A Memorable Experience with Room for Improvement
I recently completed an amazing hiking adventure booked through Bookatrekking, and I have to say, it was a fantastic experience overall. The convenience of having my refugios pre-booked made the entire trip so much easier. I didn’t have to worry about accommodation during my trek, which allowed me to focus on enjoying the journey. They also provided us with a detailed, individualized route through the Komoot app, which was incredibly helpful for navigating the trails. Bookatrekking was also very responsive to any questions we had leading up to our trip, offering clear communication both through email and even on Instagram.
That said, I do have a couple of suggestions for improvement. First, it would be great if there was more flexibility in the itinerary to add a day or two to the trek. The daily distances were pretty challenging, especially with the amount of climbing and descent involved. If there was more flexibility in adjusting the schedule, it could make the trek more enjoyable, particularly for those who want to reduce the daily intensity.
Another suggestion would be to customize the packing list based on the month of your trip. Since I went in mid to late July, the warm temperatures meant I could have packed lighter, and having a packing list tailored to the season would have helped reduce unnecessary weight.
I must mention, however, that while everything was generally well-organized, there were a few small hiccups. For instance, the Machame route’s GPX files on Komoot didn’t quite match our experience in terms of daily distances and time. Additionally, the app’s map could use some improvement—though the trails were fine, the height lines were inaccurate. That said, the physical map provided was very helpful.
Despite these small issues, the trip itself was wonderful. The route was beautiful, and the huts along the way were fantastic, providing a great sense of camaraderie with fellow hikers. The weather was perfect, and the views were breathtaking. Although I experienced some difficulty with sleep in the dorms (which is to be expected in such a rugged environment), it didn’t take away from the overall experience.
One thing to keep in mind, though, is that when booking through Bookatrekking, you may not be refunded if you can’t reach your booked refuge due to bad weather. This is important for those who prefer flexibility in their plans and want more control over their bookings. If you’re someone who enjoys making decisions as you go, you might want to consider booking things independently, though I do recognize that it can be tricky when booking late.
In the end, Bookatrekking did a great job with the logistics, and I would definitely use them again for future adventures. They’re perfect for anyone looking for a worry-free, pre-organized hiking trip, and I’ve already booked another trek with them. Based on my experience, I’d highly recommend Bookatrekking to anyone planning their next adventure.
Bookatrekking Reviews are generally positive, and after my experience, I can confidently say they deliver on their promises. I look forward to more hikes with them in the future. If you’re looking for a hassle-free adventure, bookatrekking.com reviews are a good place to start!
