I decided to try Penji to offload the design burden I ve had to handle myself for other businesses I started This is what I ve learned about Penji as a seasoned designer trying to breathe To be successful with the basic Penji plan you need to understand 2 things 1 Penji as they explain themselves are NOT mind readers You need to know exactly what you want AND how to properly describe it to the designer You need to be comfortable doing research AND creating reference materials for DOs and DO NOTs The research I did and the references I provided got us on the right track quickly and I was amazed at how quickly the designer nailed the brief 2 You need to be okay with every change taking one day and demanding your time and attention You ll never get a change back the same day If you are in a rush Penji is not for you One added note i was pleasantly surprised that you can have as many projects going as you want you just can t start them all at once When they finish something on one they move to the other The one active project at a time thing is misleading not sure why but in a good way I m glad that I can do 5 new projects and have them all coming back to me day by day out of sync This helps a lot with reducing the queue I would recommend Penji to any creative that has clear vision and ability to describe what they want and has the time to document what they want and respond to revisions Further I would assure any creative that was skeptical like I was that you ARE NOT stuck with stock illustrations and templates as I assumed but the designers can freely modify anything you ask for They are not production designers They are in fact artists and skilled design staff This is a huge win Penji is friendly informative and detailed in their communication You ask they deliver I needed a vector deliverable sent as individual SVGs and not AI They did it the next day I am hoping to use Penji more and more and I am able to direct the creative but not execute it and increase the workload my company can handle once we use Penji for clients and not our own internal needs Penji s price and value are very competitive I appreciate Penji s proprietary software for managing things even if there are some typos here and there

Our organization was able to participate in the Penji for Nonprofits program The program is great for organizations that do not have a dedicated communication or marketing team to work on design services As part of the program we received unlimited graphic design help as many design projects as you want we asking for logos business cards and stationary and even provide access for several members of your team to the platform to submit requests I do wish there was a bit more of an onboarding to your brand as it would have made projects more efficient For an organization that has never worked with a design firm before we weren t sure how to express exactly what we wanted Overall a great asset for organizations though

We used Penji to create RISE by Sundara s Annual Report This task began on March 9th and was completed by April 28th After the designers understood our style we were pleased with the outcome

Penji offers a genuinely helpful service especially for those who either lack design skills access to design software or simply don t have the time to dive into design work Their ability to transform a low-resolution image into a vectorized masterpiece has been notably helpful for me It s true the process isn t always seamless At times I ve noticed the designs appear to be quickly traced in Illustrator without much creative enhancement This isn t a constant issue but it does highlight the variability in the skill level of the designers It seems a bit like a lucky draw at times However the real gem of Penji s service is once you connect with a designer whose work resonates with your vision you can request them for future projects which adds a personal touch to the experience Regarding the tool proficiency of the designers there s room for growth While they are competent in design their mastery in utilizing tools like Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop could be more polished As for the Art Director feature in the Daytime plan its benefits aren t immediately clear to me The role and impact of the Art Director in enhancing the projects could be more transparent aiding in understanding their contribution to the process The technical side of Penji particularly the website interface has room for improvement I ve encountered login issues and difficulty in managing multiple projects simultaneously which can lead to lost time This aspect is crucial to address given the limited daily working hours of the designers In summary Penji is a beacon for quick design needs particularly for those in a creative bind While there are areas for enhancement such as designer tool proficiency and technical reliability the service has the potential to be a valuable asset for young creatives and designers seeking efficient and effective design solutions
