I hired the narrator

I hired the narrator He produced the audio as a 6-hour book contrary to the 4-hour estimate I requested required a change He refused Just told me to get on Paypal and pay I requested to terminate but he refused ACX responded that I was only required to pay 50 of the estimated amount of the original agreement of 4 hours I was given 24 hours to reply to terminate or my personal information will be sent to the narrator I followed their instructions ACX gave out ALL my personal information anyway I was harassed and threatened and sent bogus identities from him to get me to respond I sent my concerns to ACX as to his threats of violence and then they went dark They shelter their narrators and exploit writers June 2022

I would not recommend ACX to anyone My audiobook which I had professionally narrated and on which the producer did a thoroughly outstanding job was on pending audio review for over two months Customer service responded with the samd canned e-mails about 30 business days but seemed unable or unwilling to explain how they could not get 30 business days out of over two months Promised promo codes finally arrived-for the UK Since this a crime police story set in Tampa that s hardly helpful I for one am sorry that I ever got involved with ACX I hope others can profit from my mistake and avoid this company

DO NOT DO ANY NARRATION WORK FOR ACX

As a narrator putting hours of work into recording and editing books to find them for sale when I have not been paid is despicable and underhand and it is theft I am disgusted but then again am starting to expect nothing more from an Amazon owned company DO NOT BUY FROM AMAZON OR DO ANY WORK FOR ACX

Security concerns

I did not expect my audition script and project budget to be put in the public domain as the first hit on Google when searching for my book title before it is even launched I called ACX who told me this is standard and not in the small print so clearly I do not intend pursuing this audiobook with ACX any further Surely the budget and script could be behind the narrator producer login as their recorded audio is Posting here as a buyer beware as I m sure there are others who would not expect ACX to treat this information in this way Just glad I didn t get to add in my bank details

It s a very difficult site to navigate

It s a very difficult site to navigate There is SORT OF a connection with the Amazon site but I ve spent a week trying to upload my audio and I m ready to give up The tenuous nature of the link with Amazon makes it impossible to communicate effectively My book is ready to upload but they have now made it impossible I give up

I was locked out of my account was unable to access it ever again

I was locked out of my account for no reason The main directive was for me to contact Amazon I did although Amazon couldn t help me because they said they were not connected to ACX s system I contact ACX directly and the customer service rep claimed she couldn t help me with my problem because I didn t give her the correct billing address to my account First I don t see how I could ve given her the wrong one but even if I did I said let s say I misspelled it she says there s no other way to get in Thank God I didn t have money sitting in my account that I would ve been losing This all seemed so random and echos many other people s reviews that their system customer services are TRASH and needlessly difficult

Used to be great pre-Amazon

They fired all the people who made ACX great and personable They used to actually care individually about the author and producer contracts Now we are just a sad number in a sea of forgotten creators who they don t bother to even pay regularly or respond to anymore Mackenzie who might have cared about the authors creative rights is now gone too 2018 and beyond has been a sad sad transition for ACX

Probably the worst company in the world

It is a not serious company scammer and literally steal your money I don t know why Amazon keeps getting bad publicity with these scammers who don t pay your royalties remove books for no reason and treat the producers like meat for slaughter Not to mention their QA made up of incompetents unable to meet the terms of their contract They invent mistakes to not send your books on sale Absolutely avoid getting your money cheated by them
