CA because my dog was struggling to breathe Spent almost all night there waiting for results of chest x-ray They didn t hesitate to charge me 950 to diagnose her problem as collapsing trachea and bronchitis Then they REFUSED to treat her or let me know what to do about it Medical director Dr Baxter was RUDE and kept saying the same thing - to call my normal vet - who happened to be on vacation for 11 more days which I WHY I went to VCA in the first place I m very lucky my dog survived - no thanks to VCA Valley

no notice abandoned all patients

The Encinitas location shut down and NEVER notified us so when we had a sick cat had no one new in place This we had to pay ER prices and had no trusted doc to guide the care or provide outpatient basics This is immoral and shows they do not care one bit about the animals just the money

Never has appointments available in a timely fashion

The lakewood location never has appointments My dog had coughing spells I guess it wasn t too important since the only thing available was a month later The wait list is a joke Luckily it was Banfield to the rescue and I was able to get my pet within 2 days of scheduling

They kill pets to get commission fees AVOID VCA AT ALL COSTS

A VCA vet couldn t recognize a life threatening emergency and told me to wait for an unnecessary MRI overnight to begin treatment My pet died awfully waiting when they should have been at an Emergency Hospital VCA pays their commission vets a very low salary They will kill your pet rather than give up a penny of the commission money
