I recently completed two courses with Jolly Parrot Sailing and the experience was fantastic overall The Day Skipper Theory course taught by Josh was informative and comfortable in a clean classroom Josh s expertise and teaching style were excellent I highly recommend this course in a classroom setting rather than online for a richer learning experience The Day Skipper Practical course led by Jason was equally impressive Jason was a friendly and skilled instructor who went the extra mile by cooking an amazing breakfast for us on the boat as we watched the sunrise His sailing skills were top-notch and I think everyone on the boat learnt a lot from him He also demonstrated his seamanship by successfully rescuing a boat entangled on a mooring buoy This hands-on experience we all gained provided valuable learning opportunities and even some good-natured laughter at the expense of the other boat - also a training boat Thanks Jason for the wonderful course Both Josh and Jason were professional and approachable throughout the courses The only minor downside was that the boat used for the practical course was a little tired but to stress seaworthy Some minor improvements in this area would enhance the overall experience But as a counter it also added a little charm to the experience The shore based team were also awesome I was a returning customer after completing my competent crew with them in 2019 Would suggest doing the zero to day skipper route however

After a less than ideal competent crew course in 2022 with a UK sailing school I was looking for a school that I could continue my sailing adventure and remain with through to as far as I can take it I found this with Jolly Parrot I was able to complete both my Shorebased Day Skipper and my Practical Day Skipper back-to-back over a nine day period with my partner joining for the practical to complete her Competent Crew The booking and joining instructions were comprehensive and detailed and Rachel and Clive were always available to answer any questions For the shorebased course we were instructed by Alex who was able to take us through the syllabus at a pace that we could all comfortably work to Alex s knowledge was both technical and practical injecting real world examples to give us an enhanced view of the subject he made it clear and understandable which will be invaluable as I do this hopefully on my own boat The five day practical sailing was instructed by Greg whose zest and enthusiasm is second to none Greg is a natural teacher with serious detailed knowledge and examples interjected with humour and fun The nights on shore and the days on Naughty Parrot were always a great place to be and some long lasting education friendships and memories were made over a short period We will both definitely be back for more to rekindle friendships consolidate learning and enhance our knowledge Gibraltar is an excellent place to learn to sail it has everything you need from beginner to yachtmaster whilst enjoying the sun

Had a great time on the Gib - Africa weekend with skipper Greg Boat is well maintained skipper willing to give opportunities to practice and blow off some of my sailing cobwebs Ceuta is a terrific destination

Beautiful week s sailing with the instructor Liam jotted up the spanish coast and over to Morocco with dolphins all the way Learned a tonne had fun as well

Just completed my Day Skipper ticket with Jolly Parrot and a big recommend from me The area is a superb place to learn with lots of shipping weather variants and Marinas in which to focus on skill development Ian took us through the theory and practical and is very knowledgable experienced ever patient and delivers with a good dose of humour and personal anecdotes I felt that the course and teaching were well standardised differentiated and paced with regular review points and target setting to support the progression of all crew members with a huge focus on safe practice Thank you Jolly Parrot I will be back

Had a wonderful week sailing in Gibraltar with Alistair our instructor for the week Really knowledgeable and created a great atmosphere onboard for the week The perfect place to do my Day Skipper

Had a great time on the water doing the Novice to Day Skipper course Definitely worth heading to Gibraltar during the winter months to get this completed Shout out to Ian Haley and Greg for their help

Had an amazing competent crew course with Ian Goodwin at Jolly Parrot sailing in Gibraltar Great company and Ian looked after us and was so helpful Great start to sailing and I really hope I can continue my training with Ian and the team Thanks for this great week
