LEICA I DON T-AH BUY THIS AT RISK OF GROWING OLD FAST
I ve been a Leica fan ever since my first M3 film camera on Fleet Street in the 60 s and purchased the Leica V-Lux for a similar endearing experience - how wrong could I be Never before have I experienced a gadget that is so complicated as to be useless There are so many choices menus menus within menus and tantrum-driven applications that it truly is a waste of money Take one simple procedure for instance how to show the damned still photo on the back screen How indeed It used to happen - but no longer and there is no apparent way to understand how to do it I have asked several people to help and all give up By the time I have occasionally been lucky enough to figure out a few of the various combinations of tech-choice any daylight mode needs changing to nighttime By the time I figure out the nighttime choices it is bloody daylight again And so Leica goes to bed where so far as I am concerned it can stay for ever and a day although I will probably give it away to some poor sod I don t like Oh for a camera of quality that will allow the user not to grow old and mutter jibberish by merely trying to take a picture or two Give me strength Bottom line Made in Japan not Germany as one is led to believe at this kind of price there should at least be readable and unambiguous instructions and there should not be choices within choices to the point where the only choice is to ditch it

I am a professional photographer and
I am a professional photographer and eight weeks ago upgraded a Leica M10 to a new M10R But after using the camera I noticed it was not focusing accurately and asked for it to be adjusted Leica here in the UK and a couple of dealers confirmed this minor adjustment means the camera must go to Germany and service turnaround time is three to four months This means I will not have my adjusted camera until after job I bought the camera for has finished I regret spending the price of a small car on equipment I cannot use for the job I bought it for and all because the service time is outrageously long By comparison turnaround service time for my excellent Canon professional camera system is 72 hours This abysmal service time and inconsistent quality control is something to consider when buying Leica equipment Update the camera shop I bought the camera from after hearing my sorry story replaced it with a new working Leica So thanks to Parks Cameras for being very helpful and no thanks to Leica for being rubbish

Avoid at all costs -Abysmal QC Customer service
Bought 2 x M-A bodies and a Summilux 35mm Both were shipped with dust in the viewfinder Sent both back and was assured they recalled all stock from the stores in Germany as this was very odd I was assured that the replacement would have been thoroughly checked and signed off from the technicians Received the replacement after over a month and again dust Yes that took over a month from this so called luxury brand No express courier and they tried to tell me that UPS didn t offer this service Did you ever hear such absolute lies Any Japanese brand I have ever bought can have a camera back to you in under 2 weeks repaired serviced I had spent 15k and they didn t give a damn Refunded everything as their QC is absolutely disgraceful I wonder how they can even charge 8k for a digital M Analogue M cameras at 5k each and they can t even get dust out of a viewfinder or have it sealed properly I have had multiple cameras from 3-4 Japanese brands and never had such a ridiculous issue in many years of use I called the Berlin store throughout the whole process and one of the sales people even stated Yeah we have been having a lot of problems with analogue cameras So what the hell does that tell you 15 years I waited to be able to afford a Leica and lenses and was buying 2 as they were seeped in history and when I finally had the funds it was a complete and outright utter disaster I emailed head office 4 times and didn t even get as much as a reply They don t give two f ks about customers - I had read about their diabolical repair and service times and thought I d take a chance I didn t even get that chance as I didn t even get out the gate with them Avoid this brand company and don t even waste your time as you are a nobody to them no matter how much you spend I was a NEW customer ready to be part of the family but they are too up their own back end to even want to try and fix my issues and just ignored me I d never recommend them to no one from this experience Disgraceful Simple fixes overlooked and they call themselves a LUXURY manufacturer I have point and shoot cameras that have better quality control

My Leica D-LUX stopped sending pictures
My Leica D-LUX stopped sending pictures to my MacBook Pro via its USB port some time ago I checked this on a PC as well and this appears to confirm the fault was an onboard camera rather than a computer software issue To put you fully in the picture as it were I was given very short shrift bordering on the angry and contemptuous both for the product and for myself by personnel at the uber cool aka more style than substance London Leica At first the tech manager called by the amiable but frankly inexperienced front-of-house guy would not properly listen then in a feat of knowing it all insisted it was a software issue and only then offered up the fantastically feeble there are no tools in Germany and no parts OK the last part may or may not be true as in off-the-shelf readily available fall-in-my-lap I do not have to do much to even look No he didn t even try to offer a solution As a brand ambassador his attitude very effectively killed Leica for me Still we at least I do expect that even in these days of corporatist mayhem Leica as a world-famous brand could ensure their illustrious products would continue to be repairable and work nearly for ever OK my Leica is mainly a Panasonic but it still carries the Leica badge Leica subsequently denied it was even their product It s being repaired - elsewhere

Think VERY carefully before buying Leica
I bought two Leica s directly from Leica with the M9 digital sensor several years ago one colour one monochrome Together they cost around 12 000 new Serious manufacturing quality issues which Leica acknowledged subsequently emerged with the M9 s - namely colour saturation problems with M9-P and serious sensor degradation with the M9 Monochrom rendering the cameras virtually useless I recently took them into the Leica shop Mayfair to see if anything could be done To cut a long story short they didn t want to know Leica s golden age came with the introduction of the purely mechanical M3 in the 50 s and 60 s which was a very versatile and compact film camera with excellent optics We are now in the electronics age and Leica doesn t do this well because it doesn t have control over all the components If there are quality problems in the future how would you feel about throwing 12 000 now adjust that to today s prices down the drain My advice think very carefully about alternatives before you re seduced by the my point of view and other marketing jingles

Great Product Awful Customer Service Total Waste of Time to purchase
I recently attempted to purchase several items and was extremely disappointed with the entire experience Despite successfully placing the orders and being charged for the product I received an abrupt email informing me that my order had been canceled without any explanation After reaching out to customer service I was told that they couldn t process the order Leica cameras are known for their quality and are a significant investment not just financially but also because they are hard to get It s incredibly frustrating that a brand that charges premium prices can t offer a service that matches the quality of its products There was no proactive communication no clear explanation and the entire process was a complete waste of time For a company like Leica I expected a much higher level of professionalism and customer care Great products but the service experience has left me questioning my trust in the brand Disappointing to say the least

Unfortunately a very bad experience
Unfortunately a very bad experience Shortly after ordering I tried to cancel hence I made a mistake product not shipped yet A day after I ve gotten a response - camera has already been shipped So I waited until the camera arrived checked if everything was in place wanted to proceed with the return No answer for up to a week and I then returned it on my own cost through MRW Couple days later camera arrived tracking didn t here back from Leica for about a week tho then being told the camera will be checked for a refund Another week later 5 charge due to a damage on the back Blurry fotos where sent as proof In the fotos yes it appeared to be a little spot BUT rather like a greasy finger print with the size of 2-3mm Again very blurry fotos However I didn t even use the camera - opened the box to see if everything is in place before the return The original Leica Box already had been opened before at there where some signs of use in the Box I won t be surprised if I am not the first one being charged a fine for having made use of the right to return a product I wish I had taken more pictures before returning the camera Leica this is a no go I don t usually return products but in this case I had to and this is a serious let down Customer service - a nogo

I sent my 20-year-old Leica Trinovid binoculars for a service to the customer care division of Leica UK in Mayfair London They sent them to Portugal where they were thoroughly cleaned up and refurbished and returned to me today at absolutely no cost Furthermore the store kept me informed at all times I could not have wished for better service Well done Leica We ve owned Leica binoculars for over 40 years and you ve just confirmed what an excellent choice we made
