Use another alternative shipping is inflated

The best shipping methods were unavailable I compared to the offerings of Japan EMS and I ended paying 20 in shipping on an item that weighed under less than one ounce The freaking packing slips weighed more than the item itself No way I d be using this service again To clarify using Japan EMS there was an option to ship for 12 Overall after fees taxes and everything I paid 40 to receive a 4 item

seamail issues with Buyee

hello I have been a Buyee customer for almost a year during which time I have purchased various vintage camera accessories These were grouped together and consolidated without any problems from Buyee During the past two orders problems started to occur The one before last got packaged as normal only to be rejected at the last minute without any specific reason I thought maybe they do not have larger boxes so I removed four out of the 19 items and that got accepted to be sent via seamail It was not going to be cost effective to send the other four items on their own so I made a few other orders to round up the number for a second consolidation This grouped order 17 items in total was consolidated and they offered me to send it via airmail for the cost of an eye watering 50 890 yen This time they did not offer a seamail option so I emailed their customer services and I was told that they estimated the cost by seamail to be around 9200 yen The quoted sum is entirely fine but unless it is available from the selection screen I cannot choose it Please sort out the matter as soon as possible if you want to keep people like me using your services If something is fit to be sent via airmail it is also fit for seamail I must have emailed their support a gazillion times only to receive bot-like replies as their live customer operator option is always saying that they are too busy and nobody is available for a virtual chat The copy and paste automated excuses said that the contents are fragile so cannot be sent seamail therefore I opted to pay extra for protective packaging nevertheless they are still replying that the contents are not suitable for seamail and now the airmail quote has gone up as well What on earth if it was just a method to upsell this is not going to work out for you as it will be the last time you see me on your platform buying stuff I have already gone and created an account with Zenmarket If Buyee had a decent customer services division where issues are rectified by people who want to help and retain customers I would stay but are days full of hassle worth it I don t think so What they need is a ticketing number and that issues are resolved quickly and efficiently without delays at the expense of their customers not being asked time and time again for a screenshot of their own system It s already been four days and still not resolved the clock is ticking and I am sure that eventually they will also make sure that my 30 day free storage will be over and I will have to pay a daily punishment rate The most recent email from Buyee s customer services says we suggest this method of dispatch however they offer no choice and is therefore not a suggestion but one way their way They also mentioned that although I have added the protective packaging this is not enough as I had only chosen the standard option ie no additional upsells from them I told them that this was going to be the last time I use Buyee and that I have even discouraged members of my family from using them again Bye Buyee It s your loss not mine I have already spent hundreds of pounds and was expecting to spend more but your greedy inflexible ways are counterproductive

Make sure to take photos prior to opening

Honestly I didn t really have much of issue with them - having been a loyal customer I ve purchased with them for about 5-6 years now I would also recommend them to friends and family I should of known that there were a few red flags from the few times that I did have an issue but I never really raised my concerns as the items was always delivered safely anyways However when it comes down to taking responsibilities it is a different story which to my surprise is very opposite to the Japanese culture that we all know that they pride themselves to be - meticulous and have good work ethics Take the recent experience as an example I insured my items and that should cover full inspection and delivery It was not until my item arrived that I found out an item is missing from the parcel This is serious matter so I contacted the customer service about it They requested me for the photos prior to opening of the package and all of the contents with the extra packaging materials inorder to proceed with the case I was infuriated That means no investigation if I did completely disposed of everything I packed everything back to it s original state and took the photos They got back to me after a day and they never gave me an explanation as to what happened I feel that I at least deserve to know They would always brush me off and give an general response not answering my questions To further add they would indirectly put the blame on me for not asking about the item before the shipment - When it is their job to inform me I received another package today and I am disappointed The missing item that I specifically request for it to be included is not there I am clearly being treated like an idiot here

Won t be using this service ever again

Won t be using this service ever again That s for sure They charge an arm and a leg for so many costs and then they don t even order your item on time so when they finally get to the order it s already sold out Beware they take one whole business day to order your item so it ll already be too late because it s sold out Not to mention I wasn t refunded the money they took from me and if I did a PayPal claim I would be black listed Don t use this service Stick with Tenso Giving 2 stars because at least the items arrived on time The ones I was able to even get

BEWARE No buyer protection policy

I made a purchase on Yahoo Auction Japan through Buyee It was a scam where the winning price was low but the delivery fee was 5 times the item s market price This fee was hidden in a pop-up tab in the Japanese page and not reflected on Buyee s page The fees for bidding in an auction includes a Payment fee indicating that Buyee has to manually pay the seller But they did not suspect the absurd price and just go with it Of course in the end they forces all the blame on me and have me pay all the fees because I was stupid enough to not translate every single Japanese words on the original Yahoo page they put in in just a link They will only put hints and warnings to check the original page and push all their responsibility away A stable profit is Buyee s sole concern If you get scammed on the original seller webpage it s all on you Buyee will not protect it s foreign buyers So conclusion they are a legitimate service But if you don t speak Japanese or is just the careless type who will not check every single legal terms when shopping online STAY AWAY

Frequently Asked Questions

Buyee is a comprehensive proxy bidding and purchasing service that specializes in facilitating international access to Japanese online marketplaces. It acts as an intermediary for customers outside of Japan, allowing them to shop from popular Japanese e-commerce sites like Yahoo! Japan Auctions, Mercari, Rakuten, and Amazon.co.jp. Buyee handles the purchase, receives items at its Japanese warehouse, consolidates multiple packages, and manages international shipping and customs documentation, making Japanese goods accessible globally.

