Fertility treatment using donors

After a failed fertility treatment attempt my family and I decided to invest in the best chance possible to try and have another child It was to be our last try and it took all our savings and a loan Through Create and the European Sperm bank we used Donor Eggs and Donor Sperm We used donors who were young fertile and had had pregnancies before We made sure they were perfect in every way I was always lead to believe that I would have at least two really strong attempts this way There were 8 donor eggs When they were defrosted only 3 of them survived I was told this was unusual so a batch of 5 more were defrosted I think 3 survived the defrosting These remaining eggs were then all inseminated Out of this only three fertilized successfully Then only 1 grew into an embryo that could be used Sadly this embryo never even implanted I found this strange since a few months earlier I had managed this stage using my own eggs I also had managed to have a child myself without fertility treatment 9 years earlier I complained during and after the process However it was only when I posted a scathing review that anyone from Create contacted me They then had an enquiry and I was told that it was just one of those things I was offered 1000 off further treatment which is laughable since it cost 13000 in total The whole experience has been very traumatic and I am still getting over it I feel that I could have moved on if we had had a few goes and we were just not successful As it stands I think we never got the chance we paid for and invested in emotionally I believe something at some point went wrong Create have met with me since and have been very sympathetic to me - so maybe this is just sour grapes on my part However would I ever recommend anyone using them for a treatment using someone else eggs - absolutely not

A lot of mistakes

Update my experience below relates to treatment I received nearly 2 years ago I spoke to the clinic today who explained they have made a lot of improvements to the patient care and assured me the situation has improved As I say below I will most likely go back to Create St Paul s for another baby so hopefully things will run much more smoothly then I was reluctant to write a review as in the end and despite all the errors Create helped me bring to life the most amazing daughter I could have dreamed of but it wasn t a sleek process very far from it There s no point in detailing all the issues I encountered as this would end up in a proper novel but it is disappointing that so many errors were made and so many tears were shed as a result The admin side of things at Create was poor throughout - difficult communication incorrect invoices no empathy when things went wrong Constant chasing needed lots of misunderstandings and just quite frankly the wrong attitude from some of the staff Consultants are a bit of a mix I still challenge some of the decisions that were made during my 4 cycles Any opportunity to make more cash is taken I even ended up paying for additional blood tests when my cycle had to be extended due to their own mistake my donor sperm was misplaced and returned to Denmark the day before my scheduled egg collection I was offered free ICSI as compensation which I then received an invoice for a few weeks later The embryology team however are excellent and some of the staff were lovely I did get a baby out of it but I just wish they had made this emotional journey easier instead of causing more frustration I will most likely use them again for another baby as it is just easier but I do dread the experience

We travelled a long distance from Scotland to this Manchester clinic and the staff were always very accommodating with the appointments bearing in mind it was a 4 hour drive The treatment plan and pricing was well laid out and explained and the initial consultation was very positive Subsequent visits however were frustrating to say the least I dont think I saw the same person twice so each time we had to go through everything from scratch and different doctors had different advice Luckily I have a medical background so pushed for them seeing me when they did for a subsequent scan otherwise I fear we may have missed our implantation window and not had the success we did One particular doctor was extremely disappointing as I had gone through my dose of medication she said this back to me but after the scan she told me to increase the dose to the dose I was already on When I corrected her she backtracked rather than owning up to the fact she clearly hadn t paid attention to the doses in the first place I had little faith they knew exactly what was going on and wondered if my success was more luck than technique The lab lady however was excellent keeping us updated very regularly on the embryo progress and explained exactly what the best way forward was If you don t mind seeing a different face everytime and just feel like a number rather than a patient they care about then you ll be happy enough but I would have preferred a more personal approach

Not the service I was promised

My husband and I went in for the fertility MOT - the service throughout the tests were fine but they sell the fact you get instant results when in fact they said the lab was too busy and they would call back the next day The next day my husband and I both missed our calls so I called back - the doctor wasn t available so I spoke to a receptionist who gave me my results I asked for the doctor to call back but they never did By the time we d left we d spent over 700 and we never even received an email with a report breaking down the results and recommended course of action - I had to call to ask for this and once they finally agreed to send the results there was absolutely no explanation of what they meant For 700 I don t expect to be googling the right amount of AMH levels Not very impressed and if we needed to have IVF I d definitely go elsewhere

Create was recommended to me by two friends who both successfully had babies via Create My experience has not been so positive The staff are great friendly and helpful but overall I wouldn t recommend it as a clinic There was little analysis or consideration of my health and history the protocol felt formulaic and I felt like I was on a conveyor belt seeing different consultants all the time I had three failed implants and there was zero aftercare I still haven t spoken to a doctor at the clinic to discuss my most recent implant failure I m conscious I wouldn t be writing this had ivf been successful however I think there is scope for them to do more to support couples who do not have a easy ivf journey even if they aren t able to invoice for it

