Measure the actual window opening
I picked the valance based on the dimensions shown on the site, but I measured the outside of the window recess instead of the opening. It ended up about an inch too wide. The style and color look nice, and shipping was fast, though custom sizes leave little room for error. I wish the measuring guide had made the starting point more obvious.
