Warranty and problems

Purchased a ford 5 4 3v motor and 4r75e trans same time on 7-6-20 Went with powertrain because supposedly they used ONLY ford OEM timing components The camshaft phasers are not ford Called them and they said no we use dorman phasers not what I was told before I paid them By the way they are not dorman brand either Spoke with Eddie he apologized and said that with covid issues was having hard time acquiring parts Still shouldn t I have been notified of this Anyhow installed motor everything went well started and it was quiet the only noise was injectors ticking completely normal was happy as can be First oil change 500mi everything good next change 3000mi still good Unfortunately 4000mi a slight ticking started now 5000mi it has phaser knock and the lifter tick that plagues these motors Guess I bought it I own it now

I had to replace my 4 7 mopar then came

Packaging delivery customer service was great at first Sealing on the back side of the engine was leaking before even starting the engine Showed pictures waiting on response from the company Read that there was problems like this happening to many other engines people have purchased Hoping it doesn t take long before I get my feedback and after all the work I did I hope this engine works out good in the end I am very nervous at the moment I put all the money and trust I had into this company If this all ends up going good and the warranty covers the repair cost and all I will give the company a five star but for now i am just very skeptical and nervous about this whole thing

Not very organized or timely

I had to replace my 4 7 mopar then came the knock and it was warranty time after 6000 miles some how I have to pay they only pay a discounted labor rate 75 00 hr considering that Reno shop s charge 130 00 hr then only paying 16 hrs for a 20 hr job The sales rep lied about warranty coverageHopefully the SECOND engine will last a little longer NOT HAPPY AND NO KISSES AFTER BEING SCR ED

Terrible Communications

Initially tried to order through quote page My initial quote was higher than advertised on their website I replied with 3 questions 1 Why is your quote higher 2 There are 2 options available Which part number am I being quoted 3 Is it in stock The reply I received was Opps Sorry So now I have been at it 2 days to get the order started and opps sorry wasn t want I was looking for Next I called to order and no one was answering my call 20 min later I hung up threw a hail mary and clicked buy They called the next day and finalized the order verified it was in stock and was told when it hits the shipping area a tracking number will be emailed or I could track through my account online My account never showed a order was placed and I did not receive any email with tracking info The transmission arrived unannounced repair was waiting on tracking info to get scheduled This is a poor practice My core return 15 day clock is ticking with a now hectic personal schedule to shoehorn into not having my vehical for 2 days A simple email would have allowed the shop to have scheduled the tranny be out the same day the new one arrived and me running the next day This is my initial experience with this group and their communications is vastly lacking Just like JEGS COM The quality of the product I hope is better than the sales end of the business MY REPLY TO THEIR REPLY You just blamed the situation on bad phones it s in my spam folder and we did you a favor by not charging up front for a core It is 2023 and I believe I know to check my spam folder It s not there Go ahead resend that email and that should provide the original send date And how can you brag you sent it early Without any tracking info and looking at order and receive date and I don t agree After this smoke screen I now have concerns about the quality of the product Update Unit is installed and working Their selected freight line did not arrange delivery Unit was found on side of lane to house with NO inspection or signature Pickup was the same The driver called and said I am sitting here to get your transmission while I was sitting in a barber chair in town Powertrain apparently does not wipe out shipping containers My transmission arrived in a pond of fluid AND it did not come out of the unit Step 1 decrease new Unit so it can be safely handled Powertrain doesn t mention a things when they keep spouting EASIEST CORE RETURNS Many demands if you don t do this you get not credit blah blah blah The threats just set wrong with me as a customer The unexpected trip to town for printing services added another 27 4 99 for tie wraps to meet compliance of full core price return Threat and 3 to clean the oily mess before handling Add that along with calling neighbor to bring tractor and retrieve Unit and bring up the road to the shop The lack of communications all around has pushed me away from this company

Very bad experience

I read a lot of reviews and most all of them said that their products arrived within 7 days It was at least 5 days after I placed my order until I was contacted and informed I have to wait at least 4-5 weeks for my engine to even be built I was given an ETA of December 30th It is Jan 5th and I still have heard no word on it I have to get to work in the freezing cold with no car If I knew it was going to be this mush of a hassle I would have just bought a new car It would have Been less money and trouble and stress and I wouldn t be walking to work in the 20degree weather Not cool at all

Terrible company

So far the transmission is working but company was very terrible to work with They quoted me 3099 for My transmission When I called they said that was wrong and it would be 5500 Then after I ordered that called back and said it would be 2 weeks longer then I was told After it was finally installed their shipper picked up the core didn t leave tracking information with my installer Now I m being told I m going to be charged for a core because they don t communicate with their own shipping company Edit my installer found the tracking info It was listed as pro number Also the core had been delivered back to them for a week as they harassed me Now they are lying in the response to this review My request for a quote in text message was Looking for a price and availability for a 66RFE TRANSMISSION for a 2014 Ram 2500 with a Gas 5 7They re response Thanks for waiting - We offer these remanufactured - with our industry leading 5 year million-mile parts and labor warranty Price 3099 exchanged plus taxWe give you the option to waive the core for 15 daysBusiness shipping is FREE all month residential handling fees apply Includes free return shipping of the core Again so far the transmission is working hopefully I never need the warranty

The service that comes with purchasing a Power Train product is less than stellar I was initially told the engine I wanted was in stock and would ship 24 hours after ordering After I ordered I was told the engine was actually not in stock I was told it would be 2-3 weeks to build the engine and another 4 days to ship Then engine showed up 3 days after I ordered it No Identification on the engine Nothing in the crate Nothing to tell the garage whos engine it was No shipping notification was sent to me The shipping notification shows up 3 weeks after the engine arrived Return of the core was just as big of a hassle Pickup took forever and we were not notified when it was scheduled Then within a day of pickup I am told that because I did not provide the return shipping tracking number in time I would be paying the core charge WOW GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE I suggest a revamp of your service Get connected with all your departments And provide real time info to your customers

Can t fix Ford 5 4 defect

This 5 4 liter 3 valve are a big defect of Ford I have purchased 2 5 4 liter from powertrain both with in 75 000k engine start acting up Noise in the valve train rattling timing chain rear main seal oil leak and pan gasket On both engine pruchase from powertrain I have used top quality engine oil and oil filter don t make no difference And there warranty better get ready and wait terrible in paiding for warranty work I experience this with a 5 3 GM engine on a 07 Tahoe Oil pan started leaking bad warranty told me tighten the pan bolts more Still a bad oil leak Finally got the okay for repair got it done also had to send pan gasket back to powertrain warranty But waiting for payment on repair forget waited almost 3 months for payment From experience on this 5 4 liter 3 valve engine is to lock the cam phaser with a lock out cam phaser kit and tuner download in the pcm Replace camshafts with hi torque camshaft and compete timing chain kit and melling oil pump and that s it That s the way I fix the problem and done No more timing code and timing chain rattle My customer appreciate the repair done this way better The 5 4 liter has a good strong bottom end and cylinder head O C A R PROFORMANCE Vineland N j
