Avoid RaceChip

I purchased a RaceChip for my Passat Tdi It worked fine for the first week or so Then I started having rough acceleration I tried all of the troubleshooting suggestions in their manual I eventually had to take my car to the shop and spend several hundred dollars to get to fixed I tried to return the device but the answer I got was it could not be returned because it had been over 30 days Do not trust RaceChip Update on 6 10 21 I sent my contact information on the same day that RaceChip posted their response I am still waiting for someone to reach out to me Response on 6 11 Your details are a little off I followed the return instructions from your website It says to complete a form and include it with the tuner which I did I received an email from you asking about the return I responded A few days later I get an email saying that the tuner was being sent back to me I never said I wanted it You said the tuner is fine You also said it was fine when I originally ordered it yet it caused my car to need repairs Why would I trust it again After I got the email saying the tuner shipped I posted on here You said someone would reach out to me and no one has I will be mailing the tuner back to you again Follow-up on 7 11Still no resolution It seems clear that RaceChip does not have any intention on making things right when customers have problems

30 day limit for refund

Fitted the GTS unit a couple of months ago but due to lockdown haven t used the vehicle much A couple of days ago put my foot down to overtake and after the initial surge of power Engine Management Light came on and vehicle went into safe mode Very dangerous during an over take Followed RaceChip troubleshooting tips but couldn t reset my vehicle I had to remove the Race Chip unit and return the vehicle to my local dealership as it is still under manufacturers warranty and they said the vehicle was showing 4 error messages all related to turbo boost Contacted Race Chip who said It seems the increase of the performance under near full throttle was too much for the engine and the way to signalize is to show the error light message Engines have different serial tolerances which means that the performance numbers of the maker is not always the real performance of the motor The performance increase includes a tolerance of up to 8 The performance also changes depending on the mileage of the engine In order to compensate this we have prepared a software update for your RaceChip Not surprisingly I am unwilling to refit the unit as my vehicle is still under manufacturers warranty and if this happens again there will be a lot of questions and investigation so I requested a refund but Race Chip have refused as they only offer 30 days refund I am now taking legal advice as they have admitted that the increase of the performance under near full throttle was too much for the engine which means the chip is not fit for purpose Also if I accept their proposed software update I will not get the performance improvement I paid for when I purchased their top end product

Ordered my chip it was sent

Ordered my chip it was sent marked as delivered a week ago but was not recieved contacted customer service they told me they would file a complaint and get into contact within 24 hours 4 days later no response My chip finally arrives after me myself calling fedex and dealing with them go to install it once installed no power to the chip run through the FAQs look online at similar installs chips installed correctly but no power to chip engine will not start with chip plugged in but works perfectly without chip Can only assume I was sent a faulty chip that was delayed and I had to deal with the delayed delivery myself contacting them to try and resolve the issue of a chip that does not work but I remain sceptical I ve spent 550 euros and feel scammed

Ordered a Racechip for my 2016 BMW M5

Ordered a Racechip for my 2016 BMW M5 Competition on 19 06 22 Filled in all the all the online details confirming model make of car After a week it was delivered The instruction manual is not for an M5 so where it is showing the boost sensors it is in the wrong place When it came to fitting the connectors were incorrect I sent them pictures of the actual fitting on 28th June They said they would send out the correct harness They sent it by economy courier which arrived 9 days later Guess what even after I had sent them the pictures of the correct connectors they sent the wrong fittings again 6th July back to customer support 7th July I receive a response asking me to send them pictured of the connector on the car I did that the first time However I resent them to get a further response asking me to check if I am taking the correct sensors off They sent me 2 pictures of a 540 I believe which has different intercoolers and the boost sensors for the M5 are on the side not the front of the intercoolers No response from Racechip I send a follow up email 11th July message from them we will send you a new harness when it arrives no estimated date 13th July message to say it has been shipped 22nd July harness arrives and is correct one They could have at least sent in by 24 hour courier If you buy from these people and have a problem be aware of my storey I also called them on a number of occasions Customer care is poor at best