Not very organised which is a concern given the nature of using their services Forget to charge you at the time Don t have your information to hand from previous appointmentDon t tell you what s going on and when

Good in parts but not a rounded service

Create is very focused on profit making and the needs of patients are not always paramount Clinical care is good Raynes Park clinic is a bit rough around the edges and the quality of the service is mixed Three successful embryo transfers over a 3 year period so the feedback is very considered

Back in April 2021 after 1 failed cycle

Back in April 2021 after 1 failed cycle of IVF I called the clinic to inform them of my negative test result Since that day I have never heard from them no follow up call to see how I was or what happens next Such poor after care we have since moved to a different clinic

Disappointing services

The majority of the doctors and clinicians at the Solihull branch seemed experienced and I put my confidence in them to advise on the best treatment route for me The nurses are clear when advising on the treatment plan in the consultation sessions they are definitely much better than the NHS nurse-led session Unfortunately I can t say the same for the patient coordinator assigned to us and administrative staff as they have proven to be rather incompetent We did one cycle and subsequently a 2-cycle upgrade We only went with them for the upgrade because they are the closest facility to us the second treatment experience was not improved even after our complaints changing of patient coordinator 1 Different quotes were provided at the start and this created confusion perhaps intentional 2 Delivery of the first batch of medication was miscommunicated I had to call the pharmacy myself to ensure they were being delivered that day This is a time-sensitive delivery as it had to be available on the second day of my period I should not need to contact them directly as we are paying Create and not Fertility2U The same problem occurred for the delivery of the second batch 3 We were overcharged by 1 x ovitrelle in the first delivery and was told this would be refunded I later needed a final Gonal-F equivalent and my husband had to pick that up at the last minute before closing time He was not informed that that would offset the overbilling of the ovitrelle We felt that the prices were made up as it was not documented nor communicated At the second cycle we found out the prices for the 2 injections were not the same so the offset basically means they short-changed us conveniently 4 We had to inform the doctor on egg collection day that we are going down the ICSI route as advised by the doctor They appeared surprised and said we had not paid for ICSI Had we had not mentioned this and ICSI was not done I don t know what the fertilisation rate might be The bill of course came very shortly after with no apologies of their oversight 5 We were not informed that we can delay the medication delivery when we had the treatment consultation otherwise once delivered we cannot get a refund this includes medications that I may not need should the embryo testing comes back abnormal Everything was billed upfront even when we may not need the medication This is not reasonable we get the impression that the company is charging their patients whatever they want because of the patients desperation to become a parent 6 We were lucky to have one euploid for transfer after the first cycle however the FET procedure was nerve-wrecking as compared to the NHS experience surprisingly My bladder was beyond full and they pushed against it to get a picture of the embryo being deposited The doctor who performed the egg transfer seemed doubtful and gave the impression that she wasn t sure what to do We were given an ultrasound photo and when I asked what am I looking at she said you can t see it as it s a bad picture so what s the purpose in giving me the picture This was not successful 7 They don t offer a beta blood test which is surprising for the amount paid A substandard urine pregnancy test was provided instead 8 The call centre staff are mostly useless they don t call you back when they say they will This is extremely frustrating as you re essentially having to pay for a NHS-type service 9 You need to speak to a nurse before speaking to a doctor the nurses don t book appointments so it s back to relying on the patient coordinator to get the appointments booked in It is impossible to get hold of the patient coordinator and when you do she makes errors 10 Errors Lots of admin errors Double and triple check all invoices I have identified 500 worth of billing errors Overall a bad experience You d expect more for the amount paid Do ask lots of questions and read the fine print I was eager to start the process and thought it would be similar if not better than the NHS but I feel let down We have one more cycle to go I really hope it is smooth-sailing this time as I ve reached the verge of my frustrations with this clinic The stress levels don t help with trying to get pregnant

Unprofessional

I ve been with Create and Create ABC since October 2022 and although every person I ve dealt with has been nice and pleasant and tried their best however I ve been constantly left feeling frustrated and clueless about the process For my first appointment I was not given the correct address and went to their old Leeds site I then spent 35 minutes on the phone outside the door trying to get hold is someone to find out what had gone wrong When I finally got through they told me I was at the wrong address They did try and call me 30mins after my start time but I was already engaged with the helpline They managed to fit me in later that day but I lost the entire afternoon driving out to their new location and waiting until someone was available to see me For several of the video calls the nurse and or doctors have turned up very late and again left us with no option but to call the helpline and go on hold Some of the team have been easy to deal with and replied quickly but I would say 50 of the time the process is unprofessional In January my patient coordinator left the business and it took me three days to establish who my new coordinator was and get in touch The system to contact the coordinator had also changed and I was not informed of either change I am now trying to get an appointment to discuss results which I need in order to start my ivf in three weeks and my patient coordinator is unable to book in the system I have now spent a great deal of money and emotional energy on this process but I do not know how to move forward or who to speak to It seems the Leeds clinic is having some serious staffing and organisational issues
