I have only one note for improvement

I have only one note for improvement knowing more about the age group of the kids I d be teaching and of the expectation that I would be their only teacher all day in charge of all subjects would have been helpful It wasn t too difficult to pivot once I learned what the structure was but I wasn t told until I walked in to teach on the first day

Moroccan adventure

I m not long back from Morocco and have to say that I would feel comfortable booking another trip with this company As I was travelling alone and it was my first time volunteering I was nervous Prior to leaving home I had been in contact with Habib who was my local Moroccan contact He checked in as I flew to Morocco and checked in since I ve gotten home I really enjoyed the work in the cr che I was in and the women there were very supportive My only negative is the cost It is quite pricey and I would love to know how much of the money goes into the communities we are helping

Great experience volunteering in a

Great experience volunteering in a foreign country It was fantastic to have support when required and the local team was fantastic to work with As part of the construction and renovation project I was responsible for looking after three classrooms to be opened shortly in a rural school It was great to be able to directly contribute to a worthwhile effort serving the community

With IVHQ I found the perfect program

With IVHQ I found the perfect program for me I went to Cusco for medical volunteer and through IVHQ planned activities around the city it was an incredible experience The family host was amazing and I got to make friends from all over the world Definitely was more that I expected

Disconnect with local team

Well organized prep package and ample email phone assistance before leaving for project from IVHQ and multiple emails from local team On site no email connections with faces at local level no name tags rushed presentations and unprofessional demeanor at front desk Despite being TEFL certified and 30 yr veteran teacher my assignment was with only a few students Will try again with a different project

Prepare for the unexpected

For my trip in Greece I think the volunteer shifts should ve been a little more organized It s an amazing way to learn how to be independent but just to be thrown into it is not easy for some I did love that the coordinators there were very very nice and helpful throughout my stay there

My experience

I really enjoyed the end to end process The coordinator checked in frequently enough that I felt assured and safe to raise concerns should I have any I felt that I the process was very seamless and like a well oiled machine I felt very supported from the moment I signed up and felt that the process to get into my country of choice documentation vaccinations booking activities food needs accomodation requirements were all taken care of and easily accessible through the portal All the information was in one place and easy to access and pay for

It was an unforgettable experience

This is my first time volunteering and all I can say is it s very heartwarming unique experience I recommend everyone should do it as well The people in the houses are so kind and friendly Even found friends which after volunteering for 4 weeks in arusha realized how much these people mean to me The program itself is great But a tiny thing that bothers me that you can change is the food in the house we live in Nothing wrong with it maybe a change with the food very day and not the same meal for 2-3 days straight for example

Sports Volunteering in Rio

Genuinely I had am incredible time and adventure volunteering in Rio de Janeiro Brazil through IVHQ org and the local Jive team I went into this blind not knowing what to expect and it s fair to say it left me with the impression to do it again I had an awesome time volunteering all thanks to the incredible people and staff at the Vila Olimpica Da Gamboa The staff were welcoming and showed me the ways of the Rio cultures I had the chance to to take in all the beautiful sights sounds and tastes of the amazing Carioca culture You can t say you ve really been somewhere unless you attempt at least to make new connections or plant a tree otherwise you re just visiting Happy to say I didn t visit Brazil but I ve been to Brazil because of all the connections and friends I made from different places that will last a lifetime I m sure

Overall great experience with some improvement needed

There were a lot of moving parts during my experience I wish I would have had options for better night buses offered to me instead of being given the bottom option I wish I would have been told the name of the jungle I was going to before hand so I could look into it I would have liked to have more info about tours before I got to Peru because that caused a lot of issues when I tried to upgrade and figure out what the offerings were with my schedule Otherwise it was a great experience but some of the organization and planning could be better I have had great things to say about the experience and it was overall wonderful but room for improvement
