Not value for money for the customer

A Bookshop org voucher for 20 was this Christmas my first experience of the web site I like the idea of supporting independent bookshops but I m afraid it doesn t work A book I had in mind cost 23 85 on Bookshop org plus 3 99 postage It cost the cover price 25 in my local independent bookshop but I couldn t use the voucher there I had to order and pay postage It seems to me that the only beneficiaries of this transaction are the Royal Mail and Bookshop org - not the bookshop not me the customer

Only half delivered

Both books i ordered were shown as available when i ordered then only one was delivered no warning or explanation on the delivery note or in the email notifications that the delivery was on its way Only by logging back into my original order did i find that the second book was unavailable with no date given for when it might be delivered This is no use in the run up to Christmas I cancelled and ordered it from an online retailer Delivered the next day I did try to support local bookshops

Due to a technical error my order was

Due to a technical error my order was duplicated and I was told there was no way to cancel the second parcel I now have to take it and queue at my local post office and then submit a claim for reimbursement of the costs incurred as you can imagine this is no fun at all during a postal strike One of the parcels was damaged in transit

It was not made clear that your Unhappy

It was not made clear that your organisation has nothing to do with the bookshop I thought I was purchasing from And also the book was shown as being in stock I was then informed that it was out of stock why do you not keep the status properly updated If I had known I would never have ordered from you and it has made me very reluctant to order from you in the future As you may suddenly informed me that the book is out of stock

Confusing delivery process

You sent me an email to say that you had send 3 of the 4 book that I had ordered with no explaination of why the other available book was not sent Wanting to make sure I got it before Christmas I cancelled the order on the site but still got sent the book that I d since bought elsewhere as it hadn t been sent with the other books and I thought I d cancelled the order

Website - difficult search function

My belief is a good service should cost more which unfortunately the website function doesn t offer It s incredibly hard to do a specific search eg trying to find a book on snakes for a 5 year old If you are browsing without a target in mind you can find more popular titles so that works When clicking into a book option you can only see the cover which means if I want to look at a couple of pages inside to see if the book would work for my child this option isn t available - which other websites offers Delivery is fine from previous purchases

I love supporting local bookstores but disappointed with experience

1 My initial order came damaged and incomplete Ordered a puzzle and a book and the package was missing the book 2 I emailed you a complaint and then was told a second order with the puzzle and book were sent 3 The replacement order was supposedly sent on 12 6 The tracking information says of the post office in my town Shipment Received Package Acceptance Pending I went to the post office and they said the pallet had been unloaded and my replacement package from Bookshop wasn t included 4 Essentially you told me you sent a replacement package but didn t 5 Customer Service responded within 2 days and indicated I would be refunded my money

The book arrived damaged

I paid extra for next day delivery but unfortunately the package arrived damaged by Royal Mail I have tried twice unsuccessfully to email bookshop org but the message has not been received I am at a loss what to do next in order to contact the company requesting a refund

Would have been nice to get an update

Never gave me an update of when my book would be back in stock I ordered it when the book was in stock so o get it 5 weeks later is not a good experience

Did not tell me at point of ordering

Did not tell me at point of ordering that there would be a 3-4 week delay - it said usually ships in 3 days
