The Mayo diet is easy to follow and effective

Mayo made the diet easy to follow with shopping lists and weekly menus I did not find the food particularly tasty which accounts for the 4 of 5 rating I stuck to the diet fairly close for 12 weeks by which time I had lost about 30lbs I ve still got 10 lbs or so to get to my target weight but feel I ve learned enough to do this myself with favorite Mayo recipes and lessons

The Mayo Clinic diet is easy to follow

I have been on the Mayo Clinic diet for 12 weeks and have found it easy to follow manage shopping tracking and weight progress Also I enjoy many of the meals or find them easy to substitute and have averaged a little over a pound a week weight loss consistently

What I like and what I don t

What I like the science and sound advice on food choices I also appreciate that the menus don t leave out food groups I like such as whole grain rice or whole grain pasta My biggest problem was that the first two weeks were the typical lose 6 - 10 pounds fast That has never worked for me and has always backfired but there wasn t any way to skip ahead So I ignored it and am still losing slowly but steadily I wish there had been the option NOT to start that way Also as I cook almost all my own meals using mostly fresh ingredients and seldom use recipes tracking isn t easy I m using the diet as guidelines more than anything else and so far it s working how I want it to

A Nice Variety of Meals

The meal plan provides various interesting meals however some of the recipe instructions are a bit difficult to follow Also I would like to see the grocery list change to reflect the plan recipes that I ve swapped for others

The plan is solid

The plan is solid I have lost 30 pounds and I am happy to gain control of my habits The app website however needs a lot of work It is not the best when it comes to meal plan epically when it comes to substitutions I understand that it was made to be used efficiently so you can reuse ingredients throughout the week but when you substitute the recommended it gets kind of wonky You should be able to filter foods you will not eat Also the food library could use some updates

Working Hard

So far so good I m only starting week three but am 10 pounds down I was a little unsure about some of the menus recipes but they are actually good Coming from a food service background I m inclined to play with spices if need be I m following to the best of my ability but have had to switch out a couple menus or tweak ie Brussel sprouts for asparagus If I have any complaints or suggestions they would be 1 Very repetitive menus I m ok with that for breakfast lunch but need more variety at dinner 2 Exercises I m doing my best but have weak knees so some of the lunges and things like that are not working for me I ve been trying to research exercise for my age weight and my physical ability to do them at this point As I get stronger I m sure things will be easier

I ve lost 12 lbs

I ve lost 12 lbs in the first two weeks Clothes are not as tight and I feel good I really like that there are recipes to follow and track It took me awhile to learn the swapping of meals on the app but I now feel comfortable The grocery list is very helpful but I definitely have added on extra time in the grocery store I ve been blessed with the fact that I m retired and have more time to prepare because it definitely adds in regard to meal preparation My husband has decided to join me on this diet journey too

I really like have a plan for each meal I like weekly grocery shopping with the grocery list that is provided Shop prepare eat A good plan for me who was bored with the whole process
