Alas all too common

while the service was really useful but we were also aware of the potential malice it simultaneously allowed So we spent a long time preparing the server for all kinds of eventual scenarios an attacker would do on our server Our server has been using Disboard for 2 years now still in good standing for now Even after a successful nuke from a malicious actor from DSC advertising bot we still got back on our feet and even now I was thinking of setting Disboard back up but as I read the reviews here particularly the 1-2 stars there does indeed seems to be some common themes issues with the way the review system is set up 1 Reviews cannot be given immediately after leaving a server While understandably to protect the interests of the existing legitimate servers by not allowing bad actors review bomb a server to hell but servers that are indeed bad actors themselves might because of this delayed review submission process move on to survive which brings this to 2 Malicious actors can review bomb legit servers in an effort to bring down legit servers further promoting malicious servers Malicious actors have more incentive to post reviews and more of them than legit users with legit concerns especially when they cannot even post them on immediately leaving a server In most cases legit users will have want nothing to do with a bad server within the first day of leaving to ever return to it again And don t even talk about positive reviews reviews like those come once in a blue moon unless you have some means to post positive reviews from within the discord bot itself maybe use zapier Alternative proposal Instead of a delayed review submission I strongly recommend you to implement a user reputation system as such as many other big corporations are doing so already such as Amazon Quora Reddit etc Reputation separates the fraud accounts from the legit accounts and their words and hence reviews hold much more weight than newer accounts which are often used by bad actors to escape punishment Whether a server is deemed good or bad should not be based on a single review and in fact should be based on a collective weight of reputation With again high reputation users carrying more weight Upon breaching a specified weight threshold you can then consider said server as bad Hope this helps your site We really wish Disboard can overcome these challenges especially in the AI era Maybe use AI to help you filter out these sites so that you won t have to be bogged down so much

No longer good

I used to like disboard until it was used to actually attack my servers by people who disliked the Furry community LGBTQ This was all because I mentioned in one rule that everyone of every kind was welcome Disboard is used for scammers and hundreds of porn bots to join and spam your server with their porn I have underage people on ALL of my servers and this is absolutely disgusting Disboard has ZERO protection against bots and due to many other reviews it is evident that bots provided by them have actually been removed I ve never joined the discord server myself but reading the recent reviews I don t want to If people are harassed for how they run a server or even SPIED on and for NO reason at all their servers are given horrible unnecessary reviews especially by the STAFF then this isn t a good bot to use Disboard 100 used to be a very good thing I would use for hundreds of servers I used to own but they ve updated it a lot and it s become a bit complicated last time I checked 2 months ago I d suggest sorting out your staff team before anything else and actually listen to your reviews

Illogical Review Process

It doesn t make sense how you can t leave a review after you left server Defeats the whole purpose of reviews

Good with a major flaw

I very much enjoy the site for searching for servers The tagging descriptions search functions and reviews are helpful The UI is very comfortable and works well My greatest concern is that you cannot post a review for a server you are not currently a member of This means if you leave a server you cannot post a review about your experience in particular to warn others It also means if you were removed from a server due to bad faith actions of the administration you cannot post a review of that experience If find this to be VERY problematic and can no longer trust the star ratings Lastly a more minor desire I wish I could exclude certain phrases when I search This would allow me to search for servers that are in the realm of what I m looking for while also omitting those that are not what I m looking for

They are unfortunately not able to

They are unfortunately not able to remove fake reviews from fake bots But on the other side a very good service where we can find lots of good servers But please fix this issue with fake reviews otherwise it s a good service

Pros

Pros - Bump your servers- Look badass having your server on a site- find other servers- review other serversNegatives - People bot reviews can fake reviews all day long- Can only have 5 tags- Can t link any social links for your community- People can just spam review your server with bad reviews and you can t do anything to stop it

After more than 1 year of using their service they banned me without reason

I ve been using Disboard for about a year now although it wasn t giving me the amount of members I wanted on my server it was giving me quite a lot in terms of people who come from advertising As of last month Disboard decided to ban me from their service for no reason that they can come up with I wrote a reddit post saying exactly what this review is saying right now but the support said that they have no idea why I am banned nor can they actually appeal the ban because the support server has been gone for quite some time This is quite outrageous to say the least and I would very like to speak to someone from Disboard that could get my account unbanned

About Disboard

Disboard: A Comprehensive Public Discord Server Directory

Disboard.org serves as a prominent and widely-used public directory for Discord servers, functioning as a bridge between community seekers and server owners. Its primary mission is to facilitate the discovery of new online communities across a vast array of interests, from gaming and technology to art, music, education, and social hangouts. The platform provides a structured, searchable database where anyone can explore, join, and interact with thousands of Discord servers from around the world.

Core Functionality and Features

At its heart, Disboard operates on a simple yet effective model. Server administrators can list their communities on the site by utilizing Disboard's companion bot. This integration is key to the platform's ecosystem. Once added to a Discord server, the Disboard bot enables owners to publish their server's listing, complete with a description, tags, member count, and language. The site itself offers robust search and filtering tools, allowing users to:

  • Browse servers by categories (e.g., Gaming, Entertainment, Science, Education).
  • Filter searches by specific tags to find niche communities.
  • Sort listings by member count, bump activity, or creation date.
  • View key server details before joining, including rules and a preview of the community vibe.

A distinctive feature of Disboard is the "bump" system. To maintain visibility and activity on the front page listings, server owners must regularly "bump" their server using a bot command. This mechanism encourages active community management and ensures that the directory's most prominent listings are current and engaged, providing fresh opportunities for discovery.

Value for Users and Server Owners

For users seeking new online spaces, Disboard offers a centralized, user-friendly portal. It eliminates the need to scour social media or rely on personal referrals to find active Discord communities. The tagging and categorization system makes it efficient to locate servers that match very specific hobbies or topics.

For server owners and moderators, Disboard is a powerful growth and outreach tool. Listing a server provides significant exposure to a large audience actively looking to join new communities. This can be invaluable for new servers trying to establish a member base or for established communities aiming to reach a broader, like-minded audience. The platform's structure inherently rewards servers that are well-maintained and actively promoted by their administrators.

Community Guidelines and Safety

Disboard maintains guidelines to promote a safe and respectful environment. It prohibits the listing of servers that engage in illegal activities, harassment, hate speech, or other forms of harmful conduct. Users can report servers that violate these terms, and the Disboard team reviews listings to uphold these standards. This governance helps maintain the directory's integrity and trustworthiness for all users.

Disboard.org has established itself as an essential hub within the Discord ecosystem. By effectively connecting community creators with potential members, it fosters the growth of diverse online groups. Its straightforward listing process, combined with powerful discovery tools and a self-regulating bump system, creates a dynamic marketplace for Discord communities.
