User Interface Works But Safety Issues Are Real
I used Skokka for about a month to browse local listings. Technically speaking, the platform works fine. The search filters are intuitive, the mobile app loads reasonably well, and browsing is straightforward. However, I quickly encountered significant safety concerns that made me uncomfortable continuing. The biggest issue is the lack of seller verification. I browsed dozens of listings and could tell many were either outdated or potentially fake—some had suspiciously professional photos that seemed stolen from Instagram. When I did try messaging a few contacts, responses were often vague or requests came for payment before any legitimate discussion. I've read plenty of horror stories online about people losing money to scams on this platform, and based on what I saw, I believe those warnings. The platform's customer support is essentially non-existent; my attempt to report a suspicious profile went completely ignored. There are no clear buyer protections, escrow services, or dispute resolution processes. The privacy settings are also inadequate. While I appreciate that the listings are free to browse, the lack of moderation attracts low-quality and potentially fraudulent advertisers. For anyone considering using Skokka, I'd recommend extreme caution. The technology works, but the safety infrastructure doesn't. I'd rather pay a bit more to use a platform with better verification and security measures.