Buyee supports purchases from a wide range of major Japanese online marketplaces and stores. Key platforms include Yahoo! Japan Auctions for bidding on items, as well as fixed-price marketplaces such as Mercari, Rakuten, and Amazon.co.jp. Users can browse these sites directly or through Buyee's integrated search functionality to find desired products.

Buyee's package consolidation service allows you to combine multiple items purchased over time into a single international shipment. When you buy items, they are sent to Buyee's secure warehouse in Japan. You can store items there for up to 30 days at no charge. During this period, you can request consolidation, where Buyee repackages your eligible items together. This service is designed to reduce overall international shipping costs compared to sending each item separately.

The total cost when using Buyee typically includes several components: the price of the item itself, any domestic Japanese shipping fees charged by the seller, Buyee's service fee for the proxy purchase, a fee for package consolidation if used, and the international shipping cost to your country. Additionally, you are responsible for any customs duties or import taxes levied by your country upon arrival. Buyee provides a fee calculator and transparent breakdowns to help users estimate the total landed cost before finalizing a purchase.

Buyee offers secure warehousing for items at its Japanese facility for a period of up to 30 days free of charge. This storage period begins once an item arrives at the warehouse. This free window allows you time for other purchases to arrive so you can consolidate them into one shipment. After the 30-day period, extended storage fees may apply, so it is advisable to plan your shipments within this timeframe.

About Buyee

About Buyee

Buyee is a comprehensive proxy bidding and purchasing service that specializes in facilitating international access to Japanese online marketplaces. Primarily serving customers outside of Japan, Buyee acts as an intermediary, allowing users to shop from popular Japanese e-commerce sites that typically do not offer direct international shipping or may have language barriers. The service consolidates purchases, handles international shipping, and provides customer support in multiple languages, making Japanese goods more accessible to a global audience.

Core Services and Functionality

The platform's primary function is to provide users with a Japanese shipping address and a personal proxy shopper. Users can browse supported Japanese websites directly or through Buyee's integrated search. Once a desired item is found, Buyee purchases it on the user's behalf. The service then receives the item at its Japanese warehouse, where it can be held for consolidation with other purchases. Key services include:

  • Proxy Bidding and Buying:Buyee places bids on auctions (notably on Yahoo! Japan Auctions) and makes purchases from fixed-price stores like Mercari, Rakuten, and Amazon.co.jp.
  • Package Consolidation:Multiple items purchased over a period can be combined into a single international shipment to reduce overall shipping costs.
  • Secure Warehousing:Items are stored securely for up to 30 days at no charge, allowing time for additional purchases to arrive.
  • International Shipping:Buyee manages all customs documentation and ships worldwide via various carriers, including EMS, DHL, and FedEx.
  • Additional Protective Services:Users can opt for services like package inspection, photo confirmation, and protective packaging for fragile items.

Target Audience and Key Benefits

Buyee caters to international collectors, enthusiasts, and general shoppers seeking authentic Japanese products. This includes fans of anime and manga merchandise (figures, goods), vintage clothing, rare collectibles, traditional crafts, electronics, and pop culture items. The main benefits for users are:

  • Access to Exclusive Markets:Unlocks a vast inventory of goods unavailable on global platforms or from sellers who only ship domestically.
  • Language and Payment Support:The website and customer service are available in English and other languages, and international payment methods are accepted.
  • Cost Transparency:The fee structure is outlined upfront, including service fees, domestic Japanese shipping, consolidation fees, and international shipping costs.
  • Streamlined Process:The platform provides a centralized dashboard to track orders, warehouse inventory, and shipment status.

User Experience and Considerations

The Buyee website is designed to guide international users through the multi-step process. It features tutorials, a fee calculator, and detailed help pages. Potential users should carefully review all associated costs, including service fees and the specific prohibited items list for international shipping. Understanding the total landed cost (item price + domestic shipping + service fee + international shipping + potential customs duties) is crucial before making a purchase.

Conclusion

In essence, Buyee serves as a vital bridge connecting global consumers with the unique and diverse offerings of Japanese e-commerce. By handling the complexities of logistics, language, and payment, it empowers users worldwide to reliably and securely purchase items from Japan, fostering a greater exchange of goods and culture in the global marketplace.
