Don t bother stay away
Can never speak to anyone at this company its a joke I know the mortgage market is difficult but I would seriously reconsider any dealings with this company All they had to do was change my mortgage offer which i originally waited 3 months to receive and ive currently been waiting over a month for a form to be filled out with still not end to the situation Seems like they are waiting for my offer to run out so I go to a higher rate Corrupt as they come I wouldn t bother

2 months I waited for a decision
2 months I waited for a decision on my mortgage application The most agonising frustrating wait I ve ever endured and for something as important as this Everything fell through and I was left with no other options Oh and I got stung for 439 in fees and still trying to find out if this will be refunded but I can t get through to talk to anyone Avoid at all costs I know things are difficult right now but the 2 months wait seriously affected my mental well-being disgraceful

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE TERRIBLE SERVICE
The most appalling customer service on my mortgage Claim to allow you to pay in arrears but this is NOT the case you have to pay in advance caused me terrible cashflow problems the person i spoke with was incredibly unhelpful passive aggressive A huge mistake which i am very much regretting AVOID

DIRE SERVICE - HIGH MORTGAGE RATES AND LOW SAVINGS RATES
SINCE SUPPLYING MY CONTACT DETAILS THE MELTON HAS MADE NO ATTEMPT TO CONTACT ME WHICH MERELY HIGHLIGHTS THEIR DIRE SERVICE 22 years of good service competitive mortgage and savings rates but now - DIRE Not only do they not answer their phones but neither do they return calls if you leave a message Bank Rate now reduced by 0 25 and they immediately reduced my savings interest rate by 0 5 to 3 5 to give savers the fairest interest rate but my mortgage rate remains at 5 69 Appalling from a Building Society which is in theory at least owned by its members DO NOT EITHER BORROW FROM THEM OR INVEST WITH THEM They promised to ring me but failed to do so This was undoubtedly due to their inability to justify reducing Savings Interest Rates while keeping my mortgage rate at a ridiculous 5 69 Sad decline of a once superb Building Society

Do they actually care
Like others have experienced I called their main customer number and held on for a few minutes for their savings team On all three occasions was finally transferred to an automated messaging service saying the staff are all busy and will get back to me within five hours The first call was 72 hours ago The second seven hours ago I am not holding my breath for any response

Terrible customer service
I have a fixed rate savings account with this society I have received only one interest statement from this society since opening the account in 2022 I need yearly statements for tax purposes I called them and was on hold then a recorded message told me they were busy so left my name and number as instructed 24 hours later still no call back even though the message stated within 5 hours Their website is equally frustrating For a small building society not to be able to provide the basics is inexcusable

Not recommended
Seems almost impossible to get through on their Head Office number I have been asked to phone this number to get a password to operate my online account This is a prehistoric way of doing things in the first place We are now in the 21st century but their procedures are Dickensian -- and made so much worse when despite repeated efforts at different times of day it is impossible to get through It is no use getting a recorded message telling me they are busy or getting a high volume of calls I am busy and if there is a continual high level of calls Melton need to employ more staff I want efficient modern service

Don t Bother
Seems impossible to set up a new account with online access After multiple letters emails and phone calls I gave up and went elsewhere Nobody ever answers the phone and the email responses are useless I gave up after a month and opened an account elsewhere which was all sorted in 48 hours

Great service
Opened a fixed rate bond today at Oakham branch What a pleasure it was to meet staff who were interested and efficient and within 1 hour while we went off for coffee the account was opened Other businesses should take note This is the way things should be done Many thanks
