Data can be inaccurate

The data from a perplexity search can be inaccurate There is no ai business model here until this is fixed How many years will this take

Honestly

Honestly it s an average solution If you keep asking mediocre questions it can still give you answers But if you push it to do more it breaks and it breaks bad I isn t worth getting their premium it is even bad even if they re free

Rushed where is the love

For what this is it s a kinda cool service that is useful in niche scenarios The thing is that the whole thing feels rushed and exists for marketers For example there is a news feed However despite this product being marketed towards curious people almost all of the news in the feed is related to technology Another thing is that the product just really isn t made well For example both this and ChatGPT have a feature where you can tell the AI information about yourself for better answers On ChatGPT this works really well However Perplexity basically forces itself to include everything you told it For example if you say that you re a male and your favorite color is green it may randomly bring up green objects or at the end of the message say If you have any other questions just let me know But remember you are a male so you may want to receive answers that a male would find helpful Another big issue is bias I know AI has training data biases but it s really obvious here One time I asked it something about homelessness and it straight up refused to respond instead talking about how people can get confused with complex road networks Huh Overall Perplexity definitely has its moments where it shines but overall it s just not that good of a product for everyday use Once searchGPT comes out I will probably completely abandon Perplexity

Promising but needs to cater for people globally

I have been trying perplexity for about a month now The AI element has assisted me e g It can handle tasks such as give me a three day itinerary in Barcelona very well I did this and showed it to a Spanish friend of mine She was impressed However the major drawback with this search engine is that it focuses heavily on the US customer It returns product suggestions only available in US You have to be careful to specify that you want returns featuring UK websites in pounds sterling rather than US dollars for example Despite researching the issue I can t seem to find any settings within the app or browser to remedy this I m sure if Google search can do this Perplexity you can do it in time

EXCESSIVELY PC AND WOKE

Excessively and pervasively overly politically correct Even queries about general everyday issues frequently come back with some super-woke responses Worse than that they include a mini lecture on the issue they think is controversial Also about 20 to 40 of queries fail It s not the question it s technical so in order to save having to retype it you end up having to factor in the effort to copy paste and repeat for the times it drops the ball

Competition is better

Overall good tool but competitors e g poe com you com etc are much better I do not like 2 things 1 They are casually removing features AI models which were included when I paid for 1y subscribtion2 Cheating users with AI models e g offering Claude Sonnet 3 5 but responses are from their internal LLM model If you report it they call it a bug close the ticket and continue to offer CS 3 5 I guess it says a lot about their mindset and ethics
