I am not surprised this company treats their employees poorly given my recent experience with online orders I was prepared to wait two weeks for an order to ship until I realized I had a store less than an hour away I emailed customer service asking for a modification or cancellation two days after I placed my order no response or even acknowledgment of my message The next day I did a chat asking for a cancellation and I received the generic copied response covid delays order is processing cannot be cancelled Let s not forget this company only charges you when the order ships so my money was being held in limbo based on when they ship each item I called the phone number waited on hold for 22 minutes then finally caved and left my number for a call-back After closing time I got a call from a nice gentleman to tell me that someone would contact me in the morning I was never contacted I emailed customer service again asking for an explanation of their order is processing system and why I have orders processing for three weeks with one item delivered and no further communication I did get a response stating orders are picked by machine and they can only be cancelled once my item is shipping out a very small window considering the shipment email is sent a day after my Fedex App alerted me of the incoming packages Basically it is impossible to cancel an order with this place I assume it is poor leadership and the employees are left to deal with discouraged customers and no real solutions This company is a disappointment and I believe they took advantage of the pandemic to have an excuse for their poorly executed ordering system I eventually received both of my orders a month after ordering This company will never survive if they continue to operate like this Knowing how they treat their employees is just another reason for me to buy discounted gift cards to use in the physical store I refuse to give them any new money but I m obsessed with the elfa door systems

Nightmare buying custom closets
I ve had a very poor experience trying to buy custom closest from The Container Store and would strongly recommend that people explore other options Experience has been filled with poor communication limited responsiveness poor quality on install and TCS not doing what they said they would do - My journey started with an in-person design session in the store on May 20th I was ordering 7 closets from a combination of Elfa Avera and Preston- I received early Avera and Elfa drawings on May 23- I called the store 6 times before someone got back to me to revise the drawings and complete a purchase June 19th 4 weeks later - I didn t receive drawings for the Preston closet until June 19th and it took until July 1st to get those completed such that I could buy the closet- My two Elfa closets were installed on June 22nd Several of the pieces did not fit and pieces were missing from the order The installer left 4 big drawers that I had to take back to the store if I wanted a refund- My two Avera closets were installed on June 30th The installers used tape that was not safe for the walls and damaged my ceiling- My Preston closets were supposed to be installed on August 22nd and 23rd more than 3 months after first purchase attempt and there were significant parts missing The installers left my home with 10 of the closet installed and pieces all over the closets- That evening I tested to make sure that everything was properly secured and two large 2 x 4 feet pieces came crashing to the floor These pieces were unsecured in a home with a 12 month old baby and presented a significant safety hazard- I called the customer service and manager of the store They promised they would investigate options and return my phone call They have not and did not do what they said they would- I still do not know when the parts for Preston will be available and when my installation will be complete I have already paid for these 3 closetsSave yourself the trouble and buy someplace else

Greedy Inflexible Behavior
I am absolutely furious with the Container Store I placed an online order on 2 21 21 and another one on 2 13 21 The 2 13 order was supposed to ship in 10 days On 2 25 I received an email informing me processing on the first order could take 2-4 weeks because of the recent Texas weather disaster I live in another state where natural disasters occur with regularity so I am not ignorant of such disruptions I asked if I could cancel the order and would instead pick up the items at my nearest store 2 hours away because I could not wait 4 weeks to receive the order The clerk said the order was in process and could not be cancelled The options he offered Receive the items and then either return them at MY expense or take them to my nearest store in my case a 2 hour drive I am elderly the items ordered are heavy I cannot place them inside my car myself nor am I willing to drive 2 hours to return them Neither option is acceptable and this unconscionable and greedy behavior on the part of The Container Store is totally unacceptable I ve spent thousands of dollars thru the years on their merchandise but due to this inflexible stance I ll have to reconsider where to spend my money in the future Buyers beware this is a company that leaves customers holding the bag when the company is inconvenienced by unplanned eventualities Shame on you Container Store

