Gesha Wush-wush and a little extra

I am writing a second review for Scenery coffee as in truth I had been wanting to write an individual review against each product I ve consumed from them My first encounter with Scenery coffee was a Sidra coffee in a local coffee shop which was served as a hand drip coffee and delicious I bought a bag of said beans and worked to replicate the same effect at home and proceeded to begin buying from Scenery directly to resupply Latest purchases include The El Fenix Wush-wush a rare varietal which I found a little tricky to brew right Scenery s recommendation of using 99 deg C water reflects that a higher intensity of extraction is required to bring out the flavour of this coffee Once adapted to the character of the bean I found a brew of this coffee to be as advertised very silky in texture with a delicate tea-like aroma and a gently sweet citrus bite Add that I ve seen other suppliers selling Wush-wush for 100 a 150g bag and this offering from Scenery is top-drawer for both consumption experience and value The Quebraditas Gesha was so delicious I had to buy it twice In a certain way I feel like it s spoiling my relationship to other varietals as this Gesha has such a powerful fruity and floral aroma and flavour that other beans seem a little anaemic by comparison Almost pungent on the nose this coffee is easy to get plenty of flavour from and works well with almost any recipe The only drawback is that you re likely to run out before you ve managed to experiment with every world brewers cup method you ve always wanted to try I have ordered more from Scenery since this review but am yet to taste the new delivery since their helpful recommended resting time for coffee beans suggest it ll be another 3 weeks before I can open my new bags One other thing I thought I d like to note is how much I like the branding The theme of scenes from the different suppliers locales and the colour-wash painting of the images is very pleasantly transporting and I prefer it a great deal to many other more sober and abstract visual devices that come with products from other sellers If Scenery ever had the inclination to expand abroad I feel this branding would be popular in Japan and or Singapore In Japan in particular dark and medium roasts are prevalent meaning finding consistently good light roasts can be surprisingly tricky despite the nation s love of hand drip coffee In Singapore and elsewhere on the Malaysian peninsula the traditional method of coffee consumption since the colonial period is kopi a variation in which beans are sugar-glazed during roasting and often enjoyed with condensed milk or black as kopi-O Modern Singaporeans love food and drink culture again meaning there is a demand for tasty modern light roasted coffee but a little less supply than might be desirable Perhaps there s a market gap to be filled In any case I think Scenery provide top-notch service an excellent product and more than a little intangible extra value to their work I hope to continue my happy custom with them
