Lack of a Duty of Care

My 1st review which was invited by Hinton Park Burial Ground was removed even though it was a true reflection of my Mothers funeral service on April 5th 2024 Unfortunately for us I am still waiting for a formal written response to my written complaint which was recieved by them on 12th April 2024 providing written evidence highlighting the lack of leadership during our funeral directors sick leave The service we recieved did not match what was discussed and agreed upon initially Whilst appreciating sick leave cannot be helped it is a standard practice within a Duty of Care to allocate another staff member to cover that families case load to continue with the organisation of the service and fulfill their written obligations up to during and after the funeral service It was during my Mums funeral service that we were informed that the tribute photo slideshow would not be available as the photos I sent 8 days prior had not been forwarded due to our funeral directors absence this resulted in the service being paused to retrieve our own ipad from our car to download our own photos to view - this was supposed to be a quiet private emotional moment to reflect on precious memories not running around frantically trying to organise it ourselves - it was also after my Mums funeral service we discovered that the Order of Service booklet had been amended without my consent knowledge to include a private personal email I would never have consented to in full this was our keepsake its all you have left its something you can reflect on - I cant bear to look at it now Had we been allocated another staff member during that time of absence these problems could have been avoided but no staff cover was provided no further support was offered meaning the service being prepared unbeknown to me was simply left as it was with no communication no proofs being sent no thought of the consequences nor the feelings of othersIm extremely disappointed that in spite of the issues raised the paper chain I provided to simplify their investigations and the request that this be formally dealt with only in writing continues to be overlooked its such a shame given apart from all this all the staff appeared to be friendly professional and the service provided although not in its entirety was simply beautiful in such a peaceful place To update my last written communication with Alex prior to his annual leave was on 3rd May 2024 in which I was informed a Summary of the investigation will be made available AFTER discussions take place over the phone this is in spite of me requesting on more than one occasion any future communication be made via email in order to have a written record of these events which appear to be taking longer than is nesessary

Before and After Experience

My second attempt at submitting this review Unfortunately I have 4 family members who are laid to rest or interned at Hinton Park and the family have a plot prepaid for another family member The Before experience began nearly 4yrs ago and could not be faulted The team were very caring and professional worthy of 5 stars Regrettably it is now this year the After experience which has upset so many including my father and our family Up until this time the grounds have been very well maintained and yet have still retained a woodland feel after all any planting that loved ones wish to do has to be in line with the rules of native plants no problem with that Yet it seems acceptable for the rule makers or new owners to disregard all of the rules for their own means No consultation respect or even fore thought to people s feelings have been considered A notice on a notice board is insufficient when you intend to leave the grounds to go wild especially when it is so wild that family cannot find their loved one s plots Yet strangely the area in front of the main building and office is very well manicured and maintained Surely this should be included as an advert for your re-wilding project Having read through the upsetting reviews I find it again disrespectful to use terms like the grounds look different this is incorrect the grounds look abandoned After the overgrowth has started to be cut down it was left there like a farmer s hay field Why not clear as you go When family members have to take it into their own hands to clear around their family plot so our 92yr old father who needs to use a walker and struggles over the rough ground can visit his wife it is a very poor show This is not what was paid for The plot was chosen for its proximity and view to the lake just as Mum wanted that view is now nonexistent When my sister complained about the state the response was tell us what plot it is and we will sort it out for you too late we were already working on clearing the plot Besides everybody deserves to be treated equally with respect and no special treatment because of a complaint Why when you read these ongoing reviews and replies has no one had the decency or integrity to put their hand up and admit we got it wrong no apologies just excuses Please don t respond with your seemingly standard reply of the grounds might look a little different John Hazell

Utterly devastated

Utterly devastated Last month I bought a new memorial plaque for my daughter s grave because the original plaque had deteriorated very badly since 2006 - which I do understand happens as they are made of wood Today I visited her grave and the new plaque was missing which was pretty heartbreaking I m sat writing this trying not to cry I went to the office and to cut a long story short the plaque had been removed by the staff because I did not buy it from them Yes you do read the above paragraph correctly I followed the ethos in what the plaque was made from but they chose to remove it as I had not bought it from them It would appear that they see us relatives simply as cash cows To be honest I didn t think to go to them after so long and I genuinely don t remember what we signed back in 2006 whilst arranging her funeral and burial To be accused of breaking the rules is a farce as there are so many items within the unkempt grounds that have been there for a long time and do not fall within what is allowed to be there I genuinely cannot describe how it felt to see my daughters grave unmarked A very kind gentleman on reception gave me the plaque back and I am so grateful for that and for his empathy today I have returned it to her grave and if they remove it again do I upset other relatives by insisting that the powers that be remove all precious non-regulated items from other graves No

