I am a client or potential client PARO I was looking for a part-time bookkeeper for my business I went through their process and they found an out-of-state bookkeeper And then their contract came up The contract is incredibly one-sided and it doesn t seem to protect anyone except PARO It also has a one year term which is quite onerous especially if you don t like the talent they send over to work on your books And if something goes wrong during that one your time Such as somebody steals your financial information the contract says they are not responsible They control everything including the payment method and terms They also have binding arbitration The contract was so long and so onerous that I declined I don t know why any business out there would agree to use this online platform Buyer beware

This concept in total is fantastic as an opportunity for CPAs to take on fractional work and work with a range of companies The communication from the corporate entity is very poor to nonexistent most of the time yet they charge a very high markup so it is not justified given the lack of effort Further when dealing with highly educated professionals a bit of respect goes a long way This is common when working with other organizations but Paro seems to struggle here A lot of their internal staff is relatively young and have not had a chance to fine-tune their professional skills and it shows CPAs and financial professionals would be advised to shop around and look at other opportunities There s a major accountant shortage

I would not recommend Paro Paro assigned our company an experienced bookkeeper It ended up being a total disaster with the bookkeeper s lack of responsiveness and numerous errors that she made in our books The work was sloppy and evidenced a clear lack of attention to detail

I had my contact schedule 3 calls with me to ask me the exact same questions each time which was annoying And then when the final contract was sent to me the hourly rate was twice as much as I had been told previously because they made a mistake The bookkeeper I was paired with is great however

I appreciated the opportunity to work with Cray Kaiser and look forward to future opportunities

Paro has provided opportunities with a range of early stage companies They have been instrumental finding prospective clients setting up interviews and providing structure to the process of obtaining consulting clients

The network is effective in assisting with supplementing an existing book of business or even as a primary source of business if freelancing My only recommendations for process improvement would be a more visible resource for freelancers if they have administrative issues or questions On more than one occasion I ve had a difficult time finding personnel that can assist with administrative issues such as inquiring about a non-receipt of a 1099 Paro s EIN underpayment etc Additionally I find that I sometimes have two or even three separate individuals departments asking the same questions about the status of projects as though internal communication needs improvement For example if an open project has fewer hours in a given month than usual on more than one occasion I ve received an email from an individual or department asking for an explanation which I then provide followed by yet another department or individual asking the very same question and even possibly a third individual department I have begun simply forwarding the initial correspondence to the subsequent inquiries for which I previously took the time to document This is indicative of internal siloing

First conversation did not go so well however Micheal one of the reps made up for it

Edited review I initially left a 1-star review here with lots of details about my experience It was all based around their sales process which was not suitable for my needs Basically I knew exactly what I needed and had a pretty good idea of what I wanted to pay for it The sales process was not particularly streamlined or easy on my end though which was an important factor for me in hiring someone for minimal accounting help I ended up finding the accounting help I needed elsewhere Even though I made that clear in my review I still received a genuine response to the review and an email from the head of marketing I ended up having a brief phone call with him in which I provided some more details about my experience Usually this kind of response or followup from a company after a bad review especially if the reviewer is not likely to be converted into a client is defensive and lacking in personal care or attention Paro s response was anything but It was clear to me that they genuinely wanted to learn more about what went wrong so that they could improve their processes I very much respect that My initial complaint still stands hence 4 stars instead of 5 but it sounds like they are working to improve their sales process for those that know what they want and just need a simple streamlined experience If you are lost and confused about accounting bookkeeping and you re not sure where to start or you don t know how much help you need and you just want to talk to a proffessional first to get more comfortable Paro is likely a perfect fit for you
