AI Review Summary Based on 140 reviews

Reviews show consistently high satisfaction with staff friendliness, service quality, and cleanliness across multiple locations, with many guests praising helpfulness and reliability for both leisure and business stays. Several guests highlight strong customer service, responsive problem-solving, and positive experiences with meetings, events, and gym facilities. A recurring theme is appreciation for staff going above and beyond during issues. However, some recurring complaints point to pricing concerns, value for money, and occasional issues with room readiness, parking management, and booking systems. Disparities appear between expected and delivered value, especially in certain locations and for specific amenities like air conditioning or pool access.

Rip-Off drink prices at the VILLAGE HOTEL CHEADLE

Rip-Off drink prices at the VILLAGE HOTEL CHEADLE Went to a Christmas Party on 23 12 2018 Evening was very nice and enjoyable but the drink prices at the bar are extortionate 6 for a small glass of Prosecco They really capitalise on unsuspecting guests especially at Christmas

Underwhelming for the price - Farnborough

Though we thoroughly enjoyed our stay we do feel that the experience was not quite worth what we paid The TV in the room didn t work and booked breakfast to be included for an extra 15 00 - though this was only a soggy breakfast sandwich a small orange juice a yogurt a small fruit pot and a breakfast bar felt like a child s small lunchbox We would consider visiting again though not in the near future

Village Hotel Maidstone Kent

I have stayed in a Village hotel before some years back but had forgotten until I saw the neon sign that they have in their restaurant I have no bad memories of the previous stay with this company The hotel is large and the car park seems just about sufficient in size although I always find it cheeky that hotels charge you for parking there which this one does Initial impression of the hotel wasn t great as they have the self service screen you have to prod which takes away the personal experience and receptionist job though I was taken through the process of checking in as the hotel requests a credit card for your purchases from the restaurant and bar which I tend to refuse as I don t like companies to have access to my personal finances Unlike some other hotels refusing to submit my visa card details was not a problem The room was nice and clean though two of my colleagues claimed their bathrooms were dirty and one was even moved to another room because of that The internet is good and fast though you have to go through a signing up process which appears to sign you up to their marketing which is a big negative for me It even welcomes you to The Revolution which is all a bit embarrassing really First nights sleep was bad due to people partying in the floor above There are no phones in the rooms so the only option was getting up and getting dressed to head to the reception so I just lay there and put up with it until it stopped around 4am At 7am I was woken to a thumping sound coming from downstairs which I had to endure for 7 nights in the end which I believe is coming from their kitchen I mentioned it but nothing appeared to change Another colleague said they heard it and thought someone was having a rave somewhere Breakfast is not good If you are a vegetarian then you have to ask for sausages which are those old school fried vegetables in the shape of a sausage The lady asked me if they were any good and I told her no She seemed genuinely interested There are eggs but only scrambled which are made from a liquid that they buy in Be prepared to wait a little longer as they drain the water from them with a slotted serving spoon before putting them on your plate I asked for fried eggs but they simply don t do that so the disgusting and tasteless eggs it was but just the once and I didn t finish them My breakfast from then on was cereal from one of those little boxes not very environmentally friendly don t you think with a nice yogurt though this was from an individual plastic pot and some pre-chopped fruit in a glass jar more like it Toast is sliced bread from the cheapest shelf of a supermarket with a choice of jams or marmalades from little plastic containers Environmentally they should do better If you want a slightly better breakfast then give your money to the Premier Inn around the corner which although is not much better it is better Especially if you re a vegetarian or like eggs I didn t eat in the restaurant but was told is was average but expensive Burger and chips is an eye watering 16 as of September 2021 and I think they can get away with it due to the location as there is almost nothing around it at all I also didn t go to the gym or pool as their website said it was closed so I left my swimming stuff at home I think it s nice to have a pool at a hotel so that is definitely a plus point The gym and pool appear open to the public membership I assume so there are a lot of people coming and going Although it s no longer a requirement to wear masks in public I wish the hotel required it as more than 50 of the people there are wandering around without masks and standing inches away from you Luckily the staff are more sensible and wear masks Overall if they sorted the breakfast out and had someone checking the rooms for dirt then I may have given it another star though maybe three stars is all it deserves The outstanding feature that I thought I would leave to the end is the staff They were nothing but polite and welcoming at all times There was a sense of happiness in them that I don t often see from the usual disgruntled corporate hotel staff members Nothing was a problem and they all seemed to speak English which has become a bit of a rarity The breakfast staff seemed genuinely pleased to see you and that goes a long way for me The only downside was when a colleague noticed a man chopping vegetables in the kitchen when the door swung open and saw him shove a load in his mouth with his hand For me that is totally unacceptable and I hope someone catches him doing that Even outside of Covid that is still a serious health hazard If you get a cheap deal and want a decent room with wifi then this is a decent enough hotel but do be prepared to make alternative breakfast arrangements unless you have low standards

