Not Impressed at All - Not a smooth ride

I had previously written a very nice review about InterServer which I later on decided to delete because I could not in clear conscience let others read what no longer represented my real views about InterServer My first bad experience with them was when I attempted to migrate my sites over from my old dedicated cPanel server to a dedicated machine with them running on a DirectAdmin installation The migration was a total disaster and nothing worked All sites were broken When I complained the answer I received was The site is loading or something around those lines Yeah the front page was loading but then nothing else worked Also it was not only one site there were like 15 sites hosted on that server I then decided to just re-install the server and do the migration myself this time with cPanel instead of DirectAdmin and things went smooth I had to do it myself though and I could no longer trust migrations done by the InterServer team After that web hosting with them was not bad on that particular dedicated server It was an ok experience I would say reason why I had written a good review to be appreciative of their service and I decided to forget the initial bad experience As time went by I asked if it was possible to reduce my cPanel license fees somehow They then advised me to decrease the number of accounts I had in cPanel so my price could go lower but of course their advice was wrong as cPanel licenses on metal are always above 40 minimum So I did all the hard work of downsizing my cPanel number of accounts for nothing at all My faith in them was still not totally lost so besides that server I purchased yet another dedicated server with them to run a Pavlov VR Gaming server Oh boy was that a rough ride Every once in a while their network would reset and my gaming server would disappear from the Pavlov VR Game Server browser Meaning gamers could no longer join it and it would basically die out until I rebooted the machine and it would again appear on the game server browser These network resets would happen at random times and sometimes very often effectively killing my player count and player dissatisfaction with my server Their help in those regards was absolutely useless and they could never figure out what was happening with my gaming server s network issues In conclusion If you want to run a cheap web hosting dedicated server go for it Most likely it will be fine for you If you want to run dedicated gaming servers or anything which requires rock solid stable network connectivity STAY THE HECK AWAY FROM THEM They don t seem to care much about fixing issues and when you cancel they do it RIGHT AWAY even though you paid for a full month of service Is this even legal So ENSURE you have full backups of everything before you ask them to cancel your services They also don t even ask you why you are cancelling like they really can t care less if you leave or stay I wonder how companies stay in business with that level of little care for their customers

Outcome good Experience not so great

I was pleased with the final resolution the tier two support team provided within 24 hours They had a 100 fix installed within 22 hours I would have appreciated assistance or clearer instructions for implementing the work-around that was provided within the promised 1-3 hour support window so that I didn t have 22 hours of potential lost email revenue but I was happy to receive a work-around within the promised time I wish tier one would have been less of an obstacle and more helpful in quickly identifying and escalating or at least better understanding the issue Instead I was presented with basic and unrelated troubleshooting approaches and given suggestions as to the nature of the issue that a better understanding of my initial report would have avoided As a professional with 25 years experience in IT customer service and communications I was disappointed that communication was lacking except with the tier two tech As a customer who hosts close to 100 domains on the service and just finished a 3-year term and renewed for another I hope they are able to provide better communication overall and tier-one service specifically in the future

Kind of disappointed

I used to love Interserver They always responded quickly and tried to solve any issues with their service Recently I created a personal account and have encountered some problems that even led me to cancel services Now I have a Quick Deploy Server that works quite well but two days ago I paid 144 for a dedicated server They still haven t completed the order In the ticket created when you pay for a dedicated server they now send you a link to see the approximate provisioning time which they share AFTER you pay not before interserver tips kb dedicated-server-provisioning-times I understand that there can be inconveniences and server setup may take time but I sent an ticket about the processing time and haven t yet received a response even though their main site says 24 7 expert support In summary I paid for a service I haven t been able to use yet there s no estimate on when it will be ready and they haven t responded to the ticket If you re considering hiring a server with Interserver my advice is to go with a Quick Deploy Server They work quite well and you don t depend on ONE person to set up your server My recommendation to Interserver is that if you know there will be delays in provisioning new servers you should display an alert on the checkout page or on your home page This way you can be more transparent with your clients or potential clients and we know what to expect BEFORE paying for a service that we won t be able to use for several days ----Edits it s november 13 and I don t have server ready yet And still no response to my ticket

Good price for good performance but

Good price for good performance but support is terrible Sometimes they take 3 or 4 hours other times 8 or 10 When they do respond they ask questions you answer them then they still do their own thing Something like changing a root password because for whatever reason I was not able after they reinstalled and used the wrong password took almost 48 hours until I gave up Their only solution was for me to pay 35 for them to re-re install windows again because its only free the first time Cancelling my server only took an hour though they do seem to respond to that quickly Way too much downtime for the application I use Too bad though there was potential

Support is not what I m used to

Support is not what I m used to that is a kind helpful and appreciative support person This particular support person was not up to the task when I was having difficulty with billing He neither apologized nor offered to find a solution to my billing issue I also mentioned that the PDF invoice sent to my email account would not open via Adobe Reader Adobe Reader Adobe Acrobat Reader Firefox or my email s preview feature support did not offer a solution nor comment on the above Finally the support platform is primitive in that it offers no survey of support people after a ticket has been closed I gave this host three stars because support was quick to respond I otherwise would have given it one or two stars
