It s a sausage factory of entitled men

It s a sausage factory of entitled men who are using apps to rebound They re either in relationships running away from reality or themselves or they re cycling themselves out from one app to another with just a swipe of a credit card and no vetting Apps should implement BACKGROUND checks on these men Majority of them hide who they are and what they do clearly to avoid consequences If a man doesn t trust himself why shouldAnyone else Most of these men rush you to date them vs actually engaging doing a phone call face time what a normal person would do Instead they want your number after 2 messages and if you don t validate them they unmatch I won t give my number to anyone unless they make an effort to ensure I feel safe it s the entitlement of American men that I despise Would not recommend apps Too many chronically lonely broken men dating for validation Majority of these men should be in therapy but no they will use women to stroke ego No thanks One thing you can t get back is the time you give aimless broken men

Mixed feelings

This is an okay site for looking for a more serious relationship You get the least swipes per day I ve seen on a dating site well under 10 I find the layout of the site itself unappealing and strange The site can occasionally be slow However there s little or no spam and the site seems to have taken criticism of other dating sites on board with how it is put together Overall mixed feelings

Frequently Asked Questions

Hinge's core mission is to foster genuine connections that lead to meaningful, long-term relationships, with the ultimate goal of users no longer needing the app, encapsulated in its slogan 'Designed to be Deleted.' It differentiates itself by prioritizing depth over breadth, moving away from mindless, appearance-based swiping. Instead, Hinge encourages thoughtful interaction through detailed profiles built on personal prompts, photos, and voice notes, which serve as natural conversation starters.

Hinge profiles are built around 'Prompts'—creative, personal questions that users answer—combined with photos and optional voice notes. This creates a multi-dimensional view. To express interest, users in the free tier must send a 'like' accompanied by a specific comment on a profile element (a photo or prompt answer). This design enforces meaningful initial engagement. The app also uses an algorithm that learns from user interactions and feedback from features like 'We Met' to provide personalized recommendations, including a daily curated 'Standouts' feed.

Key features of Hinge include: Prompts and Media for detailed profiles; Likes with Comment to encourage substantive first interactions; the Standouts Feed, a daily curated selection of profiles; the We Met Feature, a private feedback tool that asks users if a date occurred to refine the algorithm; and detailed Compatibility Preferences for setting filters on dealbreakers like distance, age, family plans, and more. The platform also emphasizes safety with community guidelines, reporting tools, and inclusive options for gender identity and sexual orientation.

Hinge offers a robust free tier that includes sending likes with comments, seeing mutual likes, and setting basic preferences. For enhanced features, two premium subscriptions are available: Hinge+ and HingeX. These paid tiers typically offer benefits such as unlimited likes, advanced preference filters (e.g., for education or political views), and increased visibility in others' feeds, particularly within the Standouts section. Specific features and pricing are detailed within the app and on the official website, hinge.co.

Hinge emphasizes user safety through clear community guidelines, detailed safety tips for online and offline dating, and robust in-app reporting and blocking tools. To foster inclusivity, the app provides extensive options for gender identity and sexual orientation during profile setup. The company's commitment is further demonstrated through resources like 'Hinge Labs,' a blog offering dating insights and advice, and by designing the platform to encourage genuine connections based on personality and compatibility.

About Hinge

Hinge: The Dating App Designed to Be Deleted

Hinge is a modern dating application that distinguishes itself in the crowded online dating market with a clear, user-centric mission: to foster genuine connections that lead to meaningful relationships, ultimately making the app itself obsolete. Operating under the memorable slogan "Designed to be Deleted," Hinge positions itself as an anti-swipe platform, encouraging thoughtful interaction over mindless browsing. Its primary website, hinge.co, serves as an informative gateway to the app's philosophy, features, and download options.

Core Philosophy and User Experience

Unlike apps that prioritize rapid, appearance-based swiping, Hinge is built on the principle of depth over breadth. The platform is structured to prompt users to engage with each other's personalities from the outset. This is primarily achieved through its unique profile setup, which revolves around "Prompts." Users answer creative, personal questions (e.g., "Two truths and a lie," "I won't shut up about...") and combine these with photos and voice notes. This format provides natural conversation starters, moving interactions beyond a simple "like" and reducing the pressure of crafting an opening message.

Key Features and Functionality

The Hinge experience is defined by several intentional features accessible via the mobile app, detailed on the website:

  • Prompts and Media:Profiles are a dynamic mix of answered prompts, photos, and voice prompts, offering a multi-dimensional view of a person.
  • Likes with Comment:The free version of Hinge requires users to send a like accompanied by a specific comment on a profile element (a photo or prompt answer). This design enforces meaningful engagement from the first interaction.
  • Standouts Feed:A daily curated selection of profiles that Hinge's algorithm determines are most aligned with a user's demonstrated preferences and past interactions.
  • We Met Feature:An invaluable feedback tool for Hinge's algorithm. After matching and exchanging numbers, Hinge privately asks users if they went on a date and if they would like to see more people like their match. This direct feedback loop helps refine future recommendations.
  • Compatibility Preferences:Users can set detailed filters for dealbreakers, including distance, age, height, ethnicity, religion, family plans, and substance use, allowing for more targeted matching.

Membership Tiers

Hinge offers a robust free tier that includes sending likes with comments, seeing all mutual likes, and setting basic preferences. For users seeking enhanced control and visibility,Hinge+andHingeXare subscription options. These premium tiers offer benefits like unlimited likes, advanced preferences (e.g., filtering by education or political views), and increased visibility in others' feeds, particularly within the Standouts section.

Safety, Inclusivity, and Resources

The hinge.co website emphasizes the platform's commitment to user safety and inclusivity. It provides clear community guidelines, detailed safety tips for online and offline dating, and robust reporting tools. Hinge also fosters an inclusive environment, offering extensive gender identity and sexual orientation options during profile setup. Furthermore, the site hosts "Hinge Labs," a blog featuring dating insights, advice, and research based on user data, positioning Hinge as a thought leader in the relationship space.

Target Audience and Conclusion

Hinge primarily targets singles who are looking for serious, long-term relationships rather than casual encounters. Its design appeals to users frustrated with the superficial nature of other apps and who are willing to invest time in creating a detailed profile and engaging in substantive conversations. By focusing on authentic self-expression and algorithmically driven compatibility, Hinge.co successfully markets an app that aims not just to facilitate dates, but to help users find lasting connection and, ultimately, delete the app for good.
