Great fun and wonderful teachings

The community of this Urban Sketch Course is just so uplifting everyone is so supportive and I think Ian is a very great teacher to help grow your skills and understandings on urban sketching how to use colors white space layering details perspectives compositions all of it are mentioned in all of his workshops I have learned so many things and if you want to grow your skills as well this might be exactly what you need

After one year of being a member of the USK

Many thanks for this wonderful evening via zoom to celebrate a Christmas Party with Ian and his team and also for an incredibly enriching year There is a lot of work in your USK school and I would like to thank you again for that I started the membership in February 2023 and it has become a very important part of my life

Great Experience

GREAT I am relatively new to watercolors and sketching having taken up both after retirement Ian is a wonderful teacher and the Beginners Course is worth taking I did not try to do any drawings while watching for the first time After viewing all videos in a project I attempted the drawing

I enjoyed doing the Chester clock

I enjoyed doing the Chester clock It was great and I liked doing the old banger It has has opened my eyes to loose painting and this method of interpretation I haven t been able to follow it up dye to health and family issues

Informative and fun

Thoroughly enjoyed the course even though my efforts fell well short But I am still practising The lessons on colour mixing and perspective were most helpful the kind that can make a lifelong impact on your work They were simply and effectively presented making them seem easy and instantly memorable I had absolutely no problems with the course but the encouraging e-mails from support meant that if I had there was always someone on hand to help me out Thank you to Ian and his team

Beginners course an excellent introduction to urban sketching

After watching the free tutorial on Ian s website and instantly seeing the professional relaxed teaching approach to his watercolour classes I had to purchase the beginner s course Having established myself as an artist in gouache it s always good to learn new mediums and style that Ian offers I m sure I will be watching this tutorial a few time over the coming years I also purchased the robin hoods bay course and look forward to reviewing that also Chris Osborne

If you are hesitating - don t You have to try this course

This is an absolutely fantastic course and is packed full of tips and techniques Some so called courses are just demonstrations - not this one It gives you step by step instruction in real time not sped up of how Ian creates his sketches and includes advice on colour choices and how to choose your scene There are also quick sketch videos which are brilliant for teaching how to do quick sketches when you are travelling and may not have the time to do a full rendition sketch It really is a wealth of information

So much fun with loads to learn and explore

A very well presented and simple course to follow I learned so much about pen work drawing perspective and colour It has loosened my work and I now find watercolour far more fun and enjoyable so much so I ve joined the urban sketchers plus group Highly recommend Ian Fennelly courses

Beginner enabled

I m only part way through the course saving it for my holiday but it is full of info mini workshops as well as the main lessons and Ian s teaching style is relaxed and easy to understand and follow Highly recommend to anyone starting out You will surprise yourself in what you achieve very quickly
