Unreliable
Despite everyone being nice when I call every experience I ve had here has a been a complete disaster Getting my tank installed and hooked up took at least three maybe four appts because no one knew what the prior person had done or said And now I need it re-hooked up - waited two weeks for an appt no one showed when I called was told I was bumped for an emergency and had to wait another two weeks 1 Why wouldn t emergencies be built into the schedule and 2 Why wouldn t they accommodate a sooner appt due to an issue on their end Thank god I don t need this gas for something critical like heat I guess when you don t have much competition you can treat people however you want

Not a pleasant experience
Beware the after hours call My neighbor smelled propane leaking from my 250 gallon tank Suburban originally set up my tank with a new regulator and gauge about 7 years ago I found the leaks with soapy water and turned off the valve I don t know why Suburban felt it necessary to come out after hours when I called them but they did and I had no idea I would be charged nearly 3X the normal service call fee 255 If they had informed me of this I would have told them to wait until normal hours At the end of the day all the service rep did was turn on the gas perform the same leak check I did then turn off the gas Total value of this service 0 I asked to have the charges reduced but they would not accommodate so I paid the bill and closed the account All of this was no surprise once I found out they are a California based company I will be engaging one of the many Texas based outfits going forward for tanks at two locations in the Texas Hill Country By the way I m also not surprised to see that the vast majority of feedback about this company is rated 1 star and that s probably being generous as I don t believe 0 stars is allowed

Terrible company
Terrible thieving company Called and made an appointment for service closest date time was about 2wks out no problem So the date arrives and the guy shows up After about 10 mins he says he can t read the tag on the tank and therefore can t work on it ok that s annoying but whatever right Nope Imagine our surprise when we get hit with an emergency call charge as well as charges for parts and labor He literally did NOTHING I don t mind paying a service charge for him coming out but trying to tack on these extra other charges is flat out pathetic Don t waste your money there are much better options than these scammers Found a much better local company who came out 3bdays later that actually did the work these guys claimed they did

If I could give negative stars
If I could give negative stars I would They charged us 2 1 2 times market rate to refill our tank when we didn t need or request a refill Their contract is a scam contract that allows them far too much leeway to charge whatever they like They suck people in with their initial promotional offer and then price gouge I would never recommend nor use this business ever again

Suburban has gone downhill
We ve been with Suburban Propane since 1999 We recently had our tank topped off and they charged us almost 1 00 more than the competitors Then the technician discovered a leak on September 21st and turned off our gas They wouldn t get the technician to come back until October 7th No heat no cook stove Asked twice to speak with a manager and nobody has ever returned my call When our tank is empty we re switching to a better company The customer service at Suburban is HORRIBLE

Honest communication with customers and service tech delays
Suburban Propane has major issues with true communication with thier customers Took over 3 months to get a tank installed and up and running for whole home generator It took the Office Manager Tammy Hunt almost 2 months to tell me Suburban could not do the piping even though she sent me an estimate with the piping included Once I had the piping done and repairs to the piping I have about 25days tied up getting the tech back out to turn the gas on The company needs to review how to be honest with customers and have more service technicians The date of experience is when tank was delivered

Unscrupulous business practice
Unscrupulous business practice Should not be providing service in California Price gouging They offer auto refill without informing the consumers of the increase in price We were charge for refill at 6 75 per gallon There s the rationale in this pricing except greed and gouging How can they justify this pricing when other companies are paying between 2 45 to 2 65

6 35 gallon really
Tank rental fee just jumped 480 and last fillup was at 6 35 gallon Will cost almost 200 to have them take back their equipment but probably worth it in the long run to get to a much cheaper company who doesn t nickle and dime and charge outrageous prices Its cheaper for me to fill my grill propane tank then get it from Suburban
