Worst Customer Service Ever

Everything was all great until you sell and want to access your funds Customer service takes forever to respond and it seems like they only have two people working for them and they only respond to calls and emails once a week I believe in Fine Wine as an investment but don t trust your money with a company that does t take getting your money back to you seriously

Be warned

Steer clear from this company There is no way to withdraw money yourself and you have to go through support Unfortunately it becomes very difficult to get ahold of someone When calling no one answers If leaving a voicemail it goes unreturned When emailing they will respond to maybe 1 5 emails and often 1 week before reply I ve been trying to get 1 000 back from them for nearly a month Building customer trust should be a cornerstone of any young company and this critical area leaves much to be desired I ve had to file a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau to hopefully spur a response from Vinovest

Vinovest is a Scam

Vinovest is a Scam Expected ROI and what they sell you are far from reality I decided to liquidate my investment and pay the monthly fee due and overall I was already negative It s been since June and they have not returned the money I invested with them Thankfully I did not start big as I wanted to test it out There are far more reputable options like Fundraise let s or alternative investments to diversify your portfolio This company is a hoax

Very disappointed with my experience

Very disappointed with my experience with Vinovest the collection of my investment money was very quick and easy however when I decided to exit my investment it has been nothing but a headache I have been trying to exit for over 8 months and have had what they have called software bugs and lack of support in liquidating my wines After all of this time I have only been able to sell 2 of my 19 holdings all at losses I would not recommend this company and have no clarity on when and how I can get out

READ BEFORE INVESTING

Started with 10k down to 8 5k after 2 years I went to liquidate my account and cut my losses only to find out I have to put each of my wines up for auction If I use their suggested auction price I d lose another 2 5k So I went 25 higher than their suggested bid just to get 8k back with a to loss of 20 It s sad that I d be happy with a loss of only 20 Somehow I doubt I will sell anything WOULD NOT RECOMMEND

You will lose money

Vinovest is great at marketing But they overpay when they buy your wines and their valuations are grossly inflated For everyone leaving glowing reviews - try to sell your wines No one will pay you Vinovest s valuation if you can even get an offer You have lost money you just don t know it yet And all the while Vinovest collects their monthly fees Put your money in an S P 500 ETF UPDATE -- Vinovest is attempting to get this review removed if I don t identify myself which I don t intend to do Not a single one of my wines has sold and I get a slew of offers at 70 of the value put on the wines by Vinovest I am going to lose a lot of money here

Unethical business practices steep losses

Where do I begin I invested 10K 2 years ago over several installments I m currently down 11 which is very underwhelming for an investment that was supposed to be uncorrelated with the stock market The figure with -11 unrealized loss is the supposed market value of my vines whatever that means not the value that I can sell it for I ve been trying to liquidate for 4 straight months and the best bids I ve gotten on their marketplace lowball by 20-30 so I m essentially stuck unless I m willing to accept a 40 total loss Not at all what I was expecting Secondly and more importantly the company s ethics are highly questionable When I signed up they advertised on their website that customers are never charged any fees for selling 60 days after their purchase date They changed their terms after I invested They are now charging a 1 5 selling fee and refuse to honor their original terms to me which further increases my losses They also promised that selling on reasonable terms would always be possible and that they personally hand-hold customers through liquidations They even used to have a marketing punt on their website saying your investment is liquid pun intended Turns out all of that was a lie too I understand the business landscape changes and have a lot of sympathy for startups creating brand-new products but there is no excuse for pulling the rug from under your users especially your early users Vinovest is an unethical company and I don t recommend anyone use their product I will update my review if I receive any meaningful response from Vinovest

Terrible returns during inflation times

I started to invest with Vinovest about 1 5 years ago as a mean of diversification and based on the claim they had better performance than the S P500 As of today my portfolio is down 8 against the inital value in dollar As a matter of fact it is down 18 if you factor in the depreciation of the dollar during the same time I invested to fight inflation and it went the opposite direction my investment got depreciated against a highly depreciating currency If I wanted to sell right now by looking at the comments I could expect to get 75 of the price displayed by Vinovest That means if I would sell now at these conditions I would have lost 43 of my investment and this in a matter of 1 5 year This is a complete fail what else can I say I believe Vinovest is over-paying the wines that they buy for their customers and I believe their selection is not very good since most of the wines they selected for me lost their value Obviously it does not make sense to sell now before the selling window so I will wait but the experience so far is painful

Frequently Asked Questions

Vinovest is a digital investment platform that specializes in making fine wine investing accessible. It treats high-quality wine as a tangible, alternative asset class, using technology and expert curation to allow individuals to build and manage a diversified portfolio of physical wine without needing deep prior knowledge or handling logistics like storage and authentication.

