From Faro airport Portugal The shuttle bus driver who was working on 19 10 23 at approximately 9 30pm was extremely rude to me for no reason I was in a party of 4 adults and 1 toddler After a long wait people managed to push in front of us and ran onto the bus whilst we were in the middle of loading the boot with our luggage so my husband the rental car driver and my dad went ahead We weren t happy with splitting our family up but we did anyway We waited for the shuttle bus driver to return I asked for a baby car seat he dumped it in the car and sat back in his driver seat I said I have no idea how to attach the car seat and he said you just attach it without giving me any instructions I said this is dangerous He said I should sort it out or get off and wait for my husband to collect me After much argument he let out a huge loud sigh and came round trying to attach it but failed to I was too uncomfortable to use it and anxiously left my toddler on my lap I ve been told he receives a lot of negative feedback and someone complained immediately after I finished mine Something needs to be done Aside from this the car itself was good and there were no problems

Centauro very good until recent booking issue
Every trip was painful through the competitors who appear cheaper on first look Centauro have been amazing since we switched to them in 2021 Their premium hire price works out cheapest and the service is so quick and painless No queues or upselling or little traps to get more money out of you Can t recommend Centauro enough Have used them in Valencia Murcia and Alicante Always fantastic and helpful EDIT Unfortunately this review was short lived I had an issue with the website payment that meant my booking was cancelled Now Centauro are telling me they are unable to honour that booking and that I have to pay 1500 rather than 700 Very upsetting that they are not able to honour the original booking when clearly the issue was with their website in the first place as they fully accepted was the case

Ridiculous aggressive insurance sales at checkin
Rented at Palma Mallorca airport 8 days two SUV type cars through rentalcars com We chose Centauro due to the ratings and car choice price The whole rental was fairly ok but the checkin process incl an aggressive insurance sales approach was beyond acceptable Hostile tone non-informative agent The Centauro agent even went so far to say quote if you have a crash or accident with the car dont call us call a garage and your own insurance company and then he ballpoint pen crossed over the telephone number of Centauro at the Palma airport on the contract we were given We firmly rejected extra insurance 24 EUR day as we had already taken care of this beforehand incl using rentalcars com option The agent kept trying to scare us in to buying his insurance option The cars were new good condition and fine returning the cars was smooth and easy Shuttle was effective Deposit of fuel was returned and 1 200 eur deposit for accidents was released Will not forget the checkin and will choose another company in the future

rental car breakdown - centauro wont pay my costs
rental car broke down and I needed to take a taxi to airport I was assured by Centauro that they would reimburse my costs I have been emailing and calling since and all my requests for payment have been ignored The link you have provided does not allow a customer to submit a complaint or enter any details about my case and only provides an automated response telling me my query is considered resolved Anyway I have already emailed your customer support multiple times with the taxi receiptsfinally received contact a month later and they have repaid my expenses

Be very aware
One their insurance declined customer service was appalling 162 fuel charge deduct from credit card twice We were told it would just be held - not professional On drop off they were surprised that we wanted to wait until the vehicle was checked over - very rushed not pleasant

Rental car seats sprayed with mystery white paste blotches
Just rented a mini clubman for 10 days from Centauro by Rome Ciampino airport The rental depot was off site and involved free minibus transfer from a secret unmarked location by car park 5 at the airport It took half an hour asking locals to locate the spot The car had covered 60 000 km and was covered in small scratches had 2 chips in the wind screen and the interior looked like someone had fired blotches of wall paper paste randomly round the back seat area The staff didn t care about documenting the damage and filth and refused to make any notes of the damage we identified In addition they charged me 88 for 3 4 of a tank or petrol when there was actually only 5 8 in thebtank The car wipers were worn out and smeared badly plus the 2 front tyres were right on the legal limit if I m generous The car drove perfectly well for the 10 days and when returned they only gave it a 10 second check before signing it back in and refunding my 1400 deposit immediatelyThe best thing was that the rental only cost 71 for ten days at the start of February 24 Very cheap indeed despite the expensive fuel cost

Unexpected expenses
First thing that we would like to mention that we didn t get enough information how to find centauro After departure we had to talk with another rental company about how to find this company because information was not given Second one when we found a car with centauro logo centauro staff said us we can take only the driver because don t have empty place to bus I was lucky because i was with a family and they took us to rental point but I think not my problem that you don t have an office in airport and if you take your clients with a bus send 2 bus to airport if not enough place for 1 bus because it is not comfortable to take a rental car by yourself and drive back to the airport to pick up your family when your family kids grandfather or just a friend are waiting for you in the airport The car price was the best that we could get for 5 days but unexpected expenses a little bit shocked deposit more that one hundred insurance almost two hundred and this amount you have to pay before you take a car yes all of rent car companies not mark insurance expenses but i think this is cheating because this is unexpected expenses and you always have to have a money near yourself more than you expect

Centauro completely ignored the main point of my last review
Centauro responded to my previous review thanking me for my favourable comments but completely ignoring the main point - that it is no longer possible to access the basic level of car hire directly with the company though it is available when booking through a broker I am currently looking at car hire for forthcoming trips to Spain and this is still the case Via my own account with Centauro in May a Kia Ceed or equivalent would cost 309 80 euros at the supposedly discounted Premium rate which is the only one offered I have therefore booked the same Centauro car through Booking com at a cost of 118 I cannot understand why Centauro cannot offer the same sort of deal directly to its customers
