On balance a somewhat blunt tool
I paid 27 95 each for a personality test and a career test as I am at a crossroads with my career communications and wanted to see some insights into what other careers I could consider I am over 50 and I find communications very ageist so I would like to change into something else I know what I want to do something creative such as interior design but I need to earn money while I change careers I saw that you could pay 1 95 or so for some tests but that you had to sign up to a subscription you could cancel within seven days or so These types of offers make me suspicious so to be on the safe side I paid the full price The personality test was 300 questions and the career test was 150 questions The career one had very general questions like Do you like team work Do you like socialising with people Some of the results I received were ludicrous - it suggested I could be a computer user support specialist and my partner and I were rolling around laughing at that as I am rubbish with technology It also suggested aeronautical engineer robotics engineer and an automotive and mechanical engineer I said I liked the idea of making things but am not mathematical or logical in that way so I think it s a blunt tool really Apparently it is based on the Holland Code test but if it is abridged or has been overly adapted then maybe this is why it comes up with odd results The reports I received contained some more interesting results but I was somewhat suspicious as the English is not quite quite right with odd phrasing and there are a number of spelling igh instead of High and Extraversie instead of extraversion I think that is the Dutch spelling and grammar mistakes eg missing full stops and no gaps between some words I imagine it s just knocked out with AI With the money I paid I got access to the free tests and one of the questions was Would I like to walk to neighbour s dog and other very simplistic questions which would tell you nothing really Doing it online is easy but I think the books are better or seek the help of a proper professional Or stick with your gut instincts early on in life
