No Teaching they just take your money

I got my BSN through WGU and it was a great experience That was several years past I can no longer recommend this University I am in the Masters of Health Leadership and there is no teaching happening The classes are poorly designed constantly being changed for the better but that hasn t helped me Total waste of time and money Very disappointing

Would not recommend

Did my second Masters with WGU Did not enjoy it at all I did the curriculum program in teachers college The evaluations committee is horrible and inconsistent It is very hard and stressful to finish in 1 term bc evaluations are tedious and take several days for every revision turnaround Doesn t feel like you re learning as much as you re playing a game I believe WGU overworks their professors and mentors You don t get a lot of support either You re basically on your own- I rarely if ever heard from my mentor They need to hire more mentors professors and esp evaluators I would def not recommend this college I did not enjoy the program at all

HR degree does not provide real value

I just graduated with my Bachelor s in Human Resources I was able to complete the degree in 8 months I do not feel like I truly learned anything So many classes were insanely easy and of zero value I am not prepared to be an HR professional My mentor was not helpful Teachers didn t respond to messages for help and would delete anything negative in course chatter I had to use a ton of outside resources I had considered coming back for my Masters or a second Bachelor s but I do not see the point

AWFUL experience with mentor and field experience

The coursework was fine and prepared me for the exam needed for Utah licensure not very helpful when living in Ohio However I had an AWFUL experience with my mentor as well as the field experience department They did not cooperate with Ohio state laws and delayed my graduation 6 months My mentor was never prepared and did not have answers for questions regarding my progress I would not recommend this program to Ohio educators

I had a great experience until DT

I had a great experience until DT I was placed with an almost abusive Ht and WGU would not do anything In fact they told me to stop complaining or I d get dropped from the program DT and my Ht made my life so unbearable I m not sure how I survived I had a horrible clinical supervisor too Only my mentor was good- and she was very supportive But she could not change my situation

Not sure what changed

I previously completed a BSN and a MSN- Nursing Management Leadership I attended WGU from 2016-2020 During my time there I had an amazing experience My enrollment counselor was awesome patient and easy to talk to My course mentors were amazing and always took the time to understand any issues I was having My program mentor was a perfect match I loved interacting with her and she kept me motivated I recently decided that I wanted to return to school to achieve my MBA I obviously looked into WGU first because of my previous experience there This experience was anything but amazing It was awful from the first interaction When I called the first time I made an appointment to speak with an enrollment counselor She called and was one of the rudest people I ve ever spoken to She cut me off anytime I tried to speak or ask a question She just kept saying Ok well lets get you enrolled the next start date is October 1 I kept trying to explain to her that I had questions and had not made a decision yet but she continued to cut me off I finally decided to end the conversation and speak to someone else When I called back I reached someone else I explained my experience to him and he responded Well did you need to speak directly to me Or could someone else help you Because I am in the middle of a meeting and don t have time I explained that I did not have a preference as long as it wasn t the previous person I spoke to I did not get transferred the call was disconnected I then called back and a guy attempted to transfer me to someone but then told me no one was available and I made an appointment He called me back 2 hours later and said the person I made an appointment was no longer available for the time I made another appointment When my appointment came the counselor immediately started talking about enrolling me in the program I explained that I had questions before I made a decision and his tone changed He became very condescending and degrading I hung up and will not be attending WGU again This is truly upsetting because I had such a great experience there previously Hopefully this is a fleeting issue and their customer service standards raise again

Be careful

My experience with WGU started out really good It fit with my schedule and all the things that my family was doing Then I get to the end for my demonstration teaching I get everything together turn it all in before it s even like it s all done Then I m told there s a 10-day waiting period Up until now I haven t had to wait for anything All of a sudden I have a 10-day waiting period It boggles my mind how I do not have to wait for anything up until this point I am somebody that is on top of things it gets everything together and turned in before it s even due Thinking I ll help move it along a little quicker you know couple days is not a big deal No They tell me I have to wait 10 days because that s their procedure Not once did I have to wait any longer than a day or two for anything and that s just how humans are takes a while to type an email get it sent out and this person needs it and that person reads it This tells me that it s about money they re getting another term of money out of me That s all I m hearing Be careful cuz they do not help you plan accordingly I have lost my job for this my family is losing things because of this we might have our car repoed because of it Cuz I plan for a semester not an entire year Then I get condescending attitudes this is our procedure

Only get your BSN here if you have no other option

I completed the pre-licensure BSN program at WGU in Utah I felt that the clinical experience I received was not up to par as 95 of my clinicals were during the night and most of them were psych clinicals meaning there was nothing to do once the patients went to bed for the night I felt that WGU does not care about their students and the quality of their education but they only care that their students get their hours in to make them look good Out of all the nursing programs in Utah WGU gets the worst clinical placements for their students which makes no sense since WGU has the means to get better placements if they cared enough Only a few of my course instructors were actually helpful throughout the program and my program mentor was hardly any help because she didn t know what she was doing so I basically had to figure everything out on my own

Mentors and Examity Proctors

Like I said every negative review is flooded with many fake ones Meanwhile the truth is hidden in the bad reviews on grad reports and on Reddit There are many complaints about bad mentors and bad proctoring by examity WGU had some major layoff recently and I m glad I left them for a new college I was treated very poorly by the mentors and by examity WGU will continue to tank until they wake up smell the coffee and realize they are doing things all wrong Stop wasting time writing fake reviews

WGU could support students better

I loved my mentor she was the BEST Rachel made everything worth it The classes were fine it s really the end that left me with a bitter taste for WGU I applied for a position with WGU that I was qualified for especially after just receiving my masters with WGU I would think that my school believes in their students and would offer us opportunities I was turned down and someone with no degree was hired It was a slap in the face and made me feel like WGU doesn t support their students especially after graduating It made me feel like my degree may not really mean that much because my own school doesn t play importance on it The person they hired was amazing I knew her Since I can t respond to the response a competitive market is not the issue I was denied an interview the first time saying other candidates were better qualified then under another email got the interview so basically their interviews were full and the system doesn t allow you to reapply under the same job even if they were just full the first time If I was a recruiter and I m interviewing someone who went the college I work for if you are applying below what you are qualified for I m going to tell you I genuinely would want to see you succeed and grow and have a positive impact in this world and school Again If you would like to go to this school do so but be cautious After you have paid your money that s where they stop caring I will give the career coach a chance but it s a little awkward seeing that I couldn t get hired at the school but ask for Rachel as your mentor You will do so well
