Total Scam – Avoid Dealer Loyalty Protection at All Costs
I had Dealer Loyalty Protection when I refinanced my vehicle through Regional Acceptance, and it has been one of the worst decisions I've made financially. After my car was declared a total loss, I went through an unimaginable experience trying to get help. Dealer Loyalty Protection refused to even open the GAP claim until my insurance released their portion of the payment. Once I submitted all the requested documents, they just kept asking for more—classic runaround tactics.
It took months for them to review my claim, and in the end, they paid only $1,600 out of a $10,000 balance. They didn’t credit me for the 3 months I’d continued making payments after the accident, nor did they cover the $5,000 my insurance undervalued the car by—which is the whole point of GAP insurance in the first place! Total rip-off.
I even escalated the matter and spoke to what seemed like someone at the top, possibly the CEO. He was shockingly rude, dismissive, and even threatened legal action if I dared to post negative reviews online. Too bad for him—people need to know. I’ve also spoken to the dealership where I got the warranty, and even they were furious. Hopefully, more dealerships will wake up and stop doing business with this garbage company.
Their communication is abysmal—no return calls, vague emails, and constant delays. It took them 3–4 months to “process” my claim. I had to call every single day just to get basic updates. All they care about is avoiding payout. Even when given clear documentation, they made excuses, delayed decisions, and offered insulting settlement amounts.
To make it worse, I’ve heard from others who had to pay out-of-pocket for repairs, wait months for reimbursement (if they got it at all), and received low-ball offers with arbitrary deductions like "condition fees," "interest charges," or "late fees" that conveniently shrink your payout to almost nothing.
If you’re considering Dealer Loyalty Protection—don’t. Save yourself the stress, lies, and financial damage. I'm still paying on a totaled car because of their shady tactics. If I could give negative stars, I would.
