Christmas party SHAMBLES
Party of 11 booked we were advised to pre order drinks 1st disasterOn arrival only A small amount of pre order drinks on table trying to get the balance was a joke no body knew who was in charge of getting it Not enough waiting staff for food took forever to get the meal servedFood was at best same as I would buy at a cheap supermarket Tiny cold quiche an 4 bits of rocketMain meat ok Veg must have been on the boil all day and just mixed thown onto communal serving plate all 6 types in a heap Looked like leftovers Veg nut roast whichever cook picked up 2 packets labelled vegetarian open up what looked like dog food and mixed it with packet 2 pickled red cabbage and thought that works needs shooting and as for the non existent head chef that may have agreed to send it outPudding Choc tart clearly portioned up hour before and subsequently dried out like eating cardboard During the evening we cleaned our own table of empties as it became overflowing with bottles and empty glasses nobody else s tables were cleared during the meal at most ther was only 1 person at the bar serving so the queue was huge especially when you are only trying to retrieve your PRE ORDERED drinks that know ones whose in charge of sorting it After the meal WE even had to pick up and move our own large 11 person tableAnd chairs to make way for the dancing areaSummaryNot enough staffPre order drinks no one has a clue asked 5 people food Supermarket quality not fresh or made in the hotel kitchen Mark out of 10 Just about a 2 For the reputation of the White Hart it is an extremely poor doShow less

You could be so good Fantastic location Why do you choose to be so awful Booked direct First room 900 degrees window would not open broken shabby furniture tap you couldn t turn off Inital complaint to management ignored Second room freezing radiator not working Condensation so heavy obscuring view of cathedral Noisy room mixture of fans neighbours normal conversation level toilet flushing from other rooms showers doors banging Calls to reception unanswered Inconsiderate staff Expected much more Breakfast vile Evening meal room service good Empty resturant get seated facing the loos next to service area Lovely Just don t bother Same complaints as other reviews so obviously falling on deaf ears Gave up Glad it was only a one night stay Such a shame could be amazing I would not currently rate this hotel as 3 stars Location only saving grace To properly upgrade look at maintenance radiators taps showers and sound proofing Dont think stained chipped veneer furniture with missing handles and a draw without a base is an acceptable standard Food - breakfast quality considerations Fresh ingredients proper OJ better bread better coffee Add hotel information to rooms even a printed sheet if it s a covid issue Answer phones or redirect calls to dead areas of the hotel where staff are free Give people the exit code to the car park when they are leaving Don t lock them out of their room when they haven t checked out Childish petty behaviour It s not rocket science Come on you can do better Look at your reviews and act on them

Dubious text charging for booking a table in the restaurantThe lunch for four was reasonable The restaurant was not busy and the service was acceptable although the bread ordered with the first courses arrived way after we had all finished our first course but the reason for writing this review is as follows the White Hart has coupled up with OpenTable com to and I quote manage our bookings in the restaurant This in itself is not the issue The issue is that once I had booked the table for four by phone I then received a few days later a text asking me to confirm the booking at the restaurant by pressing 1 or cancelling the booking by pressing 0 Naturally as the text mentioned the White Hart restaurant and knew the time and date of the booking I pressed 1 and sent the text back confirming the booking I was then made aware by EE my phone company that this text had incurred a 15p charge plus a service charge whatever that is I mentioned this to the manager and he said he had no idea this charge was being levied and that he was grateful for being made aware of this sharp practice No apology for giving my mobile number to a third party without my permission thereby breaking data protection regulations No ackowledgment that this is clearly a racket to make money at the expense of unsuspecting customers Such a shame that a decent restaurant has involved itself with this sort of arrangement Really not keen to fall for this again and would suggest to people that they do not allow the White Hart to give your contact details to a third party company out to make a fast buck I can t help wondering why a reputable establishment like the White Hart is doing this and supposedly not knowing what is going on A bit of a let down in truth

