If I could give this site 0 stars I would I have been a member of Fanfiction net since 2002 Over that period I have had a few issues here and there with them but nothing too terrible However several years back they decided that writers no longer deserved the option of allowing guest reviews or not I understand not everyone has an account at this site but wants to review anyway I also understand that sometimes people can t or don t want to log in and will leave an anonymous review But it s also true that spiteful trolls will hide behind the guest cloak to flame or spam writers and there s nothing they can do about it Fanfiction net used to give you the option to disallow guest reviews but for some reason they took this away I ve been flamed recently by guest reviewers and am really frustrated that there s nothing I can do but delete the flames and get this you ve only got 36 hours to do this after which time it s moved out of the moderation queue and is published This site has gone downhill so badly recently I m extremely disgusted with it Archive of Our Own is so much better

Ads are Hell

It is headache inducing and impossible to read the the fanfiction with 50 ads in it an every half scroll down between them I have to read on DuckDuckGo to get uninterrupted enjoyment and reading done

You have a Predator who writes stories but he also stalks his victims My wife also writes stories he started reviewing hers and sending her compliments to entice her and it worked He soon had her email and sent thousands of inappropriate messages thousands of words long pretending to be a Christian So called Prayers every morning they talked 10-12 hours a day for 3 months He broke up our Marriage he s EVIL I have some of his evil emails saved if needed He goes by DanimalBr and TropicalStormFl The picture is of him This is the start of one out of thousands Father please forgive us for every time and everywhere that we have allowed our lust and desire for physical intimacy to take over and control us and we allowed sex to become an idol in our lives Lord both Heather and myself acknowledge that we are weak and we are incapable of being totally obedient to you on our own Father our spirits are willing but our flesh is weak Heather and I both have the desire to want to follow you and be obedient to your word and to serve you and live for your glory and not our own However we are weak in our flesh

Yeah I typed that that way in case this website profanity filter actually works This dumb website has a few features with Anonymous reviews in the settings like Moderate Guest Reviews and Filter Profanity in the reviews section of their account settings Both of which are on and both of which are useless This one guy with a name I won t repeat is ruining this website because of it The name is close to not222thename9999 This guy is constantly on here putting up Anonymous reviews with advertisements for lewd content Since the website is going through failures this guy got brazen enough to straight post child pron advertisements in all bold No way to report or filter it The entire feature should be removed until you have the filter content issues corrected or at least make us moderate every comment on our content no matter the content It looks bad on the writer to have comments like this pop up on their works It s embarrassing and disgusting This is one of the oldest running fanfiction websites It should be run better than this The status portion of the site has been down for months sometimes we don t get any notifications of any comment or anything It s very disappointing that this site is run so poorly and yet has been around for so long Do better

Serious decline

I ve been with fanfiction net since the beginning and I ve unfortunately had to leave The ADs are a nightmare Every chapter has multiple ads and an ad between chapters and pop ups galore It s sad to see such a good site decline to such a sad point I wouldn t recommend this for kids and teens as I have gotten inappropriate ads and scam pop ups

I ve been a member of this website for years and have written over 80 stories Over the past 12 months my most predominant fandom has been overtaken by trolls who have left multiple harassing spammish insulting reviews and private messages for me I ve reported and blocked any accounts but nothing has been done I know from reading others responses to them that I m not the only one reporting either which means that there is no master level moderation going on Due to the prolonged abuse I am now removing my fics and deleting my account as a whole because apparently that s the only way to keep these trolls from attacking me since staff doesn t want to do their job

Poor Moderation

Great place for people to publish fan-fiction but it s run by poor management There are constantly bots spamming erotic advertisements and they don t even have a report function only having a support email Looking at the history of their actions I doubt I could trust them
