I was repeatedly prompted to write a review of the overall BootCamp even though I had only completed one of the multiple courses in the curriculum so I m reviewing it early because of the incessant prompts The course content is presented in a way that is next to impossible to learn from - we are provided pre-written code and then told to copy paste other lines of code into it at specific spots Out of the few dozen tasks we were asked to perform over the 5-week course only one required critical thinking or problem solving of any sort and the rest could have been done by anyone familiar or unfamiliar with coding and they wouldn t come out with new knowledge at the end The only slight redeeming factor was the excellent instructor who was knowledgeable patient and engaging I hope he gets a raise as he works hard on his Saturday mornings for not a lot of compensation to share his knowledge with students I should also mention that the first course topic in the full-stack developer course is Bootstrap which unless you re making a website for a hobby isn t relevant in the industry - making websites with Bootstrap s built-in styles isn t exactly a sought-after skill Students inexplicably presented this material before moving on to learning React where it is not used at all There is also a referral program that s pushed very aggressively and it s pushed alongside the review request process with verbiage implying roughly that it s so hard to get a paid job coming right out of a BootCamp so you should really pad your wallet by referring as many people to the BootCamp as possible This is borderline predatory in my opinion and very likely results in the multiple high reviews I ve seen of this bootcamp online I selected this bootcamp as a result of those reviews and so far haven t gotten much value out of it if any and I wouldn t be surprised if others were in this same position Instead of paying this provider for their courses I highly recommend the multitude of free and inexpensive resources available through platforms like freecodecamp coursera udemy and edx
