Disappointing lack of communication
My initial call I asked them to be honest what were our chances of getting a Mortgage Started off promising the world saying it s more than possible to sort a mortgage and affordability isn t an issue with my income Fantastic Then after getting our credit files I heard nothing a week later had to chase this up and now I m told affordability was a problem I didn t understand how as the Amount I was borrowing was very small I Was looking to borrow 62k house was 140k and I m earning 51k a year myself and only 5k debt Partner not working but in receipt of PIP this didn t add up to me why affordability was an issue Spoke to the branch manager who apologised said affordability was not an issue and that nothing had been done on my file in the week they had my case she seemed genuinely concerned and promised to get it sorted and a DIP would be done within the hour but she wanted to check my file so she didn t miss anything and give me any wrong advice Great Finally getting somewhere had DIP approved within 45 mins The next day I get a call I m told a mistake had happened the DIP was only in 1 name mine and not me and my partner as It needed to be The manager didn t realise there was a 2nd applicant This was despite the branch manager telling me she looked over my file carefully as she didn t want to get anything wrong or give wrong advice At the initial phone call I asked what rates I d be looking at to be told they didn t have a clue until a DIP was agreed I finally got the name of the lender they want to place me with look on their website and they charge 12 4 with a 5000 mortgage application fee Then it clicked This is why affordability was an issue as the lender charged such high rates but rather than be honest and explain this is why they didn t they kept it hidden so they could get me an offer and charge a fee I contacted simply adverse and explained there wouldn t be a chance of me paying this for them to say they can swap me in 6 months to a lower rate Not sure how that would have happened as the lender only did a 2 and 5 year fixed Again below hand tactics to try secure a deal My overall opinion is that the company provides a Circus performance from start to finish and clearly not advising clients of the mortgage fees until very last min which are past astronomical Would give it 0 if I could Avoid at all costs and find a broker who is honest and provides good advice upfront and who will put your best interests first I spoke to Another broker the next day who told me to sit tight for a few weeks and More lenders will come into the market at a MUCH better rate I feel I dodged a bullet with this one