I totally agree with Christine s review

I totally agree with Christine s review about the grounds We have had a plot there since June 2020 and I have never seen it look so bad as this summer I understood they were cutting it by August I went there yesterday and although the grass has been cut it was a real mess Funnily enough the paths were all cut back The grass in between the graves should be the same I spent 2 hours there cutting around the grave which should have been maintained by the Hinton Woodland What on earth is going on Hardly a good advert for future business Such a shame as it was once a beautiful place It s as if once they ve buried your loved one and taken your money they don t care anymore If it doesn t improve I will be contacting the Bournemouth Echo So upsetting

Dissatisfied with the grounds still

Over a month gone by and although an attempt at cutting the grass around some graves others have not been I had spoken to a Groundsman last week who said it will all be getting done This week it s still the same This is a hazard I went over and sprained my ankle the other week It s dangerous with the wet long grass As it s so uneven on your underfoot How long before someone has a serious accident As a lady said today once the coop took over it was never the same I can t fault the service it s the aftercare that s a zero As usual the new plots are all manicured Please don t bother with your scripted response Claire I ve given up Actions speak louder than words

Disgusting overgrown grounds

Personal experiences when first arranging cremations here were that if friendly and sensitive staff Sadly this is where my positive experience ends The maintenance of the grounds is awful Once they have your money it seems they don t care I have had issues over the years which I have raised and been given feeble excuses about however nothing compares to the utter disgrace and mess of the burial grounds this week The distress this has caused my family when we came to the rose garden to leave flowers for my grandparents is unacceptable It was so overgrown and riddled with weeds that we were unable to find the name plaques We do not live close by and so only visit every 3-4months and it was a mess last time This time however I am literally speechless It appears the company are professional up to the point they have taken your money and then don t care The complete lack of respect for both those who have been buried cremated there and the families who wish to visit is nothing short of disgraceful

Appalled and devastated

My Grandma is buried here I am absolutely horrified with the flooding Nothing has been done year after year My Grandma has been passed 9yrs Not a burial ground but a swamp It is a hazard Never seen anything like it It is either severely over grown or severely flooded Topped off with Sunday mother s day this year As police presence at the burial ground and running riot across our loved ones as two grown men were fighting not a staff member in sight the office unmanned Absolutely appalling to say the least Please think carefully before burying your loved ones here I don t say this lightly Once your loved one is buried and they ve taken your money it s obvious they don t give a s no empathy no sympathy and no understanding I would have avoided this place like the plague If only my grandad had known On a serious note I don t know how anyone can be happy here You can see yourself Staff are rude with little to none or false assistance I second Gill Jackman Review on hereOver all incompetent management and uneducated staff

Disgusting lack of respect

Jane Young3 reviews 1 photo22 minutes ago NEW-EditThis used to be quite a beautiful tranquil reflective space to sit and reminisce Our dad loved to go and sit and chat to his wife and son who are both buried there Now to our absolute horror its like a derelict scrub land Its long grass in parts almost waist high grass and weeds You can t read the plates to see who the grave belongs to and in parts where the grass has been cut to allow a sort of path plates have been left strewn across the path How very sad is this I don t really understand I have spoken and written to Hinton and have been assured that there are on the case I m afraid that is little comfort to us It should never have been left in the first place We have all paid good money for our loved ones resting place the state of the grounds shows just total disrespect How very sad

Dire

Dire isn t it And every bad review is responded to by someone who tells the bereaved person to contact the team clearly demonstrating that the team is a fragmented business always ready to put the onus of responsibility for everything back on the bereaved I ve been trying to contact them direct about burying my mum in a DIY ceremony as we buried dad there in 2000 Nothing Nil No response And guess what - I bet I get one here telling me to contact the team So you can look me up from the email I sent you from with a proper answer to my question or you can just go on and on not listening or giving a sh I tried the co op in probably July They were both illiterate and completely unable to understand what i was saying Terrifying

Disappointed and dumbfounded at lack of staff protocol

Following a recent visit to a close friend of mines burial area I decided to write a review to ensure any potential customers purchasers are aware of the appalling conditions many of the special resting places are left in A close friend of mine has been buried here for a while now and each year the access to her special resting place is marred by the flooding that occurs Surely the owners of woodlands should be addressing this major issue There should be some kind of drainage implemented to allow bereaved family and friends access to their loved ones resting place The gardens are also unkempt and not how the brochure implied the resting place should be when customers are purchasing their plots The staff lack any empathy or compassion when they remove personal belongings from loved one s graves without consenting with the family first They do not respond to any queries that families raise either I m just totally disgusted and appalled as they are still trying to persuade people to buy these plots without the drainage works being completed first
