Underinvested tech programming shows with glitches

Pleo in principal is a good card system however the inability to resolve issues with their customer service and glitches on their tech side affecting direct debits and in particularly autopay system this year 2024 suggests that they have massively under invested into the tech platform behind the card payment system which carries a massive risk for businesses using Pleo

Generally functions but overall a poor glitchy experience

While it generally functions we ve experienced so many issues This is more of a beta product than a fully formed service which is problematic when you have transactions that rely on the cards working Some issues1 Being asked to authorise a transaction and the pin code you need to login to the app doesn t work no error reason just there s been an error Pleo support tell you it s you entering the code wrong then a day later the same code magically works again A week later it happens again and you can t purchase what you need as a result until a day later when your code starts working again 2 They ve now removed the support option from inside the app so you have to hunt an email address down if you have issues and you will have issues We email one team who tells us it s not their issue and we need to email support rather than just forwarding the email on 3 Auto top ups by Direct Debit state pending for 7 days we re still waiting as of today In the meanwhile transactions are bouncing and some apps and ad accounts that use this card get suspended There are also several glitches in the app UI both on mobile and desktop especially around activating cards and resetting pin codes We ended up with 5 cards for 3 people for a glitch that was blamed on user error In Pleo s defence they did waive the charge for the additional cards though On the subject of glitches in the app we apparently still have 2 cards on the way and they have been for two months now I hope they improve the service as it could be good

Purchases are not always completed

Sometimes purchases never completes after Pleo asks for authorization and the purchase process gets stuck Nothing else to do than try to do the purchase again

When it works well it s great but sometimes your money disappears in this case for 24 hours and no response on email from yesterday Poor service when things go wrong

Login failure

We have an employee in Morocco who can not sign in in Pleo I have tried to change his email address and I had to log in to his private email to verify the change But that doesn t help He can t use the app or the website to approve any payments for online buys It s still not solved

All works well unless you want to top

All works well unless you want to top up funds on the wallet at a weekend In the week usually it take 5-10 mins for funds to clear weekends you are lucky to see your funds at all that day Not great when you run a business that s 24 7

Flashy but not brilliant

Flashy but not brilliantPleo is fine for physical receipts that need quick scanning like a ton of other services but what I thought was really nice was their Fetch feature which automatically finds invoices in your inbox and automates bookkeeping However it is completely unreliable Sometimes it finds the invoices often it does not In the end it takes longer for me to cover the holes that Fetch leaves than doing it myself from the start I have already reached out to the support team but they did not offer any solution And the service level was subpar Cool marketing and a fast-growing-at-all-costs kind of company but the product is not better than similar solutions It just looks a tad better Besides the app is currently quite buggy on iOS I will have to reenter each expense several times to open the camera menu
