No major complaints Reliable accessible convenient

Since I usually write reviews only when I m ticked off I guess I should chime in when I m satisfied I ve had a mortgage and checking account with US Bank since 2012 and have had mostly positive experiences and found the tellers and managers helpful and accommodating Experiences may differ by location or region I ve been to 3 different branches in my area and never encountered any major problem Perhaps your experience may be improved if people in the local branch are familiar with you I make a point of visiting in person at least once a month to pay my mortgage in person so that the tellers recognize me and know who I am I do the same when I pay my credit card each month at a different bank The one annoyance I had with US Bank was when I paid my monthly mortgage in person with a cashier s check drawn on another bank and the US Bank teller told me there would be a hold on the funds until the cashier s check cleared The entire point of a cashier s check is to guarantee that the funds are good and immediately available I had thought banks universally accepted that fact I explained this to the teller but she was adamant that it was US Bank policy to wait until all checks cleared I pushed back on this and it finally got straightened out the next month with a different teller -- but only because I d been a long-time customer in good standing That still didn t address their policy of not immediately honoring cashiers checks but I didn t pursue it any further Once you accept that banks and insurance companies are not in business to serve their customers but to make for themselves and their shareholders you will have a better experience I pay my credit card and mortgage bills in person on the day they are due because I don t give to the banks one day earlier than they deserve it I keep a minimal amount of operating funds in a checking account at US Bank and my savings in a different account with better interest at a credit union The credit union has crappy service few locations but better interest rates My credit card is at a different national bank because the interest rates were lower they have branches all over for easy payment and I get immediate email notifications as soon as any charge is made to my account Don t expect one bank to fill all your needs They will try to convince you that they can but do your homework My checking savings and credit card accounts are at 3 different institutions US Bank has been very easy to deal with has convenient hours 6 days a week and is reliable for the specific purposes I need them for and for that I give them 5 stars