Worst company i ve ever dealt with

Worst company i ve ever dealt with Racechip S arrived unboxed and opened instructions and found them to be for a different car turns out they only have the one standard instructions and email you ones for your car The email was a picture of my engine bay with two sensors circled one you could see as the engine cover had been left on So racechip are sending out units with instructions they know that you cannot use to install racechip into your car They say some installs can be tricky my car would of needed some of the engine taking apart which im not qualified to do and they wont cover garage costs for install Customer service is horrible spoke to an Oliver who told me he wasnt qualified to answer some of my questions and the other guy i had to ask the same question at least 3 times as he insisted on answering the question he wanted to answer not the one i asked No effort made to keep my business or even asked ii i would like to be transfered to someone who could help me just seemed keen to process my return If they had been upfront about the install for my car i never would have ordered rather than ordering finding out things the long way seems a complete waste of time Also has me concerned that if the company puts this little effort into the instruction manuals does the same effort go into the chip Horrible experience best avoid racechip and find a company that will support and look after you

RaceChip Order 500342308 I purchased the GTS app 21 08 21 I wanted something to help with economy on my commute I tried every reputable mechanic in Plymouth and Exeter and everyone refused to install I asked my mobile mechanic and he also refused The response was they re unsure about the effect this device can have I tried for months and failed I tried to fit myself but to purchase the correct tools and dedicate time off from work was more more money I contacted Racechip for a refund and they refused even when the product was never installed and still in its original box I even offered it back to them for free in the end and they still refused The told me to sell it myself The price for these chips on eBay etc Is for a third of the cost new And no one buys them I ve been trying to sell this for nearly a year now and guess what no one wants to buy this product My advice For the same price you can get a mobile engineer to remap your car It s safer reversible cheaper with no extra fitting costs better customer support and service face to face support better performance and a warranty to protect your car Stay away from Racechip I can t say if the product works but with poor customer support and a company that doesn t even believe in there own products they refused it s return I recommend avoiding this company and products

Free Reprogramming yeah right

Ordered the top of the range Racechip for a 318D N47 2010 BMW E90 in JulyIn September I upgraded to a e93 N47 2011 320D same engine just different factory power Threw EML s so contacted support Racechip informed me the unit needed to be retuned to make it work with my new car The harness I had transferred directly over but I was informed even tho the engine is more o less identical I needed to pay 165 to get a Racechip GTS to get it to work in my car So 2 months later after having paid 399 and the new GTS being on offer for 399 at the time I had no choice but to pay the 165 cost for a replacement Terrible customer relations borderline theft and a total mockery of the free programming claim plastered all over the website Buyers beware only buy if you plan to keep the car for a while Used Racechip for years for 5 cars and recommended to many family members but won t recommend anymore Feel robbed As a response to the reply from racechip If you purchase the best chip available at the time at the same price as the new number one product you wouldn t expect to have to pay 1 4 more for the same item Being only 2 months between the transactions too I wouldn t have minded if it wasn t the EXACT same engine I purposely purchased my new car in mind that I could swap all my additions mods across Hence my poor review just a warning to all that the free reprogramming is in fact not free even if you are getting the exact same product just branded differently

Ordered the xlr for my audi Still not received 10 days and counting after it was to be delivered seems to have been sent to moon as tracking is not existent Racechip promise to refund or send replacement but that was a lie Now got PayPal involved to get my money back Sent me a message they d refund me I replied numerous times I d accept refund on PayPal and now ignoring me Stay well clear of these con men as they also tried to get me to pay for someone else s order that was a hyundai and to pay for the shipping had my address and name on it so just shows how incapable racechip are of running a business Do not trust this company Pathetic If racechip reply to this feedback I still have email you sent regarding a bogus order and asking for payment im sure this is fraud and a criminal offence by asking for money by deception

I was forced to file a complaint with the gendarmerie for fraud following my purchase The box is incompatible with my engine All tests and instructions were followed After 2 cases changed I asked for a refund They sent me back a third I had someone from customer service explain to me that they didn t care about my problem that I didn t have to return them and that I could go and file a complaint TO FIRE THEY ARE SCAMS And following this review know that RACECHIP will contact Trustpilot to let them know that I am not a customer so that my review is not published Unfortunately for them I kept all the credentials and Trustpilot and a completely neutral and objective site I hope you don t make the same mistake I did
