How RatingFacts Works

How reviews are collected, checked and turned into a rating

Who writes the reviews

Anyone with a RatingFacts account can review a company they have dealt with. We require a confirmed email address before an account can post, and each person can leave one review per company. Reviews are the opinions of the people who wrote them, not statements by RatingFacts.

How reviews are checked

New and edited reviews are not published instantly. They are screened for spam, abuse, personal data and off-topic content, and our team looks at flagged cases by hand. Reviews that break our review guidelines are rejected. Anyone can report a review from its page, and companies can dispute reviews they believe are fake or abusive.

How the rating is calculated

A company's star rating is the average of the star ratings (1 to 5) on its published reviews. Pending and rejected reviews are not counted. The number beside the rating is the number of published reviews it is based on. A rating built on only a few reviews can swing a lot, so read the reviews as well as the score. When we sort lists by rating, we favour companies with a meaningful number of reviews.

What the badges mean

  • Verified profile: our team has checked the company profile (name, website and category). It is not an endorsement and does not change the company's rating.
  • Claimed: a representative has proven control of the company's website domain and manages the profile. Claimed companies can reply publicly to reviews. Claiming a profile never removes or edits reviews.

AI summaries

Some company pages show an AI-generated summary of the published reviews. It is labelled as such, is based only on those reviews, and may contain mistakes. The reviews themselves are the source of truth.

Independence

Companies cannot pay to remove, hide or alter reviews, or to improve their rating. Advertising, where shown, is separate from reviews and ratings.
