I keep trying to unsubscribe from academia edu but the unsubscribe link forces you to either sign in or to open an account to unsubscribe Extremely annoying and never use this website and discourage all my colleagues to use this annoying website

Captivating but FALSE emails
They wrote me numerous email saying my company was mentioned in some more than 1500 academic papers Intrigued I subscribed to a monthly account but I discovered this was all untrue No papers mentioned my company I just lost 14 eur Beware Don t get caught in such a trap UPDATE - after 6 months Though they replied to my request and gave me back subscription money I still believe their marketing strategy is too aggressive and based on false claims

What a mistake
What a mistake to sign up with these guys I keep getting spammed with emails about mentions of me in papers enticing me to upgrade my membership to find out more and see my citation rank etc Only problem is there are NO mentions of me in any papers - only perhaps other people with the same name I can t even check out the details of the mentions out of curiosity as there s no way I m going to be upgrading to a paid membership

Academia sends me emails about mentions when I have never published a paper on it It sends me emails about papers I have already read and doesn t email me about new papers from people I am following If there is a new notification it can take several days to come through as an email

Stealing your identity and flooding your mailbox You cannot cancel your fake account I never created an account with Academia but they stole information about me from my Google account and created a fake account with my name and picture from my Google account The link support academia edu hc en-us requests new ticket form id 1500000715421 is not working There is also not anny opt out at the bottom of the email

Trying to unsubscribe from the academia edu emailings by clicking the unsubscribe link I am getting the option to either sign in or to sign up for an account but not to unsubscribe I just want to get off the email list I do not want to sign in or sign up and I am pretty sure that I have a legal right to unsubscribe from the mailings

Despite multiple requests to unsubscribe from is this publication yours emails they keep coming This has been going on for six months It is spamming now pure and simple Academia edu is not respecting the notification choices of their customer base - and they are also breaking UK law by doing this

Dear Academia Team I signed up on your site last year for a research project Since then I have not used their site anymore and saw today that I 158 were deducted on Paypal I canceled the subscription immediately and have not used it for a year That I had to pay 90 last year and now almost double is not okay for me I would like to have my 158 back otherwise I have to go to the bank because money was debited without my consent

I keep getting emails that I am getting mentioned or used in academia papers only trying yo charge me a huge amount for a premium upgrade The pount is that anything i write or photograph is either compleetly copyrighted by me So academia is in violation or publisg unde creative comments share alike in witch case academia still is in violation Third posibility is then just spamming me with email Witch in the way they do is also in violation

Terrible site looking once and get overloeade with SPAM Trying to unsubscribe unfortunately doesn t work You get a message unsubscribed succesfully and within one hour new spam mails apear USELESS REPLY RECEIVED TELLING you can adjust your settings of course did I do this but as already advised this doesn t work THEREFORE remove me from ALL your Servers
