Illegal behaviour
After I picked up my prescription they threatened me saying they would challenge me if I don t have a doctor s note saying why I m exempt from wearing a face covering On the government s website it says Carrying an exemption card or badge is a personal choice and is not required by law So even though I showed them the official government badge that wasn t enough for them I m very surprised they are still allowed to operate with illegal behavior like this

I recently had an appointment with my GP who made me feel very uncomfortable when I said I was exempt from wearing a face mask I told him I was exempt and he just literally stared at me for a good 10 seconds in silence giving me a very uncomfortable stare He then asked me again why I wasn t wearing a face covering almost as if he didn t hear me the first time when I said I was legally exempt He then tried to ask for my badge and I proceeded to tell him that I am NOT legally required to even carry a badge much less show it on demand Anyway I left a review to reflect this experience and thought no more of it Today I hear that my partner also went in to the GP to pick up a prescription in Langley House Chichester today She said that she was legally exempt and apparently the lady behind the counter was rude in dealing with her and seemed to not understand what was being said Anyway later on someone from Langley House actually PHONED her to follow up and told her that next time we ll challenge you for not wearing a mask and demand that you show a badge or letter from a doctor I was literally speechless Well unluckily for whoever made that call I know the law surrounding this very well It is NOT legally required to wear a face covering if you are exempt It is also NOT legally required to show ANY sort of badge letter or certificate Whoever told the staff at Langley House that is completely wrong I quote below directly from the government website and I ve linked to the source where they clearly state no proof of exemption is required whatsoever Exemption cardsIf you have an age health or disability reason for not wearing a face covering you do not routinely need to show any written evidence of thisyou do not need show an exemption cardThis means that you do not need to seek advice or request a letter from a medical professional about your reason for not wearing a face covering However some people may feel more comfortable showing something that says they do not have to wear a face covering This could be in the form of an exemption card badge or even a home-made sign Carrying an exemption card or badge is a personal choice and is not required by law SOURCE UK Gov website can t link here Firstly it s absolutely insane to demand to see a badge or letter It s like Nazi Germany where the Jews were demanded to show their papers and to wear a yellow star Even crazier is why the law exists in the first place as there is NO data or evidence to show masks have any effect on transmission In fact they INCREASE bacterial infection and transmission which I m sure you would know if you d looked at all of the data

First Class Service
I have nothing but praise for Langley House Surgery They have supported me through a very tough few years The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful and always accommodate my requests and needs I have had far too many appointments over the last few years both emergency on the day appointments on one occasion I rang at 8am the phone was answered immediately and I had an appointment with my usual GP face to face at 8 30 and routine appointments 2-3 week wait I always ask for a particular GP due to consistency and the fact he knows everything I have been going through and I don t have to explain it to someone new which would probably take more than one appointment slot plus I find it difficult to trust and feel comfortable with new people so sticking with the same GP helps me to discuss my issues and get the right help that I need I am always given an appointment with my preferred GP unless he is on leave and it s an emergency Dr Gareth Bowen-Perkins is fantastic He listens is patient and has always given spot of advice and treatment plans He has stopped me doing something really stupid on a few occasions The surgery never closed its doors during the pandemic except an hour at lunchtime but all consultations were by telephone unless the GP needed to see you - which was great as I didn t want to go out of the house much when off on long term sick and then I was back working full time and it was easier to take a phone call than go to the surgery Since coming out of lockdowns they have given face to face appointments everytime as I ask for them now I still prefer them and now only work part-time but telephone appointments are still good at times I love the use of econsult that the surgery continues to use as it means the doctor has the information about the reason for your appointment before you enter the room which saves time and leaves more time to discuss the problem wtihout having to explain it first I have always with no exception heard back within the specified timescale First class service ever since we became patients in 2018 and that service has been maintained even in very difficult times A fantastic team Thank you for all you do

Exemplary
My husband and I registered at Langley House when we relocated to the UK in 2022 We have been very very pleased to date with the service we have received at this GP surgery Reception deals with phone calls very efficiently e g if there is a queue when you call to make an appointment they can call you back respecting your number in the queue They really listen to your reasons for calling and appointments have always been within a reasonable time scale They are also very kind polite and always smile As for the doctors working at this surgery we have been seen by a few and they have all been thorough professional and caring At 66 and 83 we are very grateful for feeling well looked after especially at a time when unfortunately many in the UK appear to have genuine complaints about their local GP surgeries Thank you Langley House
