Decline in Quality Despite a Price Hike
This review is split in two ways one from a buyer s point of view and one from a seller s point of view As a buyer the site gives a wide range of products that used to be the go-to place for quality and good value Over the last 18 months or so that seems to have changed drastically Price-wise it s all gone up in cost which I will explain why further down Unfortunately the quality of the products especially if you are a member of the Plus products has gone down If you work with SVGs be prepared to do a lot of cleanup work with the plus products so they re actually usable Also be prepared to download items individually from the same bundle as they are not all zipped together especially font bundles This isn t good if you re buying a bundle with 50 fonts Also be aware that if you cancel your Plus membership you will lose all of your credits so use them up first The Dollar Deal events are good but be prepared to see the same old stuff as they tend to promote the same sellers over and over again From a Seller s point of view well I am no longer a seller on the site as I closed my store my choice First of all the minimum price we could set for our designs was set at 5 oo That didn t matter if it was a single design or a bundle No one would be prepared to spend that amount of money on a single design when you could buy them for 1 on sites such as Etsy or even 0 75 on Silhouette s Design Store You also have the option of buying a subscription to Creative Fabrica and downloading unlimited designs and fonts or the kicker here a subscription to Crafty net which is actually owned by the same person as Design Bundles Second as sellers have no way whatsoever of protecting our designs on the site We are not allowed to add a copyright to our listing in any way This is a total cop-out for many reasons The biggest reason is that because we have to set the price so high and have no copyright in our listing people come along split our designs up and re-sell OUR products or even give them away in groups etc We end up spending so much time chasing down these illegal actions that we don t have time to design Legally we should have the right to protect our own creations I am now selling exclusively on Etsy and making SIX times the amount I was making on Design Bundle and I have protected my own work resulting in me issuing one take-down notice instead of several when I was with Design Bundles As I said above this used to be a good site for quality designs at great prices but sadly that s now changed I understand that times change and businesses have to adapt to those changes but it seems that Design Bundles is going backward or at least in a different direction which is not good for buyers or sellers
