Requests don t always get to the person who manages the catalog circulation

There s no information on the website for MAILERS of catalogs to make good on the requests to stop mailing catalogs I just learned that requests from consumers to stop mailing catalogs were piling up in my clients email inbox and they assumed it was being handled There s no magic Catalog Choice assumes the companies know how to manage the requests but aren t doing anything to ensure the requests are actually being managed Catalog Choice should be taking your info and sending it to the national opt out list managed by the DMA They should also contact the leadership of any company directly on a regular basis to be sure they have a process in place to get these requests where they need to go Catalog Circulation is OFTEN managed by an outside consultant I had no idea my client was getting opt out requests and we have 650 that were ignored because their customer service person didn t know what to do with the requests They just saved them in a subfolder in their email inbox for years Now I am aware of these requests and will make sure these people are suppressed from future mailings that I manage but I might not be hired to manage the next mailing and how will the next consultant know this is happening Catalog Choice needs better relationships with the companies who are mailing catalogs to close this loop It s a great idea but they don t seem to understand the dynamics of a small business or offer any support on the business side I have contacted them with this complaint directly and hoping to hear back

User since 2008

I have used CC since 2008 and have successfully canceled 54 catalogs in that time New ones pop up frequently and I don t expect CC to have every catalog provider listed but I think they do a good job This is a great service provided for free if you choose it to be What s not to like about that

Have been using Catalog Choice for

Have been using Catalog Choice for years Have used it to successfully stop the flood of junk mail to myself and several others Is it 100 effective No They do not have every catalog or fundraiser listed but you can make suggestions for them to add to their list Also some companies organizations do not accept opt-outs online One must call But CC shows this gives a suggested script and allows you to keep track of the calls as well You can see who you have opted out from and when that last occurred Does your name get added back to mailing lists from time to time Yes maybe because you made a donation or bought something online So you have to go back and opt out again But opting out a handful of times per year vs junk mail daily is so much better Because companies organizations plan their mailings so far in advance it takes weeks if not months for the mailings to stop from any one source This is not a total fix it for junk mail but is a great tool in its reduction

Free effective helping the environment A

I ve been using this FREE service for many years and have cancelled over 150 catalogs easily and quickly There are the rare corporations that ignore your initial request but that is not the fault of this website I don t understand the complaints especially when this service is offered for free It is so much easier to use catalogchoice org than to go to each vendor and request to be removed from their mailing list I think CatalogChoice offers an excellent service and I intend to donate annually
