Maidenhead great shops and staff

have used a number of Maidenhead shops over the past 10 years as ever with large retailers you get good outlets and not so good outlets i would advise if you have a bad experience there is probably another one not to far away i used the Dukeries shop for many years and got to know the staff well all were very knowledgeable on the hobby and could assist with even the most out there questions sad this store is no longer operating that said i have also used the large store in Sheffield recently which is a great store and staff again very helpful and know there stuff great selection of products from tanks to plants to fish to anyone starting out in the in the hobby i would suggest popping in to have a chat my experience is maiden head employ people passionate about fish keeping who are happy to talk you through the do s and don t as well as giving advise on tank mates etc I have had 1000 s of fish from Maiden head stores and to date never had an issue with them I will continue to use them -

Great price on fish tank but

Purchased a 110 litre aquarium from Maidenhead Aquatics based at Tong Garden Centre Leeds which was on offer at a great price only downside the gentleman sold me a heater that wouldn t fit in the section next to the filter I did query the length of the heater as the packaging seemed too long but I was assured it would fit but once home it was clearly apparent that it was too long After a couple of weeks whilst cycling the tank the said heater was also too erratic in temperature so we purchased a new one from Amazon The cost of imitation plants and ornaments was also expensive but we had the choice to go elsewhere but didn t so thats on us We are now looking at purchasing 2 x large Fluval tanks and would consider them again depending if they are competitive on pricing

Recommended aquatics retailer

Very good aquatics retailer that we have used for many different things over the years They have to deal with all sorts of customers but I ve always seen them do the right thing The only minor criticism is that the different stores can be highly variable in terms of what they stock but this is also due to size Service generally always good though and livestock in good condition If you find a good local one you can always rely on them Special mention to the fairly new central Sheffield branch which has an excellent range of wet and dry goods and all fish we ve sourced from there have done really well
