The society portrays itself as a big deal but has little to no actual value Further the society has little to no safeguards in place to protect students from abuse It does not provide the value that they claim and it s sad how they are taking advantage of vulnerable students

Phi Theta Kappa has questionable practices
I joined Phi Theta Kappa anticipating significant academic and networking benefits but ended up significantly disappointed Not only were the promised scholarships and support non-existent despite high dues and costly conventions but the organization also seems to lack effective measures to protect its members from potential mistreatment This gap between what is advertised and the reality has made me question the integrity and priorities of the organization I advise potential members to approach with caution keeping in mind these serious concerns

Whenever I see the post of PTK it says that students will develop leadership skills and bla-bla But I have been a PTK member for more than a year but never met any friends or got a chance to communicate with other fellow members It didn t help me to develop my personal skills in any way

Why did you make me do this survey
I had a bad experience with the organization They invited me to the honor day and kept contacting me to be sure that I agreed to join them and pay the fee I was so frustrated and disappointed during the honor day because I did not find my name among the other honored students on the invitation card That s besides nobody contacted me to tell me to come earlier and enter with other students It was embarrassing that I had to write my name on the back of a piece of paper so they could call me on the stage Then I contacted them to raise my concern and frustration however nobody replied back like they did not care that s besides that I spoke to their leader during the honor day and she took my name to check the problem and promised to get back to me but she did not I believe that the organization is not well established and organized and not professional lack of communication It did not help me with any kind of social skill improvement All I can say is that I can put in on my resume

After I paid them I never heard from them again The membership has no value and I m really upset about how they treat student s time and money Sadly they don t offer a refund so be wary of joining

This is a scam and offers no value in the present or in the future Does not enhance your resume at all and may in fact do the exact opposite in that it points out that you can be lured in by false promises and your ability to seek out find information before committing to a course of action

Not worth the money you put in
I agree with the other negative reviews on here I have been a member for almost two years I am a member of an online only chapter which has never met or had any events I got absolutely nothing from the money I paid but something to put on my resume which may or may not make a difference I m leaning toward may not It s just a way to show you have a high GPA without outright stating it on your resume I guess I joined the national society for Leadership and success aka NSLS before this one and I d hoped for a better experience with PTK But no more if the same which is more of absolutely nothing

Goofball Organization
Phi Theta Kappa does not value its members at all I paid my member dues and I feel like they just ran off with it The chapter does not seem to be active at my school and I am transferring next year so really what is the point I don t believe it s worth joining
