Significantly worse than free resources available

I was repeatedly prompted to write a review of the overall BootCamp even though I had only completed one of the multiple courses in the curriculum so I m reviewing it early because of the incessant prompts The course content is presented in a way that is next to impossible to learn from - we are provided pre-written code and then told to copy paste other lines of code into it at specific spots Out of the few dozen tasks we were asked to perform over the 5-week course only one required critical thinking or problem solving of any sort and the rest could have been done by anyone familiar or unfamiliar with coding and they wouldn t come out with new knowledge at the end The only slight redeeming factor was the excellent instructor who was knowledgeable patient and engaging I hope he gets a raise as he works hard on his Saturday mornings for not a lot of compensation to share his knowledge with students I should also mention that the first course topic in the full-stack developer course is Bootstrap which unless you re making a website for a hobby isn t relevant in the industry - making websites with Bootstrap s built-in styles isn t exactly a sought-after skill Students inexplicably presented this material before moving on to learning React where it is not used at all There is also a referral program that s pushed very aggressively and it s pushed alongside the review request process with verbiage implying roughly that it s so hard to get a paid job coming right out of a BootCamp so you should really pad your wallet by referring as many people to the BootCamp as possible This is borderline predatory in my opinion and very likely results in the multiple high reviews I ve seen of this bootcamp online I selected this bootcamp as a result of those reviews and so far haven t gotten much value out of it if any and I wouldn t be surprised if others were in this same position Instead of paying this provider for their courses I highly recommend the multitude of free and inexpensive resources available through platforms like freecodecamp coursera udemy and edx

Don t Recommend

Not sure how honest this reporting system is Hopefully my review doesn t get deleted I took the intro web development course with the plan to complete the full stack training through NuCamp Honestly I learned more from Udemy courses that I purchased and I wouldn t recommend NuCamp to friends or family The instructor was largely absent lacked experience in the field and struggled understanding answering basic questions The website tells you to expect 17 5 hours of content per week but in reality I was finished with things every week in about 6 hours INCLUDING the weekly workshops My instructor made the weekly workshops into a joke where he haphazardly went through the slides we had already seen in the videos that week and asked if there were questions When we finished our workshop assignments we were allowed to leave with no further work or review I was typically done in less than two hours each Saturday I do not feel like this course was worth the money AT ALL Like I said I ve paid far less on Udemy and received much better instruction and higher quality material than NuCamp Don t spend your money here There are free bootcamps out there with more to offer and certainly other paid programs that are higher caliber as well

Below Expectations

I enrolled in Nucamp as I was looking to gain skills in Full stack development and this seemed to be an affordable option with good ratings I do not feel the same upon finishingPros 1 It s more affordable compared to other boot camps2 Admin is responsive if you make requests for cohort change or anythingCons 1 A mix of good and bad instructors if you are lucky you will be in good hands 2 Less time is given to work on the portfolio project you need time to work along with the boot camp 3 Content is not updated The backend course for Node jS is 3 years old React Native was an old one as well Unfortunately the instructor for Node was tricky to follow and as a result I could not understand the backend at all 4 The boot camp is less focused on building your concepts It goes from basic to completely advanced topics If you are new to full stack I would not recommend this boot camp I would have to turn to free courses on youtube or Codecademy to complete my understanding5 Most of the students Instructors are US based The course talks about the Europe timeline but there is hardly any set-up for Europe-based students If you have prior experience you will be able to follow along The Backend was totally a disaster for me Overall I will give it a 2 5 5 rating
