Auto renewal of a fixed term contract is illegal

I contracted the services of gostudent for my 9th grader The 3 stars I am giving is for the kind and vested tutor Alisa taking my son German language I signed a 6 months contract with document clearly stating that the last deduction on my account will be for Aug 2022 Alas my account was debited in September I reached out amd was shockingly informed that the policy stipulates that I give 7 days notice to cancel the contract otherwise it auto renews for another 6 months I couldn t believe it This was never mentioned by the employees who sales pitched me Unfortunately the contract was in German language which I cannot read No prior notice was given as a reminder before the end of the contract giving the indication this was a deliberate move to fleece unsuspecting customers It is very sad to operate this way for a service that should otherwise be getting great reviews and referrals I am shocked to be told a fixed term contract still requires notice to cancel I have thereafter filled and sent the form for cancellation and no formal response yet And the employee tells me there is nothing that can be done other than to pay up A debit will be made on my account monthly for the next 6 months for a service I no longer require Who does that

Consistency of Tutors

We have had 5 French tutors in 12 months the constant change is unsettling for my daughter

Hello Using Gostudent for 12yo kid sinc first lockdown time still trying to find correct balance not that easy to find good teacher as most teachers on my opinion take this job as temporary mini jobs without putting almost any affords to achieve results Also nonunderstandable canceling of subscription process I ve been told that I can not stop my membership for year feels like T-Mobile Overall - Company using zoom - which is ok so far ad overall idea is brilliant but lack of transparency here Cheers

Ok but the commitment is not nice

I really like and love the teacher that my daughter got at go student He does an amazing job but I m not happy with the commitment of a whole year contract It would be nicer if it would be just 6 month or that you can get out of the contract with a 3 month cancellation

attention to the registration regarding the charges

Everything was good according to the lessons with the teacher My only problem is the unsincerity by the organiser I had clarify that I could stop the lessons and I do not want to charge my card automaticaly The organiser ensured me that no charge will be effect without my approval Unfortunately my credit card is charged automaticaly without having started lessons

Can be better

Overall good but few areas to improve Using whatsapp and sharing mobile number for data privacy not fond of sharing and extensiveley relying on whatsapp Better to run the commucation on gostudent platform I guess it is going this direction Selection of teachers a better selection can be applied to ensure quality consistency Also to give more empowerment to the students to select the most suitable teacher At the end booking com doesn t assign a hotel to us but facililate with hotel info and ratings And or add value in matching with style personality traits and bring available teachers to the student allow to select

Good Tutoring Service

This is my updated review Their tutors are very good I was satisfied with the tutoring service that I got from them However I had some issue with their customer service because they were not very clear about the Package Subscription terms while I was enrolling into the program I got frustrated about this when I came to know However they understood my situation and resolved my issues Hence I am now happy about their customer service too

Terrible customer service- buyer beware

As others have found Very hard to cancel Buyer beware Their customer service is appalling You are advised to speak with a customer service person via WhatsApp I did this and it took an hour to get a non-outcome Your membership needs to be further checked and you will receive an email with the outcome of it Eventually you might receive an email from them that also tells you nothing and is equally useless The email read I can see that your cancellation request is still open Our satisfaction team have been informed about your accont and will be in contact with you soon This company have now taken payment from my bank account for 8 tutor sessions which I have either cancelled or not received The two tutors Go student offered were not qualifed in the boards being studied despite this being made clear when I signed up During my hour long WhatsApp I was offered credits but how is it a credit to give you something you have paid for which they have not provided Still waiting for my refund and confirmation of cancelled membership RECENT UPDATEOkay so GoStudent called me yesterday in response to my complaint and trustpilot review they have agreed to a full refund for all unused tutor sessions and cancelled my subscription It was a painful process but they have now done the right thing I even got to speak with a real human who was apologetic about our poor experience so in the end all is good I have adjusted my scoring to reflect this Companies will get things wrong how they deal with it is the real test

Issues now resolved

We experienced considerable difficulty over the summer when our tutor left and we paused the account but could not restart but these issues have now been resolved
