Cancelling a Subscription on Barclaycard
I don t have many issues with the Barclaycard it is fine for payments my only problem is about how they manage subscriptions I have one set up for the Telegraph online paper service Recently they increased the charge by over 4 and I decided I did not use it much now anyway and went to cancel On the Telegraph site they want you to phone a number to cancel and no way was I wasting time doing that so completed a online form telling them I was closing the subscription I got no response and so did it again still no response So I thought it would be easy to go online and cancel the subscription it was not there is no option to do so So I phoned up and get passed finally to the disputes team and after explaining I am not in dispute they finally say they have stopped the charge will see next month But why not let people do this on the website Like with direct debits on current accounts

I have been with Barclay Card for a
I have been with Barclay Card for a number of years and have there partnership card with Hilton also I have never had to call so cannot comment on the customer service side however for any online messages sent they have been prompt within a couple of hours which I have not seen any other provider do I like how you can buy and pay off the amount straight away which a lot of providers don t let you do from what I have experienced the balance is up to date at all times and have never experienced any inaccuracies Barclays have given me very generous limits on both cards and that I like The only negative I have to say is branch staff as they have no concern on customer retention and for which reason I closed my accounts a while back So far so good

If you like waiting in a phone queue
Updated June 2023 Since a dodgy start Barclaycard is at last becoming more responsive and seems to be easier to deal with There are still considerable issues with the website and with their communications but things are looking up I made a Section 75 claim recently and although they didn t get the funds back from the supplier in question they refunded me in full It took a month before they actually addressed my claim but once they did they moved reasonably quickly

Repayment breakdown is so confusing
In general I don t have a problem with Barclaycard only when I take a transfer to bank offer I always end up paying interest on my purchases even though I pay off the balance each month I find trying to work out what I am supposed to pay confusing so as to include the minimum payment for my transfer to bank balance I have now stopped using the card for retail transactions to avoid being charged interest This isn t good for Barclaycard as they make their money on retail transactions Perhaps it would be better for them if they stopped conning customers with confusing repayment methods

Reduction in credit limit
I too got the letter Mine down from 9 300 to 900 I rang up got through within three minutes and spoke to a very nice lady She assured me I had done nothing wrong and really its all down to Covid 19 Many people are still on furlough and many are losing their jobs and they don t want people to get into too much debt I was given the impression that once we start to get back to normal our credit limits will start to increase again Of course they dont want to lend people thousands of pounds just in case they don t get it back Its too risky Its a shock but I can see their point of view

I have had a Barclaycard credit card Frustrated
I have had a Barclaycard credit card for several years without problem Recently I have been unable to pay on line as the system requires the input of an issue number - only available from Maestro cards I have therefore had to pay by telephone call - cumbersome and time consuming I have frequently reported the problem back to them and have indeed had call backs from managers to discuss the situation Today I received a text stating that although I was successfully paying by telephone did I remember that I could pay online Aargh