I have had such a terrible experience
I have had such a terrible experience at the Century City store and the El Segundo store On the website the El Segundo store was marked as open It had some items I could not get by my store and I drove over an hour to pick up some items The manager greeted me with so much hostility I just asked for a cart in the parking lot and she was yelling at me that they were not open I was like I didn t know it said on the website a couple hours ago you were She was so hostile continued to be nasty I actually took some of my items back to another open store This all could have been avoided if the website was updated This was a weekend and I was definitely not the only person at the door expecting an open store As for Century City they have some of the rudest cashiers I have ever seen This is a challenging time I am not sure if they are being mis managed and that is why these employees at two stores are so hostile but its really unnecessary

They Cancel Negative Product reviews
Purchased an order online and after waiting WEEKS I finally received it I wrote what I felt was a fair and honest review of the item nothing inappropriate but the kind of information I would have appreciated when I was deciding to purchase this item which had glowing reviews My review was not accepted for not meeting their guidelines without stating what particular guideline I didn t meet The review was fact based on WHY it didn t meet my needs to hopefully help someone else make an informed decision If TCS Cancels negative reviews then they cannot be trusted and I will no longer do business with them

Too bad their customer service is horrid
I ordered 198 worth of kitchen plastic containers Way more expensive than anyone else s but theirs are the best I typed in my current shipping address and billing info and hit complete purchase After a while when my stuff didn t arrive I checked the tracking info and they had shipped to my old address I went on customer service and was put on hold forever and finally hung up on So I tried the online chat That person Natalie immediately said it was my fault not their problem before I even explained all the details Once I told her that I definitely entered my correct address and it was their error she said it was too late to fix since it was already delivered and I should try finding the people it was shipped to in NJ--I m in SC and asking them for the merchandise This is why I wont be shopping with them ever again and this is also why Amazon is so huge Amazon would send me new stuff in the interest of retaining me as a loyal customer so would Walmart Container Store could care less

Container Store Nightmare
I tried to buy 4000 worth of Elfa closet stuff from the Container Store on May 29 The website said it would arrive by June 2 Perfect Renters are moving into the house on June 15 This gives me time to hang the new closet hardware June 1 it hasn t even shipped and I I never got an email order confirmation So I tried to cancel the order No dice I ordered everything from California Closets on June 2 It arrived 6 5 Still no order confirmation and no shipment from Container Store And they still won t cancel the order UPDATE 6 10 I ordered BEAUTIFUL California Closets Everyday units on 6 2 California Closets sent an order confirmation via email within an HOUR 3 days later I had an entire closetful of gorgeousness for less than 5 more than the Container Store stuff The Container Store customer service reps said the order could be rerouted back to the warehouse once I got tracking numbers So the same day I received the tracking numbers I asked for the stuff to be rerouted All of the tracking numbers were updated with the Container Store s delivery address Days later I started getting delivery attempt notices YESTERDAY they charged my card and they re trying to deliver the closet again I m never doing business with Container Store again TL DR Live up to your commitments to your customer or allow order cancelations If you do neither expect bad reviews When you say you re accepting a return don t turn around and send it right back to the customer

Absolute JOKE
Absolute JOKE 2 days after my order was placed someone scanned a barcode on the box in a warehouse in Texas It sat there for another 8 days I have been bombarded with spam from the container store several times a day since my order but not one single shipping update order number or tracking number On day 10 I called Customer Service where a very rude lady insisted that it had left the Texas warehouse on its way to California I am in-between both locations Finally since she could not or would not answer the simplest questions she abruptly said it will be delivered on the 23rd and hung up Moments later I received an email with tracking links that both said Check Back Soon Now it is the 23rd and one of the links states they missed the pickup time and it will be delivered tomorrow THEY CHARGE YOU FOR SHIPPING How are they in business with the worlds slowest shipping
