Beware the policy

Brilliant s has an excellent array of problems My experience with them has been good

A bit disappointing

Even though you canceled and closed your Brilliant account they will gladly continue to charge your bank account However the support can help you with that

It s good but use of American

I was primarily looking for a course in differential equations but did not find the course on Brilliant particularly helpful I only used my one-year subscribtion for a short time Be aware that Brilliant does not provide notification before auto-renewing the subscribtion and normally don t provide refunds either The unsubscribe procedure is a bit questionable in my opinion Be sure to get documentation if you choose to cancel the subscribtion

Not as bad as you think but still bad

It s good but use of American expressions and meanings can lead you to give correct answers that are marked wrong Take the example of four faces Two are smiling and two are not The question asks to group by frown To many the frown is expressed with eyebrows but elsewhere it s expressed with the mouth So answering the question with my cultural meaning it is marked as incorrect The slightly condescending explanation tells me about the mouth That s annoying

Brilliant is trustworthy institution but

I think you will lose money if you use free trial of premium If you just log in or sign up without use free trial of premium you can t lose money but your expirience is not as good as when you use premium They also say after you use free trial of premium you will lose money to continue using That is just my theory may be even I just sign up or log in after a week I will lose money
C

Not as advertised

Brilliant is trustworthy institution when it comes to owning reality But in fairness I signed up for a trial and then the after 7 days I was billed 115 for a year s subscription automatically I was displease Their customer service person Kenzie is literally the only reason I am not trashing this review entirely They returned my money but sampler beware of the auto renewal

Not Brilliant Enough

Not as advertised I ve subscribed to brilliant org and I ve been doing the linear algebra course So far its no different from something Id get from a textbook It s nothing like the advertisements you might see for brilliant org where they show you clever and intuitive animations Many times I ve gone over to youtube to have a topic explained properly through animation So far animations are not used at all in the linear algebra course

The app is interesting and rich caveats

The thing I don t like about it is that it does not ultimately provide free education for poor students
J

so so many words

The app is interesting and rich but its way of arranging the topics and presenting them might not be for everyone myself included This is something important to consider when thinking of committing to a 1 year subscription it would be ideal if the service offered monthly subscriptions as well as it took me two months to realize how my learning meshed with the app I cancelled my account and the customer service team was gracious enough to initiate a partial refund for the time I did not use the app though it took them a while to respond because for some reason the email provided in the app is not as monitored anymore I appreciated the help and swiftness with the refund once they saw my email

Technical and general support is good but links for reporting problems have dissappeared

Technical and general support is excellent and extremely fast I sent an email about a problem with my account and received a solution within a few minutes Content wise topics in the courses and subsequent questions are both original and helpful providing an intuitive view of difficult mathematical topics but the coverage of the topics in courses is limited relative to standard textbooks E g in the multivariable calculus course there is no mention of line and surface integrals and related theorems Thus these courses should be seen more as advanced introductory courses than full academic courses which is not at all a bad thing In a few cases however I have albeit not often come across some strange mathematical logical inaccuracies and even downright mistakes in the courses I took On at least 3 different occasions the last being about a month ago the first a few years back I made the effort to explain in detail the mistakes I came across and reported it to Brilliant via the question mark link attached to each solution which is meant for exactly this purpose To date I have received no response not even an acknowledgement that my report has been received not to mentioned reviewed
