The jury is still out

The jury is still out I was very happy with the sales team and the delivery process however I got a transmission that is defective so my vehicle is out of commission The unit I received was actually in worse shape than the core I don t know how that s possible but I am hoping that the warranty is as good as the company claims I like to give credit where credit is due and I will certainly report back when this is resolved But it has cost me a great deal more than the cost of the transmission and the installation and I won t get that money back But these things happen and if the company makes me whole we can move on

Bad transmission replacement

The local shop where I had this transmission installed said that it was a bad unit It s an incredible hassle to have to have another transmission removed and returned I am losing a great deal of time and income from my vehicle being still inoperable This could ve been so well done I tried to be careful in my selection of who to deal with and your website seems to indicate that you are professionals who only do engines and transmissions in a factory setting and everything is supposed to be tested Thus far Powertrain has been verbally cooperative but nothing has been anywhere close to being resolved If you folks at Powertrain are reading this review PLEASE improve your quality control because this is costing everyone time and money I hope your company will honor your warranty

Sent a defective transfer case

Sent a defective transfer case I requested another one and 2 were sent Very poor communication with me No follow up call I have to contact your company to get updates on the status of my claim I was told the claim process is 30 days at first 3 weeks in and i do a follow up call to CS and was told it was 45 - 60 days for reimbursment check

4 transfercases blown from here

I have been sent 4 gm 149 transfercases that have all gone out Each time it costs me 300 dollars to tow and 300 to swap them out when I purchased the product I was told I had a 7 year hassle free warranty that changed to a five year you didn t get the upgraded warranty bs They won t show any invoice later than 2022 so I can t say jack sh17 I guess waiting on my 5th one now wich they refuse to send out till they pick up the last one wich I ve been waiting months for them to do

Questionable Quality

The service was good the engine came faster than expected The engine looked professionally built impressive even The engine installation went well Break-in procedures were followed No errors codes and runs smoothly Then came the issues Almost every time the engine is started hot or cold it rattles Cold start noise sounds like the valve train possible cam adjusters or lifters Hot start sounds like the engine lower end possible rod knock Very concerning I m embarrassed to start the truck around other people I bought the extended warranty but the only way to identify these issues is to tear down the engine Disabling the truck for days if not weeks costing me hundreds in rental car bills and uncovered supplies The engine is not 6 mos old I have serious concerns about it Is the engine rebuilt or remanufactured The quality of a rebuilt engine can vary widely There s a big difference I feel I made a bad choice and should have bought a factory remanufactured long block

Just horrible customer service called

Just horrible customer service called to extend the core deadline but that was not something they wanted to do so I got charged the core charge Now I ve sent the core back on may 8th and yet have to receive my refund fast to take my money but defiantly in no hurry to refund it I would not recommend this company to anyone The engine was great but good customer service goes a long way

Powertrain - known problems

Be careful about purchasing from this company Investigate local installers prior to purchasing Local installers refuse to work directly with Powertrain due to poor reputation I purchased an engine which failed within 6 months and less than 1K miles Per Powertrain warranty department this was a known manufacturer issue Company did replace engine however did not cover new install cost which I had to pay Powertrain defaulted to limited warranty language 4 months later rather than step-up and cover full install as this was a known problem

BUYER BEWARE

BUYER BEWARE I received a transmission for my Chevy Silverado 2500 DEFECTIVE from the start started making a whining noise when shifting that increased in volume from the first mile through trouble shooting with Powertrain Products Warrantee dept Approximately 200 miles were all the unit was used 50 were before diagnostics were began unit installed last week of January 23 warranty claim filed in April after several week of testing at mechanic NOTE if you receive a unit that is defective Powertrain Products will not stand behind that fact and will only cover a portion of the cost to install a second unit I asked Dan PP about testing and why if it was dyno tested how could i receive a defective trans his reply is it could have happened during shipping which i find hard to believe I m out 750 to install second trans My mechanic will not use Powertrain products again getting paid for warrantee took more than 2 months My advice is go to GM and get a remanufactured unit at least you can rely on getting good customer service