New investors start by answering questions to assess their risk tolerance and goals. Vinovest's algorithm, informed by market data and expert sommeliers, then creates a personalized portfolio of investment-grade wines. The platform handles sourcing, secure storage in insured, climate-controlled facilities, active portfolio management, and facilitates liquidity when you decide to sell, all managed through an online dashboard or mobile app.

Fine wine is considered an alternative asset class due to its historical low correlation with traditional stock markets, potentially offering a hedge during volatility. Its value can appreciate over time due to the finite supply of premium vintages, which become rarer as they mature and are consumed, driven by factors like critic scores, producer reputation, and market demand.

Wines are selected by a team of wine experts and master sommeliers employed by Vinovest. They curate investment-grade bottles based on rigorous criteria including critical scores, producer reputation, vintage quality, and prevailing market demand to construct diversified portfolios aligned with your investment profile.

All wine purchased through Vinovest is stored in insured, professionally managed, climate-controlled facilities located globally. This ensures optimal aging conditions, maintains provenance (crucial for value), and eliminates the need for personal storage, providing security and peace of mind for the investor.

About Vinovest

Vinovest: An Introduction to Fine Wine Investing

Vinovest is a digital investment platform that specializes in making the historically exclusive world of fine wine investing accessible to a broader audience. The company operates on the principle that high-quality wine is not only a consumable luxury but also a tangible, alternative asset class with the potential for appreciation. By leveraging technology, expert curation, and professional storage, Vinovest aims to demystify the process, allowing both novice and experienced investors to build a diversified portfolio of physical wine.

How Vinovest Works

The platform simplifies a traditionally complex process into a streamlined, user-friendly experience. Investors begin by answering a series of questions to determine their risk tolerance and investment goals. Based on this profile, Vinovest's proprietary algorithm, informed by market data and expert sommeliers, constructs a personalized portfolio. This portfolio consists of bottles and cases of carefully selected wines from renowned regions like Bordeaux, Burgundy, Napa Valley, and Italy.

Key operational pillars of the service include:

  • Sourcing & Curation:A team of wine experts and master sommeliers selects investment-grade wines based on critical scores, producer reputation, vintage quality, and market demand.
  • Secure Storage:All purchased wine is immediately transferred to insured, climate-controlled facilities across the globe. This ensures provenance, optimal aging conditions, and eliminates the burden of personal storage.
  • Portfolio Management:Vinovest actively monitors the market and provides periodic rebalancing recommendations to help optimize portfolio performance.
  • Liquidity Facilitation:When an investor decides to sell, Vinovest assists by leveraging its network to find buyers, handling logistics, and ensuring a secure transaction.

The Investment Thesis for Fine Wine

Vinovest educates potential investors on the characteristics that make fine wine a unique asset. The platform highlights its historically low correlation to traditional stock markets, which can provide a hedge during economic volatility. Furthermore, the finite nature of premium wine—especially from exceptional vintages—creates a supply-and-demand dynamic that can drive value appreciation over time as the wine matures and becomes rarer. The platform provides transparency through portfolio tracking, performance analytics, and detailed insights into each holding.

Platform Accessibility and Offerings

Vinovest is designed to lower the traditional barriers to entry, such as high capital requirements and specialized knowledge. Investors can start with relatively modest minimums. The platform offers different account tiers, from managed portfolios for hands-off investors to more customized options for those wishing to be more involved in selection. All activities, from browsing the portfolio to tracking estimated value, are managed through a clean, intuitive online dashboard or mobile app.

Key Considerations for Investors

While presenting the opportunities, Vinovest also acknowledges important considerations. Fine wine investing is typically a long-term strategy, with horizons often spanning five to ten years or more. As with any alternative asset, performance is not guaranteed, and values can fluctuate based on global economic conditions, critic reviews, and collector trends. All investments are held as physical assets, and liquidity, while facilitated, may not be as immediate as selling publicly traded securities.

In summary, Vinovest positions itself as a modern gateway to the asset class of fine wine. It combines oenological expertise with financial technology to offer a structured, secure, and simplified approach to building and managing a portfolio of investment-grade wines. By handling the complexities of sourcing, authentication, storage, and sales, it allows individuals to potentially diversify their investments with an asset that has a centuries-old history of value and cultural significance.