Heroic staff in a woefully understaffed hotel

I had to stay in my local Bracknell Village Hotel due to building works Whilst it may be a good place to stay for a day or 2 a prolonged stay was not so good I am an inveterate traveller though have not stayed in an English hotel for some time Which is why I found the reception or lack of it very confusing There was a small desk beside the entrance to the bar restaurant on the right but no indication as to a proper reception or how to book in I was not the only confused visitor Eventually I found a member of staff to de-confuse me At first I was in a room for the disabled the fire door fitted so tightly that it was very difficult to open the toilet had no lid on the seat a hotel policy The most unhygienic idea as it is right beside the sink toothbrush etc a disabled person can always leave the seat up if they choose The flush handle is on the far side of the system meaning one must lean over to reach it There is no shelf for ones belongings so the sink must do The staff in reception and restaurant bar were very helpful and pleasant trying to help with any issues however the room cleaning was virtually non-existent I had to continually ask for the bins to be emptied though reception staff noted this it was still not done on 1 occasion for a week until I found a cleaner myself the bathrooms are not routinely cleaned the staff not being notified that I was a long term resident It appears that the cleaning staff are given only 5minutes to service a room which should include tidying the bed exchanging towels from the floor topping up the tea coffee but not replacing used cups it seems but not cleaning the sink and toilet This was only done when I insisted twice in 6 weeks On the whole the staff coped well within the bounds placed upon them by a head office that seem to think all their hotels were the same and needed the same amount of staff and room in the dining room This is a popular hotel with families visiting the local attractions such as Lapland Legoland Windsor Castle etc Which means the numbers in rooms are at maximum with the dining room space and staffing woefully inadequate The staff were heroic in their attempts to seat everyone and top up the supplies as required however each morning was a noisy struggle to find a table and get safely to from the buffet The car park has only 3 disabled spaces which most of the time are filled by the users of the very popular Gym shame they can t walk too far The staff could do nothing about this not their fault Overall the management were very hard working pleasant and helpful it seems their hands are tied

Room 248 The Village Leeds

When you book and stay at a hotel one expects certain facilities to be available I will list what I believe were omissions in this room and the service received but first a coupleof compliments fresh towels were brought and offered each mornig and the hot water was realy really hot Now the disappointments The room was poorly lit - three angle lamps one each side of the bed and one on the desk The only ceiling light as at the entrance With the exception of those along the desk serving the kettle the TV the lamp and a fan there were no other power points in the room not even at the bedside There was no fridge no safe no telephone no printed advice about safety not even for Covid-19 no tissues in the bathroom no bedside drawers and only a free standing two drawer unit and two small desk drawers The room is not centrally heated without air conditioning On entering the room was freezing the only heating able to be provided by a convector heater under the window When the room thermostat was changed from 0 to 24degs the room eventually became warm The four pillows on the bed were as hard as bricks - two were exchanged for softer ones The bathroom air extractor was not working so the mirror and glass steamed up and without airflow stayed that way for a long time The water from the hot tap in the bath flowed agonizingly slow The shower head was inflexibly fixed Eventually we found BBC News and Sky News on Channels 232 and 233 respectively having waded through from Channel 1 These are predominantly design faults but on the service side there is little room service limited to providing fresh towels Cups were left dirty all day the bed just had the duvet put back on the bed and the pillows repositioned but the sheet was never straightened from one morning to the next And on one occasion when we had forgotten to pull up the bath plug the staff didn t notice and left the water in the bath While the hotel group may boast superior gym and spa provision as a hotel it begs a lot of questions if this particular room is the standard We will not be returning even though it was booked through Snaptravel at a discount

Good and bad- Cardiff Hotel

Village Hotel Cardiff Overall the staff were very kind and helpful we enjoyed our stay however there were a few issues that let this hotel down Pros- pool is big 2 jacuzzi pools that kids are allowed to use and the gym was excellent had clean changing rooms great staff and complimentary towels and locker padlocks The Starbucks was great to grab breakfast and the location was good to get into Cardiff The travel cot was set up and ready for us on arrival Parking is free when staying in the hotel Cons- the room wasn t sorted the next day as you would normally expect just a new pile of towels left for us There were crisp crumbs in the corridor on day 1 and these were still there on day 3 leaving We had 3 bottles of body wash in the room but no choice of shampoo conditioner We asked at reception if they had moisturiser or toothbrush sets and they said they don t give out any complimentary toiletries as advertised Only 2 cups in the family room for 4 people The light in the bedroom was really poor and felt very dark The biggest issue was the pub and grill food Massively overpriced and disgusting The mixed grill at 29 99 was small and inedible and sent back The salmon came with just 1 piece of asparagus no toasted sesame seeds the chef said he didn t know where they were so the waiter found some but untoasted the children s tomato pasta and fish fingers both tasted very odd and were not eaten A complete waste of money We ended up having to go and get McDonalds for the children

I am staying in the Maidstone hotel I wanted to book dinner for Sunday night and was told they would be fully booked as football was on the app said there were no free tables but on going downstairs to leave the hotel to eat dinner out I saw the dining room was pretty empty and it was only 20 00 The room is clean and modern bed is comfortable and shower is nice The swimming pool area is clean and the pool water was warm The breakfast today was poor The hot water for tea was warm the full English was warm and wasn t filling at all it was a child s portion No white bread Overall I would stay here again it s a good location but I would not pay for breakfast again
