Second and third time s the charm

After a pleasant first experience with 8mart I decided to use them as my go-to proxy service for Japanese goods until further notice Since then I ve used them to ship two more boxes and once again I m satisfied with the customer service I received prompt answers and suggestions and how everything was neatly packaged Probably the best of the three proxies I ve used imoSome things to note from my latest experience- There s no indication of how much an item weighs let alone the consolidated box You only get an idea when you choose your shipping option and the one 8mart picks and sends the confirmation email for isn t ePacket which has a limit of 2kg and is my preferred shipping option as it s cheaper I felt like this renders the pick your shipping option section moot It d be nice if 8mart included a comment box where you can write details such as if the combined weight of items is over 2kg then please pack them in two three etc boxes that fall under 2kg each or they emailed me to let me know ePacket isn t available due to the weight limit being surpassed and whether I want everything packed in insert how many boxes so ePacket can still be used- I had to pay a 2000yen repacking fee due to being charged EMS shipping I wasn t willing to pay for one box Definitely a first for me I ve asked for repacking once - from a proxy that charges ridiculous hidden fees - and they did it for free However the extra fee combined with two separate ePacket shipping fees was cheaper than the EMS shipping Also I read 8mart s FAQ page as thoroughly as I could took a few days to decide whether I wanted my items repacked- No indication of how many days are left for items in the warehouse until free storage expires You ll have to mark your calendar the day you receive the your item has arrived email and calculate it yourself A little inconvenient for those who wait until the last few days to consolidate ship or simply forget- I ve had three unsuccessful item claims this time but it s worth noting that one seller didn t want to negotiate prices no indication was made on their profile or in the listing s description I always read them and blocked the 8mart account another bailed for undisclosed reasons so 8mart simply refunded me after a week and the last one - another buyer bet me to it be prompt about the items you want is my takeaway from this - Personally I have no problems with the 15 item limit the most I ever had in the warehouse at a time was 13 but this may be inconvenient if you re used to proxies with no warehouse storage limits and don t want to pay extra fees 8mart s definitely the type of proxy you should use when 1 the items you want come in sets or 2 you don t plan on buying A Lot

Good experience would recommend

The good - Reasonable flat fee Others may find 500 yen pricier than other proxy services that provide lower rates but none of those have access to Mercari Japan so I think it s worth it Proxies that can access Mercari Japan tend to have rates depending on item cost charge much more than 500 yen- Can pay for items directly via credit card Some proxies I attempted to use required putting funds into a wallet which I find to be fussy- When you shop through their Rakuten and Mercari service without a request form you can buy items immediately You don t need to wait for say a whole day- No hidden fees - which leads into how it doesn t charge VAT for secondhand goods The proxy I used before did this to my distaste - it didn t make any sense tbh - so I was worried 8mart would do the same Luckily that wasn t the case Makes me wish I used this service all this time- Customer service is prompt They usually answer my requests within ten minutes There was a little trouble in requesting an item I wanted through Yahoo Japan Auction but it all worked out in the end- Boxes are well-packaged Everything s wrapped in bubblewrap and there s air bags that keep the items from shifting around in the box Once again much better than my previous proxy service that used paper to repackage items thus adding more weight and chose boxes larger than necessaryThe bad - No indication of the weight for each item I usually use ePacket shipping meaning my packages have to be at max 2kg so knowing the weight is a must for me But I understand if this isn t within their terms of service- Can t pay for items via Paypal Not a problem for me but for those who prefer Paypal it might be a little frustrating