Stayed for two nights 6th and 7th May
Stayed for two nights 6th and 7th May 2022 we were allocated room 103 my friend room 351 we payed 150 a night for what was supposed to be an Executive Room on entering the room there was a small area with a two seater couch tv and tea coffee facilities down three stairs to the bedroom old antique wardrobe kept level by a doorstopper on either side of the wardrobe two other antique tables one with glass top which was filthy underneath the other was stained and filthy secondary glazing was jammed and let in so much noise on our first night needless to say no sleep on the Friday night reported it Saturday morning not even an apology just we will try to get it fixed Bathroom was filthy with a absolutely disgusting extractor fan fixed into the window which was absolutely disgusting no bath robes Saturday night again no sleep as there was a wedding function and our room was above the door where people were going out for a cigarette screaming and shouting and swearing this went on till 00 50 hrs breakfast both days was not good 20mins wait for a pot of tea 40mins wait for cooked breakfast wouldn t have minded if the breakfast room was busy but it was half full at 9 When leaving on Sunday and paying our room we weren t even asked if we enjoyed our stay or even a thank you for staying with us My friend in room 351 had to take her luggage up to the 3rd floor herself as the old antiquated lift was broken this we were told has been an ongoing problem for years Engineer said this she never even got asked if they could help her with her luggage up the three flights of stairs Friday night my friend had to sleep on top of the bed as a spring had pierced through and was catching her back she went to reception to ask for the mattress to be turned they said fine again no apology for a bad night s sleep Our rooms were no way anything at all that were advertised on the hotels website or we would never ever have booked to stay in the hotel at 150 a night Thankfully we took photos of our rooms and will be addressing this as we feel the rooms on their website are not rooms they are allocating to customers

Worst stay
Stayed at the Original white in Ringwood the price of the room and the size was ridiculous The room was filthy mould on the skating boards have pictures The mattrass towards the door had a massive hole in it found out when I sat on the bed and got poked In the early hours of the morning around 6 am two guys are dragging bins and talking on top of their voice Worst hotel I ever stayed in

Stayed here 4 12 23 in a single room Cost 55 and a tenner would be plenty Room was full of pubic hair bits of paper tissue on the floor Toilet bowl still had poo etched on it Curtains draped off a wire I didn t dare to look at anything else as I was was stranded in Exeter due to trains not running because the lines were flooded Slept in my clothes to be on the safe side

After all the money spent on
After all the money spent on refurbishing this hotel you think they would invest in more for snagging not the best experience staying here the staff did their best Room not properly cleaned or hoovered in the 8 night stay breakfast was a complete shambles with some guests waiting over an hour for it Next years prices are extortionate on the same room won t be returning after staying as a guest for 5 years

Exorbitant charges poor breakfast and small rooms
We have been staying at the White Hart for over 5 years during the Steampunk Festival Weekend We ve enjoyed every stay except for August 2024 We received a call from the White Hart the day before confirming they were looking forward to our stay and we could have our usual room When we arrived our room was not ready and in fact the whole of that area was closed off being refurbished We have the same room every year as it s easier to access for my disability The room we were given was very small and not easy to move around with my disability This was the only one room available near the lift The room wasn t cleaned to a hotel standard and dirty cups were left in our room on the second day Breakfast was a shambles every day and people were waiting over an hour and then getting burnt food or the wrong food Staff were being shouted at and staff and customers quite upset There wasn t much improvement during the 5 day stay No one should experience what we saw especially when you are on holiday We did complain and received a small amount of compensation No money can remove the memories of our stay at the White Hart The White Hart have now increased their hotel stay for the same weekend in 2025 from around 155 to 229 per night Although the White Hart is in a perfect spot for the August Steampunk bank holiday weekend I cannot justify paying these exorbitant charges It s such a shame as it put a dampener on the whole weekend The hotel manager was supposed to cal me to let me know if they could offer a better price for the weekend as we are regular long standing customers I m still waiting It s such a shame you used to be so good What went wrong

Terrible night s sleep
This is a first for us as we have never had to make a bad review for any Hotel we have stayed in Truly terrible nights sleep i e didn t get any Live loud music from a female pub singer until 1 clock am in the morning This is the last thing you expect from any hotel especially after a long car journey we just wanted to relax Phone not working in the room so could not contact anyone about the noise - no staff downstairs either to speak to about the loud music levels Seems it is an ongoing problem at this hotel as many other reviewers mention its like this at any time of year This is a 3-star hotel at best the room was small overheated poorly maintained loose bathroom sink and no blinds at the clear bathroom window so no privacy Would not recommend staying here unless you like very loud music and below average rooms

Disinterested staff
Unfortunately my recent experience at Antlers Restaurant was a real letdown From the moment we arrived the staff seemed completely disinterested there was no warmth no enthusiasm and no sense of genuine hospitality Service was incredibly slow with long waits between courses and no real communication or attentiveness throughout It felt as though the team just wasn t engaged or motivated As for the food it was extremely disappointing Lacking in flavour and quality it fell far short of what you d expect especially given the premium pricing on the menu Overall the experience didn t reflect the standards Antlers seems to market itself on and certainly didn t justify the cost A real shame as it has potential but sadly that didn t come through on this visit
